I'm surprised this hasn't already been posted but Ireland passed a non binding motion a few days ago that “genocide is being perpetrated before our eyes by Israel in Gaza”.

Tragically The Palestinian conflict has gone too far for that sort of resolution

Have the British government admitted to collusion or apologised for it?

There’s been some progress for the Finucane family at last. Hope the government keep their assurances to them this time. As his widow Geraldine said in her statement ‘After 35 years of cover-ups, it is time for the truth.’

Edited

Yeah, I'm glad for them.

Ideally widows wouldn't have to campaign and fight for 35 years for some movement on their cases though.

If the British government won't accept responsibility for murders and atrocities it's responsible for (Bloody Sunday being the exception) it's going to be hard for some people to "get over" what they did.

I don't think it's been mentioned but I think a factor in Irish attitude to this "war" is because of the Irish members of the UN peacekeepers in the Lebanon: there was of media attention on this in the 80's and 90's and the Irish government were negative about the Israeli treatment of these troops.

Look at Rwanda. People who participated in a genocide live side by side with their victims. It's not perfect but peace is always possible because most people want to live in peace and have a good life and feel safe. The majority always want to get on with normal life stuff.

Israel needs to give Palestinians the hope of a positive future: what they are doing now will just cause more terrorism.

I agree with all of this but it’s hard to see how the Palestinians in Gaza can have hope at the moment.
But you’re right about Rwanda. People can be amazingly strong and resilient and determined- especially if it’s about creating a better future for their children.
