Discussing this with friends
I'm quite appauled that it took the death of 50000 civilians (mostly children) before a warrant was issued.

When will the arrest warrant for tony Blair be issued???

A friend said that this is war and to get over it. Aibu in thinking the arrest was correct?

I know families wiped out. And refugee camps set on fire. I mean it has been going on for over the last 75 years.
I'm so glad that Warner brothers are going to release a movie about the nakba.
Found it really sick that netflix deleted their movie of the Palestinian who saw all her family die before her eyes and her house get occupied.

I think the coverage of the Christian palestians has been utterly shambolic.

The orthodox Jews have separated themselves from netanyahu and say what he is doing is wrong.

All news outlets in Palestine removed by Israel.
Israel has controlled their water supply amongst other things for years.

Another friend said "what if the European pagans just came to UK and said that this is their land and they want it back and then they remove all of us to Devon and then try and take Devon"

Hamas are terrorists and rapists and supporting them is against UK law.

Israel indisputably belongs to Jewish people

@EvilsElsasPetSnowman

Do you support the illegal occupation of the West bank?

What’s this got to do with Israel being the homeland of the Jewish people?

Do you support the charter of Hamas to end all Jews?

Nine9 · 22/11/2024 16:02

Very welcome news and exactly what he deserves, however it does come too late after all the innocent lives he has ordered to be taken (and continues to do so). Still, it is a positive step and hopefully severe punishment is coming his way as a result.

There were no rapes committed by Hamas on Oct 7

Why do you think that? Are victims and hostages lying?

Do you want to take a guess at how long Israel was in existence before neighbouring Arab countries violently invaded because they were so furious about Jewish people being nearby?

Important to remember too, this didn't start on 7th October. Israel had been carrying out atrocities against Palestinians since 1948. To blame Ha&^s for everything (as terrible as they are and as much as I dislike them), is very short-sighted. They didn't exist till 1987... How can all the Israeli atrocities pre-1987 be explained? If people start arriving on boats from other parts of the world, forcing the native population off the land, stealing homes, slaughtering people en masse, surely one might see how this is problematic?
Put simply, if someone forces their way into your house saying it's now theirs... Would you just accept this and walk away, leaving it to them? Of course not.
I'm Jewish and my "ancestral homeland" certainly isn't Israel. It's mainly Russia (according to my ancestry DNA test kit :))... It would be absolutely ludicrous for me to rock up in the Russia village of my distant ancestors, wreaking havoc and trying to lay claim to someone's home. This is the logic used by Israel to justify it's atrocities... Claiming that settlers are simply "returning home". There's a reason why DNA testing is so strongly frowned upon in Israel.

Not quite the full picture there is it.

I think a lot of people believe that, when the few Jews left liberated after the Holocaust, the world went “My god what happened to you is awful! Here we will help you”. They didn’t. Jewish people were still fiercely hated the world over, their homes had been taken away (yet again) and no one wanted them. The movement to reclaim Israel, that IS their homeland, had started long before WW2 when pogroms were in force throughout the world. Finally, after everything they’d been through, after being starved, tortured and having to wheel their dead relatives around in wheelbarrows, they fairly and legally reclaimed a place they could finally live in free of antisemitism. A place that was sparse, had high poverty and low literacy rates and was already occupied by a good population Jewish people and full of kibbutz.

How do you think neighbouring Arab countries reacted to this?

And what would you do - faced with Holocaust 2.0 any second, a chance to return to the Jewish homeland and live safely, what would you do?

There’s sources to say Israel is ending a controversial restriction of justice currently carried out in the West Bank - not quite what you described though

Bollocks!

It is ending administrative detention ONLY for Jewish settlers.

To quote an Israeli politician

"This is effectively the defense minister’s certification of approval for Jewish terror — a government of terror supporters. Administrative detention applies only to Palestinians. This is yet more proof of the regime of Jewish supremacy. Later, they’ll cry about ‘antisemitism’ in The Hague.
“In short, administrative detention does not apply to those whose veins flow with blue-and-white blood, members of the ‘supreme Jewish race.'”

If you define Israel to include the illegally occupied territories in the west bank too then no I don't which Is why I asked but you refused to answer.

I’m not sure what this is meant to tell me other than a politician in an Arab party has an anti-Likud opinion. Much like oppositions in the U.K. will criticise Labour decisions. Such is the joy of a democracy. It kind of dispels the myth that Israel is a far right apartheid state

LoobyDoop2 · 22/11/2024 16:20

How are they supposed to get him around a table to agree a way forward if the minute he sets foot on British, American, French, wherever soil there is a duty to arrest him? I can’t see how it’s helpful.

OK but Israel is the Jewish homeland and my point is there is a lot of anti-Semitic rhetoric out there that it isn’t. It’s not up for dispute.

If you think I believe that makes illegal West Bank outpost occupations are right you’d be wrong.

Interestingly us Brits have exiled more races and religions than you can shake a stick at and this remains problematic. Left wingers will usually fight for indigenous rights, but not when it’s Jewish people. That is interesting to say the least

It’s meaningless posturing really isn’t it. Hamas and Netenyahu’s limits know no bounds and it’s very worrying overall for the globe.

"Reclaiming Israel"... Torah observant Jews (myself included) would beg to differ.

According to the Torah, the gathering of Jews in Israel would/should only happen following the arrival of the Messiah (whom is still awaited according to Jewish doctrine).

It's rare for a PM of a country to travel for negotiations, they normally have appointed delegations who do that for them.

OK but factual history doesn’t trump an ancient book.

Where do you think Jews come from out of interest?

When the ICC turns a blind eye to the genocide of the Kurds by Erdogan, the genocide of the Uyghurs in China, ignores the political/religious mass murders in Iran and Yemen and Sudan, and then only issues arrest warrants against Israeli leaders and a dead hamass terrorist but ignore the live ones living in Turkey then they have lost any legitimacy.

The ICC have issues arrest warrants against loads of people.

I believe that there should be a two state solution, the Palestinians are also indigenous to the land and have just as much right to it. If anyone wants to see the endless cycle of violence end, they would support it too.

Why not? He has been personally invited to Hungary, he also has the full backing of the US.
