Kneecap and now this.....There are some absolute fits playing at Glastonbury and I am sure there are some virtue signalling loons cheering this.

Hope turnpike throw the book at them.

The government condemned chants from rap duo Bob Vylan which were streamed live and called for "death" to the Israeli military.

But that is not what the pro pal mob do. At all. (See above the apparent 0 body count from Israel..) thst is the whole point. The kneecap cheerleaders don’t condemn Hamas. At all.

they don’t acknowledge the part that Hamas and its own war crimes play in how this conflict is playing out.

they don’t seem to give a fuck that Hamas steal aid, Hamas shoot people taking aid, Hamas deliberately put civilians at risk. All of this is ignored. Because they are idiots - which is what the topic of this thread is

Actually I’ve made the point that of course it’s possible to condemn Hamas terrorism and oppose the mass killing of Palestinian civilians. These are not contradictory positions, they’re the bare minimum of a moral stance.

But I can’t help but think that many people in this thread are blissfully unaware (or willfully indifferent) to the utterly dehumanising and grotesque ways Palestinians have been starved, bombed, and tortured toward death. This isn’t just a tragedy. It’s a moral catastrophe.

Just a few of the headlines…

  • there are more child amputees in Gaza than anywhere else in the world
  • IDF soldiers ordered to shoot deliberately at unarmed civilians waiting for humanitarian aid
  • UN aid chief describes shock at seeing dogs fattened from eating corpses in Gaza
  • Palestinian child killed by Israeli sniper despite ceasefire (Israeli army opened fire on a man trying to retrieve the body)
  • Abandoned babies found decomposing in Gaza hospital weeks after it was evacuated
  • death feels imminent for 96% of children in Gaza study finds
  • Gaza subjected to forced starvation, top UN official tells BBC
  • At least 170 journalists and media workers killed in Gaza
  • Israeli police attack funeral procession for shot journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh

Just noticed the Apprentice's Linda Plant follows him - no surprises there. Straight talking Jewish woman.

This person is not a volunteer. He deeply supports the IDF and the head of a charity that supports Israeli soldiers. He’s not neutral.

It is simply not true that the only risk to these people was from Hamas. We know that the IDF and the armed group being paid by Israel are also risks people suffer when collecting aid. That is a fact that is not in dispute.

Hamiltonfan · 30/06/2025 16:39

The GHF have been set up to keep Hamas away from the aid. Is that wrong?

Is this what the knobs at Glastonbury we’re doing though? Condemning both sides?

Music does; rap isn't music. It's nothing but a mumbled, stunted chanting of incoherent noise. No wonder Glastonbury misfits enjoyed it.

I wouldn't have thought that a form of music that has long acted as a voice of expression for the unheard and the marginalised would be your kind of thing alright.

Yes the way the GHF has been set up and how it’s being run is wrong.

There is a very long thread on it. In short it violates the main humanitarian principles. This is why it has been widely criticised by aid agencies and the UN and many governments around the world.

Hamiltonfan · 30/06/2025 16:45

Loool. I wouldn't take anything the UN say with more than a pinch of salt. Considering their staff were involved in 7/10

Bit of an oxymoron in there.

Why?Is it not possible for Jews to be pro Palestine?

Bob Vylan have had their US visas revoked ahead of a tour later in 2025 because of “their hateful tirade at Glastonbury”, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau says.

They will be unable to return to the US in the autumn for planned performances in Chicago, Brooklyn and Philadelphia.

The BBC, which broadcast Bob Vylan’s performance live, has since said it “should have pulled” its coverage.

The performance contained “utterly unacceptable” and “antisemitic sentiments”, the corporation said in a statement.

It would not be made available on iPlayer.

Do you dismiss other governments and what other NGO’s say as well?

The Israeli government themselves framed the food policies as a tactical decision to support a military goal. Which isn’t what aid should be about.

Twiglets1 · 30/06/2025 16:56

On Monday, it was reported by Deadline that the band Bob Vylan have been dropped by their agency United Talent Agency (UTA) over the backlash. The agency appears to have scrubbed the act from its official website.

This would be the biased BBC, in Israel's favour, we keep being told. The plug should have been pulled on the day, with these acts.the BBC never get it right.

Agree. They have kind of apologised for the error of judgement:

“Millions of people tuned in to enjoy Glastonbury this weekend across the BBC's output but one performance within our live streams included comments that were deeply offensive,” the statement said.
“The team were dealing with a live situation but with hindsight we should have pulled the stream during the performance. We regret this did not happen.”

Article in the Spectator from the writer Brendan O' Neill:

They’re chanting for the death of Jews at Glastonbury. Yesterday a swaying mob of faux-virtuous poseurs blithely howled for ‘Death, death to the IDF’. They’ll say they were being political. ‘It was an anti-war cry, not an anti-Jew cry’, they’ll insist today, as the hangover lifts and the horror of their noisy clamour for the death of those they hate finally dawns on them. But such thin excuses won’t wash, not this time.

Let’s speak frankly – our moral crisis is too pressing for pussy-footing. ‘Death to the IDF’ means the death of Jews. First, because the soldiers of the IDF are predominantly Jewish. But more importantly because this is the force tasked with defending the Jewish homeland from the armies of anti-Semites that surround it. The IDF is the only thing standing between the Jewish State and its genocidal obliteration by the apocalyptic bigots on its borders.

The death of the IDF would be the death of the world’s only Jewish nation. Untold numbers of Jews would perish in the event of this thing dreamt of by the preening middle classes of Glastonbury. ‘We didn’t think of that’, some will say today, as shame intrudes into the sick joy they derived from praying for the death of other human beings. Well, to borrow a slogan beloved of you people: ‘Educate yourselves.’

Glastonbury has become a sinister festival of anti-Semitism

The punk rap act Bob Vylan appeared to whip the Glastonbury crowd into a frenzy of Israelophobia, chanting ‘Death, death to the IDF’.

That’s been happening since medieval times and is still happening today all over the uk.

The UK was colonised by another country outside of the UK? Or do you mean something else.

YourOnMute · 30/06/2025 17:26

Yes, it is because it's clearly not fit for purpose. It's not acting upon humanitarian principles for the delivery of aid. It's a disaster.
Netanyahu stated in June that Israel is supporting another armed group opposing Hamas in Gaza and this group also controls aid. Another disaster.
He also supported Hamas as a foil to the PLO in the past.
And so on, and so on. This never works.

greencartbluecart · 30/06/2025 17:27

Death to the Russian army - how would that have been taken? As anti Russian or anti war? as incitement to violence or an expression of support for Ukraine ?

differnt rules always apply to anything associated with Isreal it seems to me

edit to add caveat - I think death to anything isn’t a good chant
