Are we surprised? I mean this happened multiple times last time. I do wonder if the media will report.

@SharonEllis
I think its a bit more than an annoyance. The list here gives names, ages and the circumstances of their deaths. www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/comprehensive-listing-of-terrorism-victims-in-israel

Again your own petard has lifted you high. Look at that data and see that fatalities and injuries from rockets were relatively insignificant compared to the far more viscous, barbaric and inhumane campaign of suicide bombings that was regularly causing death and mayhem over a decade between around 1996 and 2007. The suicide bombings were, by far, the main concern for Israel.

Why that campaign of suicide bombing stopped, I don't know. Israel claims it is because of increased and effective control of its borders, Hamas claims that it was losing them international sympathy and was not achieving its desired goal.

My post which referred to
'bombings, stabbings, car rammings and people killed by rocket fire. The latter would be much higher if it wasnt for the iron dome.'

I'm not sure why you think people killed by rocket attacks are more important than people killed by terrorist attacks inside Israel, but there you are.

I'm amazed at how brainwashed some people are

I am amazed at the excuses for a hellish country that would kill so many innocent people

Oh the irony

Not one bit @Comedycook

It's called SPEAKING THE TRUTH

Oh the irony

Explain how we, posters on here who condemn the slaughter of civilians on both sides, are brained washed?
We have eyes. We can see what has been done to Gaza.
Do you think the pictures, the satellite images and videos are all fake?
Do you think the testimonies of numerous medical staff are lies?
Do you think this is just Hamas propaganda?
Do you think Netanyahu is innocent of war crimes and crimes against humanity?

Not one bit @Comedycook

It's called SPEAKING THE TRUTH

It's more than speaking the truth; it is about being honest, building relationships, being authentic and responsible, and understanding the context of what has occurred in the past and present.

You've suggested your Jewish friends lack independent thought and mindlessly follow someone else's beliefs. Why insult them like that? Do you mean to offend and belittle them?

They may think you are targeting them because of their national heritage. A heritage over which they have no control over.

Remove the extremist voices that exclusively refer to the disparity between the two groups of people affected by this crisis, and then maybe you can have an open conversation with them.

Conflating nationality with approval of government policy seems to be almost an exclusively Israeli-targeted activity. Stop demonising the State of Israel, and engage and debate regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.

You will not agree on everything, but you might reach an understanding. Hopefully, you'll be able to renew your acquaintance with your Jewish friends and come to some understanding.

You took all that from my 3 word comment?

Bpe · 21/01/2025 00:00

It’s unbelievable but at the same time expected. I don’t think anything could surprise me at this point.

Sadly it’s like warring dogs- any excuse and they will be attacking again without warning.

Both sides seem incapable of keeping the peace.

It’s awful for civilians caught in the inevitable crossfire.

Indeed. Am I wrong?

mouthpipette · 22/01/2025 19:04

@SharonEllis I'm flattered you took so much trouble. You went through my posts back to May last year!! Wow.

It didn't take that long to do the search, in fact it took less than a minute and it really wasn't any trouble. Please feel free to carry on posting, as I'm happy to correct anything that I feel may be inaccurate. But also please bear in mind that I only have so much free time.
Thanks.
Yours etc.

Well said @Auvergne63

Some people on here really need to open their eyes and then they will see the truth

argyllherewecome · 22/01/2025 20:36

Totally expected, not surprised at all. This was never about eradicating Hamas, it's about eradicating the Palestinians.

Exactly !!!!!

Without a shadow of a doubt

How can anyone claim otherwise is beyond me 😞😞😞

I don't think it's Israel's aim to eradicate all Palestinians. I think that conclusion is an exaggeration and also unfair upon Israel. Whilst Israel in its current form may be brutal and inhumane, it hasn't quite got that bad. Additionally, Israel is not so stupid as to believe that you could achieve eradication of the Palestinians. There are too many of them and they would always keep coming back. The obscenely high death toll so far, does not come from a deliberate determination to kill Gazans, but just a total disregard for their lives as Israel continues to pursue some gnarled objective of eliminating Hamas. Israel just doesn't care if civilians are in the way.

Why try to effect elimination when suppression generally achieves its ends ? Suppression also gives you the option to use violent suppression when you see yourself under attack. So suppression against an ever increasingly hostile suppressee is the method that Israel has ratcheted up over the decades. Until we have what we have today.
So the Palestinians will keep fighting for a better lot and for relief from suppression and the Israelis will keep fighting back until.......?

Until the two sides are forced to negotiate an end to violence.

And, seeing as how the vast majority of the ordnance meted out over the past 15 months has originated in Israel, it would have made sense for them to have stopped, as a gesture of goodwill, in order that this horror should stop. But they didn't and they have earned themselves the reputation they now have. Much of the obscenity of Israel's actions are, apart from starting them, is the fact that they could have ended them at any time.

Israel has got to stop blocking negotiations. They must sit down and in return for a guarantee of non-violence hand over the whole of the west bank, create free-flow of people from Gaza to WB and help rebuild and trade with the newly created state of Palestine.

Take the right wing Israeli Nationalists and deport them to the newly formed state of Palestine on the WB, where they can live as Palestinian citizens in a Palestinian state. (they'll love that !)
Meanwhile all the peacenik Israelis will live in harmony with its new neighbours. Just an idea.

Just read back over some of your terminology there would you?

For me, possibly.
For suppression, read oppression.

Now do number of rockets fired into Israel in that time period.

You have just provided additional proof that no ceasefire was in place on Oct 7th, 2023.

SpunkyCritic · 23/01/2025 15:58

So despite all your claims, Israel has not broken the ceasefire.

Strange no one mentioned Hamas not abiding by the ceasefire agreements last week when handing over the list of hostages.

Can you imagine any other subject where 4 pages of people claiming something untrue as true would be acceptable?

The ceasefire wasn't in place then. It was delayed because of this. Strange you didn't mentioned the delayed Israeli cabinet meeting.

Imaging threads after threads supporting the slaughter of 16 000 children would be acceptable.

They have breached the fragile ceasefire by shooting and killing Palestinians including atleast one child. Their excuse as usual for the continuous attack on Palestinians has been self defense.

Oh ok. Is that what the ceasefire signatories have said then?

Why hasn't that been reported then? Why are people still looking forward to the release of more innocent hostages this weekend?

I think you mean that the ceasefire has been broken in your opinion. Either that or you really just don't understand how these agreements work.

The cabinet was delayed as Hamas weren't agreeing to all aspects of the deal. What do you expect?!

Here we go again.

You're wrong but instead of admitting it, you deflect to the usual Israel loves killing kids BS.

According to you I am wrong. funny that a Israeli newspaper appears to back up my claim. But what do they know?

It was as close as this ongoing conflict ever gets to a ceasefire.
