Not really surprised but shows the level of New hatred that IS spreading in the US. Scary times and hope nothing like that happens here.

Washington DC shooting: Two Israeli embassy staff killed in attack near Jewish museum

The man and woman were shot while leaving an event focused on helping Gazans at the Capital Jewish Museum.

You certainly did, @Odras .

@ScarlettOYara initially didn’t even bother replying to my post and then said it wasn’t evidence. @Twiglets1 pointed out that Gazan’s have large families. You’re still talking about blood libel. At no point did any of the three of you say, yes I support Israel but I’m concerned about these reports that suggest children have been targeted.

My sincere apologies if I have missed one of you calling for an independent investigation.

Sorry who elected you arbiter of what pronouncements we have to make?

Twiglets1 · 24/05/2025 16:38

I also point out @ScrollingLeaves that aid has been resumed into Gaza now, admittedly not yet in sufficient quantities. Powdered baby milk is being prioritised along with clean water and flour.

And the reason the aid was blocked in the first place according to the IDF was because Hamas were stealing it to sell back to the local population at inflamed prices - it was an income stream for them.

I don’t agree they should have blocked humanitarian aid for as long as they did. But I do understand that a new method of aid distribution had to be found if Hamas were stealing it. You don’t help your enemy ( Hamas) in a war.

Exactly. Its utterly bizarre that Israel is expected to do what Hamas is actually responsible for. Of course its a bloody tragedy that ordinary Palestinians are caught up in it.

This was in reply to you post saying “who is not concerned “ and it seems that none of you are concerned at all. And are happy to nod along as Netanyahu leads Israel down a very path.

You cannot say that another person is "not concerned".
That would be very wrong.

Odras · 24/05/2025 16:52

@ScarlettOYara so are you concerned about the reports of the IDF and Israeli government policy targeting children then?

Stripes56 · 24/05/2025 16:56

Twiglets1 · 24/05/2025 16:32

I think the doctor with her 10 children proves my point about a large percentage of the Palestinian deaths unfortunately being children mainly because they tend to have such large families.

The doctor’s home gets bombed and 9 of the casualties are babies and young children. That doesn’t mean the IDF were targeting them specifically and I see no reason why they would as it doesn’t help them militarily.

You would think though that they would take into account the presence of number in innocent people when working out the proportionality of response?

You’re very quick to make assumptions about people.

I haven’t even had the chance to read all the links yet & you are assuming I am not concerned about them.

Should I assume you are unconcerned about all the issues raised that you haven’t yet commented on, or would that be unfair?

To repeat a previous answer: I am not a psychopath. Why do you assume that I am not concerned?
You keep asking this.

Twiglets1 · 24/05/2025 17:10

Let me reassure you @ScarlettOYara you are not coming across like a psychopath.

The constant reiteration used against anyone who expresses any support for Israel (even those who also criticise Israel for certain things, like me) is that we must lack humanity/must not care about civilian deaths/must be particularly uncaring about babies dying.

When Obama went after Bin Laden- he sent in elite soldiers rather than use a dumb bomb to obliterate his compound and the people in there. He did not think that would be proportionate.

Thank you so much. It's extraordinary. I've never said anything in support of Netanyahu or the Gaza conflict! It's because I questioned the issue of deliberately targeting babies that this has happened. I keep getting asked the same, personal question about my morality, which is grossly unfair.

How can they avoid civilian deaths though, against an enemy who hide amongst civilians?

How can they destroy Hamas without destroying the buildings they shelter inside and underneath?

I wish there was another way for Hamas to be destroyed or that Hamas would surrender.

Odras · 24/05/2025 17:19

@ScarlettOYara That’s great. Seems like there has been a misunderstanding so. We can agree there are genuine concerns that children are not just disproportionately killed but actually being targeted.

I don’t think anyone here is a psychopath.

What a relief.

Odras · 24/05/2025 17:22

I find it unbelievable myself to be honest. And it’s a far question to ask. But there is enough evidence to be concerned that they are.

Are you serious? Bin Laden wasnt hiding out in a densely populated area. He was in his own large compound and several people including one of his sons was also killed.

ArtTheClown · 24/05/2025 17:34

This was a thread about two young people who were murdered, but it's been completely detailed as usual despite there being numerous other threads, or indeed the option to start one.

Why did they bomb a doctor’s home?

Why did they bomb a doctor’s home?

Doctor and 10 kids :maximum targets for minimum outlay in ammunition.

Livelovebehappy · 24/05/2025 21:05

Maybe the people criticising Israel for the famine about to hit Gaza should focus their attention on the Hamas terrorists who have been diverting the aid to themselves, and who have been selling surplus aid to the Palestinians at over inflated prices. That's the reality here. But pro Palestinians ignore that fact, and prefer to put the blame 100% at the door of the Israeli government. Hamas don't give a toss about the Palestinians. This whole situation is all about them. And always has been.

There were several other families living in the same compound.
