Christ.

Fucking bastard Trump, if they used the rumoured modified nuclear capable GBU-57 bunker buster bombs and they have managed to penetrate down, thousands are at risk.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard: "Now the war has begun for us"

Everything now depends on Iranian restraint, extremely dangerous situation.

Trump acted purely for political reasons and not in the interest of American national interest. Again he lied, a few days ago he said 2 weeks to negotiate and hit tonight.

US bases in the region on high alert:

US military now briefing troops that its strike on Iran "will likely result in counterstrikes on US bases and facilities" in the Middle East, and "likely activate Iran and other foreign terrorist organizations cells abroad including the US to conduct strikes against US persons and facilities," according to briefing I obtained

I'm just about recovering my powers of speech, and am trying not to shit myself, tbh. TMI but there we are.

I was watching a bit of Ghost Theory for light relief, and switched back to Agenda Free TV at the exact moment our boy Lookner was shouting "breaking news".

Oh boy.

Also started a thread on AIBU and someone has referred to a Biblical prophecy about Elams Bow. Please tell me that this whole thing isn't really being driven by religious nutters on all sides?

How are Iran's "allies" going to react is my big worry, followed by the likely surge in terrorism.

Fuck fuck fuck.

Poor bastards. Sitting ducks. And there's going to be significant civilian casualties most likely.

Why why why?

I've had this strange feeling since Ukraine attacked Russia's nuclear capable planes a few weeks ago (a move that entitled Putin to respond with nukes).

Along with the plausible genocide in Gaza it's like the Overton window on what’s acceptable has shifted perilously and there are some bastards willing to get us into WW3 by any means.

Iran's main news channel just reported that all 3 nuclear sites were cleared months ago, so small mercies.

Depending on the damage Iran will have to respond as it's an act of war. It's allies in Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen are on standby but won't move unless Iran is in mortal danger.

Let's hope that it was just a symbolic strike by Trump 🤞 then the response to America will be limited.

A 245 year old country messing with a 5000 year old civilization that beat Alexander the great.......

MistressoftheDarkSide · 22/06/2025 02:02

It's going to get really messy I think.

Lookner is reporting that in Israel Home front command are changing civil defence to "essential activity only" - they're basically going into lickdown.

Apparently Fordow got 6 bunker bombs, and another site got Tomahawk cruise missiles fired from submarines, according to a US reporter.

Are you seriously suggesting a nuclear Iran isn't a threat to world peace?

The US is a threat to world peace

Edited: 30 tomahawk from submarines to engage the Iranian Air defences and allow the B-52s to strike.

The US is a threat to world peace

The United States is 249 years old, having declared its independence in 1776. It has been engaged in military conflicts for approximately 227 years since then. This means the U.S. has been at war for more than 92% of its existence

If Article 5 of Nato is triggered, yes
We will have No choice

BUT

Very unlikely, almost impossible that the UK will be hit
We will lose soldiers though

Looks like Trump avoided using allies assets, so no risk right now. Targets would not be civilians only military .

MistressoftheDarkSide · 22/06/2025 02:44

I wonder just how much safer the people of Israel are feeling right now.

I hope so, too. This is going to affect future negotiations with the US forever, though. Noone is going to trust America again after this. Their officials have lied far to many times and far too many negotiations have been proven to be fake. Geez, Trump is such a bastard!

Twiglets1 · 22/06/2025 06:31

The Telegraph: Donald Trump has threatened to launch further strikes on Iran if it does not immediately make peace.

“Future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier,” the US president said in an address to the nation following the US attack on three of the country’s nuclear sites.

He added: “There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days. Remember there are many targets left.”

Earlier, Mr Trump said the US had attacked Iran’s enrichment sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

He called the attacks a “spectacular success” and said Iran’s nuclear programme had been “completely and totally obliterated”.

Twiglets1 · 22/06/2025 06:36

Shocking news to wake up to.

I thought they were still in the process of trying to negotiate some kind of peaceful resolution. Wonder what all the various world leaders will have to say about this. It probably will have taken many of them by surprise too, including Starmer.

PaxAeterna · 22/06/2025 07:34

It’s all very worrying and I’m struggling to see a best case scenario. Trump seems to be backing the Iranians into a corner with the speech too. Surely a better approach to resolving this with diplomacy and negotiation is to allow everyone to save face.

Also a worry that he bombed Iran when the majority of the US population was against it.
