Hamas and Gaza celebrates

Hillel Nueur, International human rights lawyer, writer, Executive Director of United Nations Watch writes: 'Never before in history has a side claimed that they suffered a genocide and at the same time that they won the war they had started.'

If you read only a handful of messages on social media today and watch the news, people in Gaza are celebrating and Hamas state they will continue (their barbarity) until Israel is eradicated. I won't repost these as anyone can find them easily.

Astonishing how many lies, misinformation and contradictions can be crammed into one post.

I know. I don't engage anymore as it is utterly pointless.
I hope one day soon that independent observers/press are allowed in Gaza and tell the world what really happened. I fear it is much worse than we think.

Definitely a worry as according to Blinken Israel's actions over the past year has been a very effective recruitment drive for Hamas.

Most likely, but threats of violence and intimidation will go a long way to secure Hamas as the ruling authority in Gaza. It has worked for them up until now.

Until they are removed as the ruling authority, along with their hateful ideology, Palestinians don't stand a chance of peace and democratic elections.

SpunkyCritic · 19/01/2025 18:26

@NoisyBear @argyllherewecome are you denying the harm Hamas has caused the Palestinians? Do you think they have done Gaza a great service?

You both seem to be blaming Israel for the lack of infrastructure and development in Gaza.

Halbiiamz · 19/01/2025 18:30

I have been both in Israel and Palestine. In both Hebrew and Arabic they refer to both themselves and each other as "Jews" and "Arabs". Within Israel there are many Israeli non Jews and many Jews who aren't Israeli (culturally or by birth). People on here tie themselves up in knots to keep saying "Israelis" when we should just say Jews, because it is more factually correct.

And to the PP, do you really think the indoctrination is one sided? There are plenty of jews who grew up in Israel (and outside) who have spoken online about their childhood experiences , how they were taught that 'Arabs' were animals, had no soul, were backward, ate their own faeces, couldn't read or write and so on. So I don't think it's fair to say the Palestinians are indoctrinated, they are just passing on the account of oppressive events.

I think it's fair to say Palestinians are indoctrinated far more than Jewish people are. There aren't terrorist training camps for children in Israel. Schools in Israel don't teach children to hate Arabs. Whereas the opposite is unfortunately true in Gaza. And these were supposedly schools run by UNRWA...other schools I think had even worse indoctrination. Whist the families of suicide bombers can get paid for blowing up Jewish people I can't really see how there will be peace. And this includes the west bank....how can it be legal to have a "martyr fund"?....it is really mind boggling.

People with guns can intimidate and coerce which is why I often find some of the rhetoric on here with regards Palestinians, repulsive, at times ludicrous and very naïve. People caught between a rock and hard place i.e Hamas and Israel.

Nope but you certainly were denying the harm that living under Israel occupation and illegal blockade does.
Is there a reason for that?

ArtTheClown · 19/01/2025 18:45

I'm actually so disgusted right now. After Hamas brought hell raining down on Gaza for over year, these well fed men now put on their nice clean uniforms and pile into their nice clean pickups and parade around the streets of Gaza waving their guns like they're some sort of heros, and didn't spend over a year using the civilian population as human shields.

On what are you basing your first statement? Why do you think it's fair to say that? If you look up Miko Peled for example, he talks a lot about the indoctrination within the Israeli school curriculum.
@SpunkyCritic I'm not pro Hamas at all, I think 'but Hamas' is a very convenient shield to hide years of murder and abuse behind. Israel has been committing atrocities decades before the birth of Hamas. @Halbiiamz anyone who dies in Palestine as a result of murder due to the occupying forces is considered a martyr, whether that be a an 80 year olf man or an unborn foetus.

True. But photos clearly show Hamas were having to use guns to keep the mobs of civilians away from the hostages during their release.
Still their chants of wishing death to Jews can be heard though.

That's the horrifing part. As angry as I am to see Hamas swaggering about the streets, it was only their armed presence that stopped that mob getting their hands on the hostages.

As they said, terror camps for children. The Martyrs Fund. I agree that there is hatred and prejudice on both sides it is institutionalised to a far greater extent in Gaza because its run by a terrorist religious dictatorship. Iff you grow up believing in the virtue of martyrdom & knowing you and/or your family will be paid for killing Jews you are going to know that your society thinks is a good thing. The PA will spend more than 170 million dollars on salaries through the 'martyrs fund' .https://www.jns.org/661-terrorists-tied-to-oct-7-to-get-pa-pay-for-slay-stipends/

Hamas' Indoctrination Of Children To Jihad, Martyrdom, Hatred Of Jews

Hamas operates a vast and diversified apparatus to indoctrinate children from a very young age to love jihad and devote their lives to fighting the Jews, and to seek martyrdom as the ultimate glory that is highly rewarded in Paradise. This indoctrinati...

To all of you going on about de radicalisation and other bullshit rhetoric . Who do you think is the biggest recruiter for hamas ? Do you think hamas would be able to recruit people that lived in an equal and fair society ? Israel's occupation and apartheid state is by far the biggest recruiter of hamas .
How many young people that lost everything will join hamas now ? This "theory" that they can eliminate hamas is complete bullshit as long as their is occupation there will be hamas
And why is no one talking about how many "prisoners" or "terrorist" are held in israeli prisons with no trial ? Get your head our of tour butts and stop being so delusional

You must have missed the horrifying part where the Israeli cabinet members have stated death to Palestinians. This isn't about good cop/bad cop, there are murderers and horrible people on both sides.

Why was it such a public release? It defies belief.

It's just free publicity for Hamas. More propaganda to be used against Israel and to intimidate any Palestinian who dares object to their authority.

The exchanges of the hostages should be held in a safe space. Romi, Emily and Doron must have thought they were going to be lynched.

The place/time of the hostage release would have been agreed upon as part of the ceasefire agreement. I don't think it defies belief at all. Hamas doesn't need any "free publicity", this conflict has been all over msm and social media, all of which are free. I think now, more than ever the world are more familiar with Hamas and Israeli names as a result. Re propaganda, Israel have been fairly robust in producing their own negative imagery in the last year or so.

I think the online propaganda has been very successful for Hamas. There are people in the UK who have been brainwashed and need to be de- radicalised.
I hope there is fairness and equality in Israel and Gaza. It will never be achieved unless Hamas is removed.

Yes but not as israel is now they have expanded their territory dramatically ! All
Illegal settlements should be removed .

stomachamelon · 19/01/2025 19:47

@argyllherewecome rhetoric I remember. Actual baying mobs whilst hostages who have been held over a year are being 'delivered' whilst people (starving and downtrodden people???) chant at them and try and to string them up IS beyond belief. There are children there on both sides.

The justification of terror on here js inexcusable. They and you should be ashamed.

wholettheturnipsburn · 19/01/2025 19:50

Why would Hamas have to protect the hostages from civilians

Aren't all civilians in gaza innocent?

argyllherewecome · 19/01/2025 19:52

Palestine have agreed to the two state solution, it was right wing Israel who have repeatedly blocked and strategically blocked it. I think there is the outward acceptance that Israel exists, but the wounds that have resulted are so deep. It's up to Israel to make amends.
@OpheliaWasntMad I don't think people have been brainwashed, unless you think that means they have been fed lies to cover the actual truth? Israel's atrocities towards the Palestinian people has been amplified greatly in the last year, and yes many people have finally come to the realization of the truth. Israel have historically worked very hard to deflect any attention away from their harms and wrongdoings, but in this social media filled world that is much harder to do.

ArtTheClown · 19/01/2025 19:53

Please show us where Hamas has agreed to a two state solution? Not according to their Charter, which extolls the elimination of the Zionist state aka Israel and the death of all Jews. HTH.

Palestine have agreed to the two state solution,

If that's the case it's rather odd behaviour to be chanting 'death to Jews' and trying to attack hostages.
