@Dulra

"It's pretty distasteful to use the crisis in Sudan as a stick to beat people with"

Actually given the greater number of deaths and the horrific inclusion of slavery I personally see the Sudanese conflict as massively under reported.

Why do you think it is under reported?

Very good question.

No Jews, no news.

Yeah it's only because people hate Jews not because people care about the death and destruction of the Gaza people. Slightly narcissistic perspective

It is, coupled with the snide remark directed at me. Not big and certainly not clever. Wouldn't be out of place in a playground.

Nice antisemitism there, you assume I only hold this view because you think I am Jewish. I am not.

Because the majority of countries aren't denying it is happening or financing it in any way so doesn't attract the same level of debate when all are in agreement that it is horrific

he died yesterday, apparently.

  1. This all happened yesterday, infantry soldiers identified 3 terrorists in a building near the tunnels where the 6 murdered hostages were found. The soldiers (who were assigned to a training base) engaged in battle and killed the terrorists, but they did not know who they were fighting. Later the bodies were inspected by drones and one looked familiar... 2. At first the body wasn't removed for fear it could be booby trapped, so Sinwar's finger was removed in order to make the identification. It was confirmed later via dental records. 3. It's believed now that the 6 hostages who were murdered in August were kept around Sinwar as human shields, til he deemed they were slowing him down and gave an order to kill them. 4. This isn't just about revenge or justice - there is a huge opportunity now to release the remaining hostages, for whatever is left of Hxmxs to surrender - and end this war.

I’m sure there will be a legal ruling on whether it was a genocide or not. I am also hoping that people will now have more bandwidth to look at Sudan.

It's generally been forgotten. Dreadfully sad .

Didn't assume you were Jewish just think it's a narcissistic stand point to assume no one could care about the people of Gaza

Seriously you're using a propaganda article to accuse a poster of using propaganda

Why do you say this publication is propaganda?

Just saw on Twitter “Netanyahu offers immunity to any Gazan who releases the hostages.”

Wow, I hope this helps

I so hope the news about Sinwar’s death marks a turning point for the better.

Catatonican · 17/10/2024 19:07

Excellent news re the killing of the Hamas leader. Israel's next move will be very revealing. Praying they stop the genocide (but we all know they won't, this was never just about Hamas).

Will Israel stop killing innocent civilians now

That would be a no, they've already said the killing will continue

Yes to the first sentence but your third sentence is unjustified.

TokyoSushi · 17/10/2024 19:10

Hopefully this will be the first step in a better direction, but I'm not holding my breath.

Israel has pretty much destroyed the whole of Gaza now, and taken out a lot of the Hamas leadership. If the hostages were returned, would they stop? I'm not so sure...

Bbc

We've just been hearing from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who describes Sinwar as having been behind “the worst massacre in our people’s history since the Holocaust".
He says that, while Israel "settled the score with him”, the "task before us is still not complete” - as Israel will continue its fight until the hostages are brought home.
Addressing people in Gaza, Netanyahu says "Sinwar destroyed your lives" and that now that he is dead “Hamas will no longer control" the territory, describing this as as an opportunity for them to free themselves "from its tyranny".
“The return of our hostages is an opportunity to achieve all our goals and brings us closer to the end of the war,” he says

Let’s hope the war will scale down radically and focus on finding the hostages and defeating individual Hamas fighters rather than bombing civilians.
