Discussing this with friends
I'm quite appauled that it took the death of 50000 civilians (mostly children) before a warrant was issued.

When will the arrest warrant for tony Blair be issued???

A friend said that this is war and to get over it. Aibu in thinking the arrest was correct?

I know families wiped out. And refugee camps set on fire. I mean it has been going on for over the last 75 years.
I'm so glad that Warner brothers are going to release a movie about the nakba.
Found it really sick that netflix deleted their movie of the Palestinian who saw all her family die before her eyes and her house get occupied.

I think the coverage of the Christian palestians has been utterly shambolic.

The orthodox Jews have separated themselves from netanyahu and say what he is doing is wrong.

All news outlets in Palestine removed by Israel.
Israel has controlled their water supply amongst other things for years.

Another friend said "what if the European pagans just came to UK and said that this is their land and they want it back and then they remove all of us to Devon and then try and take Devon"

And yet here you are, posting on the internet after sundown on Shabbat.

Actually not, I'm in Vancouver Canada:)

There's always a post telling people they're not well-informed on a topic that has been discussed in every corner of the globe, on different media forums for decades.

@9021Pho You think genocide- the killing of tens of thousands of innocent men women children and babies is funny??? What kind of human are you?

Sunflowersinwinter · 22/11/2024 19:12

EvilsElsasPetSnowman · 22/11/2024 16:10

There’s sources to say Israel is ending a controversial restriction of justice currently carried out in the West Bank - not quite what you described though

I know you might not agree with me because you may think I am biased but even the Shin Bet have voiced their opposition to today's bill that was passes. The ones who are celebrating it are the far right extremists like Smotrich. It does alot of harm to Israel's international standing for the sake of the extremist settlers, many of whom would never have been held under administrative detention even if the bill wasn't passed.

Currently there are approximately 7 or 8 settlers held compared to thousands of Palestinians. You might disagree if this constitutes further apartheid but anyone who wishes well for Israel can see why this is seriously problematic. You don't have to be pro-Palestine or a 'lefty' to see that.

You think trolling Jews and being a terrorist sympathiser is the humanitarian position to take? What type of human are you?

It’s not the situation I’m laughing at. It’s you.
Your post was beyond parody.

Also, just for the record, Gaza has had the lowest combatant to civilian casualty ratio in urban warfare history, even if you take the inflated death toll numbers from Hamas at face value (which you shouldn't).

Oh and even the terrorists admitted 80% were fair targets. Yeah, lying, murdering, raping, terrorists said it's 80%. You know, of that 40,000+ number they completely made up simply to dupe credulous Westerners in support of their sick PR war.

The ignorance on this thread beggars belief.

How DARE those pesky Palestinians attempt to fight for freedom, for their land back and against intolerable living conditions where even drinking water is tightly controlled.
Don't they know they should just die quietly?
They don't have weapons or an army.

The lies about Yahya Sinwar are crazy- even the Israeli authorities admitted he had not eaten for three days before he died. So much for stealing food!

And have you not heard of the acclaimed Palestinian orthopaedic surgeon who was raped to death in an Israeli prison? No moral outrage for that?
Israelis rioted in the streets- not because IOF soldiers use rape as a tool but for the right to do it unhindered.
The Palestinians are the bravest people on the planet in my eyes.

The lies about Yahya Sinwar are crazy- even the Israeli authorities admitted he had not eaten for three days before he died. So much for stealing food!

The poor terrorist, my heart bleeds for him.

But seriously, no wonder Jewish people don't want to post on mumsnet these days. When people are allowed to express sympathy for antisemitic terrorists and deny rape.

Hididi11 · 22/11/2024 20:45

Exactly.
How many people support their governments in every decision they make?
Do we support all the decisions starmer makes?? Hell no.
The Israeli people are not a representation of a government.
But can a religion claim a land from years ago??

My friends argument was....
Are all the pagans allowed to move back to the UK whilst all the Brits who have lived here for thousands of years get given Devon (or somewhere up north... yikes...jokes before ppl get offended?? )And even if you are a African pagan, a russian pagan, an Indian pagan, an american pagan, a Chinese pagan, a polish pagan, a french pagan....you can all move and reclaim your land. But don't test your DNA...it's banned. And then they start calling fish and chips their traditional dish from their culture.

You meant to write "some Jewish people". Didn't you?

ruth432190 · 22/11/2024 20:54

Humans have migrated over millennia. Everyone has an ancestral homeland of some sort. As mentioned earlier mine is a small village in Russia but it's ridiculous for me as a Canadian born and raised citizen to assume I have done divine "right" to "return" there at the detriment of it's current residents.
Would modern day Romans have a claim to modern day England just because they used to have a presence there? Or the modern day Turns claiming Bosnia simply because it used to be part of the Ottoman Empire.
People move on over time.

The point I'm making is that Israel, it's criminal leaders and those who aid and abet the zionist regime are choosing to remove themselves from the core parts of Judaism, whilst claiming to be acting on behalf of "the Jewish people". Their departure from Judaism is tragic, given that they claim to be acting in the best interest of global Jewry, somehow defending "all" Jews. This is simply untrue.

There is nothing Jewish about their modus operandi or genocidal actions.

That's very well expressed. Especially your final sentence.
Israel's actions shame Judaism.

Testing DNA is NOT banned in Israel. Stop listening to conspiracy theories that are steeped in antisemitism. Also, fried fish is a Jewish dish. The concept that Jewish people make things up, exaggerate, try to hide things and are a general threat is EXACTLY the kind of propoganda that has been used against Jews for literal centuries, including in Nazi Germany, that meant that when Jews started having their rights, their homes, businesses and jobs taken away, people applauded rather than being horrified. So please do try to be careful in what you say, and maybe educate yourself on the nuances in antisemitism.

I don’t think your argument about pagans is the bomb drop you think it is. You’re saying people shouldn’t be turfed out their homes just because someone comes along and reclaims the land. Shouldn’t this apply to Israelis then?? Israel was created 75 years ago for very good reasons to protect the few Jewish people left in the world. The suggestion people born 2,3, 4 generations AFTER 1948 should be punished for this is ridiculous.

Sunflowersinwinter · 22/11/2024 21:34

@Hididi11 there are many Israelis who were born in Israel and that is the only home they know. Whilst I am strongly against the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians and the continuous land grabs that Israel carries out, I don't think this point can be overlooked.

We can argue till the cows come home on who has more right to live there but it doesn't really solve anything in my opinion. The Palestinians deserve their own state alongside Israel and until concrete steps are not taken towards that, the cycle of violence will continue.

The arrest warrants were issued for both Hamas and Israeli leaders as both have/continue to commit crimes. Your loyalty for either side should not blind you from seeing that.

Israel's actions shame Judaism.

Do you think the fact that Iraq is lowering the age of consent to 9 shames Islam?

And do Israeli actions shame Islam too? Given nearly 1 in 5 people in Israel are Muslim.

Or is it just Jews who have a collective responsibility for Israel?

When the ICC turns a blind eye to the genocide of the Kurds by Erdogan, the genocide of the Uyghurs in China, ignores the political/religious mass murders in Iran and Yemen and Sudan, and then only issues arrest warrants against Israeli leaders and a dead hamass terrorist but ignore the live ones living in Turkey then they have lost any legitimacy.

I was wondering, with all these atrocities in the world, why this was the one people were marching about.

Hididi11 · 22/11/2024 21:59

Let's be perfectly clear. There are Jews, Christians and Muslims who have lived in Palestine for thousands of years. Yes there are Christians who have lived there for years and years and years.
Those Jewish, Christian and Muslims palestians deserve to live in their land.
Being Palestinian is an ethnicity not a religion!!!!
This isn't a war on religion. It is a war on an ethnicity.
