Apparently some experts think there are not enough other senior enough leaders left to take over. Most of the command has been taken out. They suggested not enough to bring the terrorist organisation vack together.

Maybe a new government for the people of Gaza and a new start. Massive rebuilding needed (I realise an understatement).

Hoping for a ceasefire.

I've raised this a couple of times. If Israel does indeed take down Hamas, who in Gaza would be in any position to negotiate on behalf of the Palestinians? Would Israel just carry on looking for ever smaller targets? Would Gazans respect any settlement that was negotiated on their behalf? Would another regional power, or the 57 perhaps, be able to fill the void before Iran re-establishes it's hegemony?

Could they not have made an exchange - Sinwar for the hostages and end the war?

Has it been confirmed? I know there have been rumblings for a while. I don't understand why Israel don't know the facts when their attacks are all very considered and targeted apparently. Like the link posted said that they killed 3 'terrorists' if you don't even know who they are how do you know that they are terrorists, do they wear badges? It's the same for all of these bombings, 9 terrorists killed, presumably they know the names of these people or else how do you know the people who you are targeting and killing are terrorists?

Anyway I don't think he is much of a loss if he is dead.

Edited

Really good question! I am also not shedding tears if he is dead.

Confirmed by IDF.

He'd already been released as part of the Gilad Schalit prisoner exchange, so I can understand the reluctance to let him have another crack at it.

Confirmed by IDF.

If so I hope this is the start of the end of the war. Negotiate a deal and end the war. No more bombing schools like the one that was bombed this morning. End the massacre of the Palestinian people. End the rockets into Israel. Free the hostages and free the innocent Palestinians that are held unfairly by Israel. End the occupation and let this be the start of a two state solution. Allow the Palestinians the right of self determination with dignity.

Why on earth would they even consider that after 7 October?

Because they have always said the whole thing was about “getting the hostages back”?

Because they have always said the whole thing was about “getting the hostages back”?

But not at the cost of releasing the architect of 7 October. That would be insane.

Will Israel stop killing innocent civilians now

Will hamas release the innocent civilian hostages and sending daily rockets, drones etc. Into Israel now?

Sausagenbacon · 17/10/2024 17:38

Excellent news. One less murderous bastard

Hunglikeapolevaulter · 17/10/2024 17:44

No the eradication of Hamas was also a stated goal. The different approach to achieving the two objectives did cause huge controversy though.

'Controversy' is an understatement, they are committing a genocide.

Confirmed. I hope this brings us closer to the end of the war and to the hostages coming back.

piscofrisco · 17/10/2024 17:53

Great. So now Israel can stop bombing civilians in order to find him I assume.

flowersintheatticus · 17/10/2024 17:58

Great news, Israel will never fire another bullet at a Palestinian child again, torture a prisoner or allow settlers to land grab.

otnot · 17/10/2024 18:01

Confirmed.

Excellent news, hopefully we'll now see the return of the hostages, the cessation of attacks on Israel and the eviction of hamas. I look forward to seeing the marchers celebrating it this weekend...

One last time, just because terrorists and their propagandists tell you it’s a genocide, that doesn’t mean you should believe them. Engage your brain, for god’s sake.

Seriously you're using a propaganda article to accuse a poster of using propaganda

The irony is probably lost on them.

Fathom is a perfectly well respected publication.

Will it? One of Israel's top ministers has just been reported to say that Israel will remain in Gaza for many years to come despite Sinwar's killing.
