Kneecap and now this.....There are some absolute fits playing at Glastonbury and I am sure there are some virtue signalling loons cheering this.

Hope turnpike throw the book at them.

Bobby Vylan of British duo Bob Vylan performs on the West Holts Stage

Police review footage of chants led by Glastonbury acts

The government condemned chants from rap duo Bob Vylan which were streamed live and called for "death" to the Israeli military.

And how do you know they don't and have drawn their conclusion based on the information at hand.

Because they don't agree with your point of view?

I form an opinion based on what they say. I can only go by that. If they don’t display critical thinking then there’s nothing else to go on.

Mildorado · 29/06/2025 09:08

From my understanding, many of them are. There was a thread on here with a Jewish woman recounting how she ans her family were terrorised by pro Palestinian demonstrators. It was chilling. There is so much hate, and so much anti-Semitism which is becoming mainstream
Shocking.

To allay your fears and concern for us, can I say that there are many, many Jews in the UK who are not living in fear or anxiety. Yes, some are, but many others look at the situation rationally and realise that the lot of Jewish people in this country is really not as bad as some may wish to project.

However, if you are British Palestinian, you would certainly get a lot of support. You could parade your flag, wear badges and bracelets with your identity clearly shown. Not so much the case for British Jews nowadays.

Oh I'm sure they are delighted to be able to wear a badge whilst listening to their government supporting the country starving and executing their relatives.

"trendy cause"

Disgusting.
Only certain lives really do count don't they.

Apparently so as there seems to be a large amount of people following 'save Palestinian lives' chants and hero worshipping bands who, at the same time, openly support groups calling for the destruction of Israel and the death of Jewish people.

I am not Jewish, not do I live in a place with a Jewish community, but I listen to Jewish voices which are raised in concern, and alarm. No-one can speak for a whole community - not you, not me. However, when significant numbers of voices speak out and serious concerns are raised?
We should listen.

I don't know, you are clearly more privvy than me on this matter.

Quirkswork · 29/06/2025 09:20

It's all pointless. It's a music festival. Go to a political rally if you want other people's political views rammed down your neck. Particularly about something happening in another country where the UK is powerless to do anything. I think we should look at our own country and how racisim is being broadcast by the BBC and how Jewish people are being made to feel frightened. That's something we can and should do something about.

Except if those significant number of voices are speaking out about the government supporting the killing and maiming of 1000s of people right? Then those voices are suddenly dismissed.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 29/06/2025 09:21

I'm looking at the audience at Glastonbury and I am prepared to place a large amount of money that most don't have relatives in Palestine.

Im a secular Jew and when I walk down the street and go about my business, I'm not scared but that's only because I'm not visibly Jewish (dislike that term generally btw). No one knows I am unless I actually tell them. I would be utterly petrified if I was. As it is, I don't tell anyone I'm Jewish unless I know them extremely well...I wouldn't wear my star of David in the current climate and I would never tick on an official form that I'm Jewish. I can't speak for all Jewish people of course, but that's how I feel. Hardly an ideal situation or where I thought the UK would be in 2025.

Lindos1 · 29/06/2025 09:04

I'd honestly be s**t scared if I was Jewish in the UK at the moment. This country feels unhinged.

I am Jewish, and I am scared. I’ve always been very integrated into wider society but I feel myself closing down through fear. I can make many points but I don’t think this is the forum for that discussion, but I can’t help wondering how many of these protesters said anything about what Russia has been doing. Is this all an excuse to express a hatred that has been under the surface for years?

This is the issue with broadcasting antisemitism, it legitimises it.

Israelis.

All Israelis do you mean... regardless of religion?

The PP comment also negatively stereotypes a group of people's characteristics. I'd suggest that is racist.

We have Jewish people on this thread, British Jews, telling us they are afraid and people don’t think this is a problem? These are our friends and neighbours and colleagues. We can condemn the actions of politicians but if anyone tells me there isn’t a problem with blatant anti-Jewish sentiment on our UK streets then I will laugh in your face. I’ve seen and heard too much.

Agree completely. People need to take a step back and look at what's happening in our own country.

And would you be so kind to provide evidence or links to back up your views or is this just yet another fake news statement.

To get you started I've provided a few:

Yet another person who equates Palestinian with terrorist. Just like when I was a child because my family were Irish catholics it was assumed we supported the IRA.
