Hillel Nueur, International human rights lawyer, writer, Executive Director of United Nations Watch writes: 'Never before in history has a side claimed that they suffered a genocide and at the same time that they won the war they had started.'

If you read only a handful of messages on social media today and watch the news, people in Gaza are celebrating and Hamas state they will continue (their barbarity) until Israel is eradicated. I won't repost these as anyone can find them easily.

From the comments you've made on this site, it's very clear you hold Israel and Israeli citizens fully accountable, for this conflict and for the Palestinians quality of life. I'm not here to dispute that.

But until you start holding Palestinians accountable, for the broad support they've given Hamas with regard to its stance on Israel, murdering of Jews and martyrdom then this conflict will continue to go on in perpetuity.

Something has to change in the mindsets of people in both Israel and Gaza in order for there to be peace. But until Hamas are removed by the Palestinian population in Gaza then they are equally responsible for their own misfortunes.

But until Hamas are removed by the Palestinian population in Gaza then they are equally responsible for their own misfortunes.
How can this be achieved by the people in Gaza? The only way they can overthrow them is through force, but that is simply not possible. What realistically are their options. They have absolutely nothing how can they remove Hamas? I'm not being smart just unsure what this would look like.

The polls may be problematic idk but one of the stages is to put in place governance I believe. So it won’t be Hamas, unless someone has read otherwise

Of course Gazans are celebrating. They will hopefully stop being bombarded every night. They may be able to rebuild their homes and their children might be able to go back to school. Aid might be able to come in. Their horribly injured and maimed victims of this sick bombardment might be able to leave and get treatment. They may be able to dig under the rubble and find the bones and corpses of their loved ones and may be able to bury them.

The US are pushing for the PA to take over I believe.

What recent polls? I would seriously question the ethics of any poll conducted in Gaza in the past year. Who conducted it and how?

There was a poll conducted last December by the Palestinian Center for Policy Survey and Research (PCPSR), as reported by Reuters.

Poll shows Palestinians back Oct. 7 attack on Israel, support for Hamas rises | Reuters

This poll has been discussed before it is 13 months old and the majority of respondents were in the west bank. The way you referred to it it sounded like it was conducted recently in Gaza which is not the case. I have no idea what Gazans feel about Hamas, they are a broken traumatised population who need time to recover before people rush to demonise or infer what they do or don't support.

Do you agree that Hamas needs to be destroyed? Because they do. For the people of Gaza, not just for Israel.

The PA are definitely trying to position themselves for that but none of that seems clear yet. The rebuild and humanitarian support will have to take priority.

As the late great Edwin Starr sang
War .. what is it good for
Absolutely nothing.

"Hamas is claiming a victory over Israel."

"What Hamas claim is irrelevant they need to open their eyes and see the destruction and devastation, this is no victory for either side. What have they won? Gaza is destroyed"

Hamas are terrorists so do you think for one second they care about the destruction and devestation? If they did they would have released all the hostages over a year ago and stopped the war or better still, not taken them in the first place!

Do you honestly expect people to take your posts seriously when you state such a ridiculous comment?? I don't think anyone needs reminding of the raping, killing of entire families and hostage taking on October 7th that started this war.

No, I don't think I implied they did

Unfortunately, a lot of people do need reminding; they talk as though Israel started their attacks with no provocation.

Anyone who echos the pp belief. I don’t think they will be the only one out of everyone

If you don’t agree with their view then not you

EasterIssland · 16/01/2025 21:46

Right not started but declared that should have been my verb. Apologies for mixing two verbs (and if you search in google you’ll see loads of news saying Israel declares war)

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/10/08/middleeast/israel-gaza-attack-hostages-response-intl-hnk

back to my comment. Israel declared the war on Hamas saying they’d not stop until Hamas is destroyed. Hamas as of today isn’t destroyed. If I was Hamas I’d feel I’ve won because my enemy hasn’t achieved what they wanted to achieve which was my destruction.

I'd say it was quite a victory for Hamas. Start a war, get some terrorist prisoners released.
They don't care about the Palestinians. Anyone who thinks so is moronic.

They will care about the international response and the success of their propaganda.

Hamas will regroup whilst the Israel committing 'genocide' will be regurgitated and their reputation damaged for years to come.
I'd say that was a success for Hamas.

How ridiculous.
You only have to look at any post on this subforum to find many people with that view. It's quite frightening.
