Aah ok, so he's not happy with how many bombs Israel dropped just before the ceasefire came into place.

I don’t think so. It’s because they are about to
do more.

I think it's both from Twiglets latest update but maybe I'm wrong.

Trump insists ceasefire is in effect

Moments after Air Force One departed with Donald Trump on-board, the US president has posted a fresh Truth Social insisting that "the ceasefire is in effect".
Trump writes: "Israel is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly 'plane wave' to Iran.
"Nobody will be hurt, the ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

Let's hope so!

Sounds like Trump has got the assurances he would have been demanding that Israel will turn the planes around and not attack Iran after all.

I think it's both from Twiglets latest update but maybe I'm wrong.

Reading that it could be both.

I’m happier if someone says quit it to Israel. I think their anger was high.

Iran have a chance to stop and hopefully won’t make another mistake.

katem98 · 24/06/2025 12:54

Is it silly to consider that the strike on Israel after the ceasefire may have been false flag?

BelleHathor · 24/06/2025 12:56

EasternStandard · 24/06/2025 12:31

Surely you do want a ceasefire? Wouldn’t you say it’s bad if Iran strike?

Of course, but a long amd durable ceasefire. Not a ceasefire like the ones in Lebanon amd Gaza where Israel unilaterally defies it and bombs at will.

Aragachi the Iranian Foreign minister has said for over a week that Iran will stop once Israel stops violating it's sovereignty.

Yes plus he's also not happy that Katz had vowed to launch fresh strikes on Tehran after Iran had shot a missile into Israel after the ceasefire started.

Basically, he doesn't want either side escalating things into a war again when he has supposedly just negotiated a ceasefire.

No that’s not what he said. He specifically mentioned the huge load that Israel dropped on Tehran last night after the ceasefire was announced but before it came into effect and said it was wrong and you don’t do that. It wasn’t anything to do with the retaliation this morning. He pretty much brushed over Iran’s breach.

I think it’s more likely that it wasn’t meant to happen. The leadership had agreed the ceasefire. What the army did was slightly different.

EasternStandard · 24/06/2025 13:01

He says he’s going to see if he can stop it. Then they’ve turned around.

All pressure should be on Israel to go home and stop. Surely people do want that?

It’s far better than US saying keep going. Hopefully the other tweet below means they have.

katem98 · 24/06/2025 13:02

@RafaistheKingofClay Yes I suppose that makes more sense.

You know the situation in Gaza is way more complicated than that.

Better not to drag other conflicts into it as this thread is about Iran.

Basically, a ceasefire between Iran and Israel can only be a good thing. As long as both sides uphold it and allow proper negotiations to go ahead re Iran giving up their nuclear plans and also stopping attacking Israel via their proxy militias across the Middle East.

Writing on his Truth Social platform, US President Donald Trump insists that “ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran.”

Israeli officials, including Defense Minister Israel Katz, said that Israel would respond in force to a ballistic missile Iran launched this morning after a ceasefire went into effect, a development that infuriated Trump.

“All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran,” Trump writes. “Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Whatsinanamehey · 24/06/2025 13:11

I’m not happy that Israel’s going out now. There was one rocket that I guess was fired overboard [by Iran]. It was after the time limit, and it missed its target. And now Israel’s going out. These guys gotta calm down. Ridiculous…”
“I didn’t like plenty of things I saw yesterday. I didn’t like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal. They didn’t have to unload. And I didn’t like the fact that… The [Iranian] retaliation was very strong. But in all fairness, Israel unloaded a lot.”
“And now I hear that Israel just went out because they felt [the deal] was violated by one rocket that didn’t land anywhere. That’s not what we want, I’ll tell you. And I’m telling you, I’m not happy about that, Israel, either.”
“All I do is play both sides.”

Whatsinanamehey · 24/06/2025 13:12

Transcript of what Trump said this morning.

EasternStandard · 24/06/2025 13:13

It really is dealing with erratic people and getting them to calm down.

Israel need to. Iran do too.

BelleHathor · 24/06/2025 13:16

Though I must thank the anti war MAGA voters for forcefully pushing back against Trump for this misadventure and also the war hawks for so openly exposing themselves (someone needs to check on Lindsay Graham!).

Campaigning for the midterms starts soon and Trump was on course to lose a lot his base who are tired of foreign wars. That probably explains his anger towards Israel. Netanyahu has singlehandedly invited billions of dollars of destruction to Israel and given Iran the perfect excuse to pursue a Nuclear weapon.

I agree on anti war base. But that’s part of the reason he’s in anyway.

Why do you think Iran had the 400kg enriched uranium @BelleHathorif not to develop a weapon?

stepawayfromthedarkside · 24/06/2025 13:21

I think Trump will do all in his power to ensure Israel holds the truce now. Fingers crossed.

Well Haaretz is reporting that:
"After Trump demands Israel "calm down": IDF jets fly back, plans scaled back to solely strike Iranian military radar"

So technically a breach by Israel after Trump asked them to stop.

https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2025-06-24/ty-article-live/hinting-at-start-of-cease-fire-iranian-fm-thanks-armed-forces/00000197-9f96-d4d3-a1bf-bfde44a50000

Balls back in Irans court.

From your source: Netanyahu reportedly told Trump that he could not cancel the attack and that some response was needed for Iran's violation of the cease-fire, Axios reported, citing an Israeli official. The attack would be significantly scaled back and would not hit a large number of targets but only strike one target, according to the report.

Hopefully the ball is NOT back in Iran's court or they could be playing tit for tat forever.

Iran allegedly attacked Israel after the ceasefire started. Israel feels like it needs to respond, but after Trump's outburst their retaliation has been significantly scaled back to only strike one military target.

One hit for Iran (after the ceasefire) one for Israel to save face.

Let that be the end of it for the sake of innocent civilians on both sides!

BBC Live Feed:

We've just heard from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office, which says Israel has struck a radar array near Tehran in response to "Iran's violations" of the ceasefire.
In a statement, Netanyahu's office says Iran fired one missile at Israel at 07:06 local time (05:06 BST) and two more at 10:25, after the ceasefire had come into effect.
The statement says Israel "refrained from further attacks" after the Israeli PM spoke with US President Donald Trump.
In the call, Trump "expressed his immense appreciation for Israel" which had "achieved all of its war goals", the statement continues.
"The President also expressed his confidence in the stability of the ceasefire," it adds.
