No it was my first time - just an experiment. I am embarrassed but I made an error and held my hands up.😆. I am still fairly new so not sure what else you can do. I did a google search and saw previous threads where Mumsnetters do say they change usernames - and on the same thread (I think) . Not sure though.

I find it quite amusing and sad at the same time. To be honest, I would never think of doing something like that. Then again, I don't like fooling people.

Before the 'upgrade' it was apparently possible to post on a thread using 20 different names if you were that way inclined

After the 'upgrade' usernames would automatically default to the first name used on a thread unless it was changed manually by the poster

Probably not. I wonder how many other people might be doing the same to try to present themselves as having more people agree with them. It really does damage credibility.

It doesn't make it any better. It's like saying "Look, they did it first!".

It's not something that I would have considered either, especially not about something as important as this. It's almost funny, though, when you think about how much people argue about the credibility of sources... Except it's not. Because we're talking about the lives of innocent people being lost, threatened and changed forever in the context of likely war crimes and expressions of genocidal intent.

It may very well be against the tcs and cs and if MN wish tot ake action against me then I will take my medicine.

However, if it is done, MN will also know who else have done it of course.

Anyway, maybe time to stop bashing me - I admitted it and for what it is worth, I apologise.

I hope you are looking after yourself. I know you have been personally touched by this and, yet, remain dignified in the face of provocation by some posters. I have nothing but admiration and respect for you.

At the risk of being boring - that's exactly what the 'upgrade' was intended to do - make it more difficult

Would it be those people that have the premium feature? I hope not because it would make the whole site a joke if some could name change and others couldn't

It's funny and embarrassing enough. I don't know if we need to make her feel any worse... but yeh, it does raise some questions of credibility and kinda makes me a bit sad that we're not all discussing in good faith here.

I haven't been posting for long (used to years ago) and have learned quite a bit from all sides, and I feel like I'm starting to get to know people... makes me wonder if others are doing it too though 😳

Because usernames can be changed manually - it means that usernames are being changed on different threads. Perhaps on the same thread - but who is going to admit it?

Enough said from me. Just please don't do it again though. I feel like we all deserve a bit more respect than that.

There is something very dignified about that man, although as he says if he were to behave like the settlers we all know what would would happen to him.

Oh dear I feel embarrassed for you @keenforhelp You are taking being caught out quite well though and it’s hardly the worst thing anyone has ever done.

I do find the comparisons inappropriate. I have had some scary experiences but at no time would I consider them to be anywhere near on par with somebody in Gaza, the West Bank or Israel’s borders.

I read in Al Jazeera that some members of Standing Together attended parts of the parade to try and protect people. It’s sad that the police in Israel can’t be trusted to do this.
