Hamas and Gaza celebrates

Hillel Nueur, International human rights lawyer, writer, Executive Director of United Nations Watch writes: 'Never before in history has a side claimed that they suffered a genocide and at the same time that they won the war they had started.'

If you read only a handful of messages on social media today and watch the news, people in Gaza are celebrating and Hamas state they will continue (their barbarity) until Israel is eradicated. I won't repost these as anyone can find them easily.

What a surprise.

Some people will need to find new causes to dress up for

Who is claiming victory? Hamas? It is the people of of Gaza that have suffered a genocide. Has he been in the region yet to witness the devastation, the humanitarian crisis, the 16,000 children dead, the 2 million displaced. I find his comment crude and unnecessary. Why would people in Gaza celebrating a ceasefire after 15months of hell be so surprising?

Maybe I just don't understand what point you're trying to make here.

Who is. I wouldn't trust Netanyahu either but what else have we got. It was getting no where, achieving nothing but pain death and suffering on all sides.

Hamas is claiming a victory over Israel.

Hamas is claiming a victory over Israel.

It's hardly new for both sides to claim victory in a conflict when a ceasefire is declared.

Hamas is claiming a victory over Israel.

What Hamas claim is irrelevant they need to open their eyes and see the destruction and devastation, this is no victory for either side. What have they won? Gaza is destroyed

I agree they need to address their responsibility for the devastation in Gaza but my guess is that they won't and as soon as they can re arm they will do so and continue to fire rockets into Israel. It's a complete tragedy and there is no trust between anyone at all.

Israel is not claiming any victory at all. They want all their hostages back, understandably and don't trust Hamas.

They’ve not even agreed to the ceasefire… that thing that would get their hostages back

All 33 of them out of a total of 98. Not sure I'd agree either.

That’s not true

33 on the first phase. Remaining on following phases.

That's hoping that the future phases happen. Why aren't ALL the hostages being freed after 15 months in hell?

Your last paragraph is very concerning but I hope their are ordinary Gazans celebrating too

I also think Trump would enable hitting hard if Hamas tried again

Of course there is ordinary gazans celebrating I’ve seen several videos from kids to press to Palestinians celebrating it

Why aren’t all those in detention with no charges against them freed after 15 months (and more) in hell?

All or nothing? That's an easy to thing to say if your family isn't one of the 33. One life saved is worth it

Yes I’m aware, it was covered on BBC WS

Very moving

I think as much as I can’t stand Hamas talking as the op outlines it’s better to focus on happy children celebrating

Considering the polls showing so many many Palestinians still support Hamas, I fear this will not be the end.

Hamas needs to be gone.

Hamas needs to be gone.

Most agree with that but 15 months of war has not achieved that so continuing with the assault on Gaza is fruitless, a hostage release deal is the best option for the surviving hostages and their families and for innocent civilians in Gaza.

My God, imagine going through life with this level of delusion.

Of course you've heard it for 15 months, because you've been saying Israel started it for 15 months.
