Conflict in the Middle East
keenforhelp · 05/06/2024 15:07

My thread on Tommy Robinson about his counter protest about the Pro-Palestinian marches was moved to Sports though so fair's fair. This post is not about the conflict!

TakeMe2Insanity · 05/06/2024 15:46

The board isn’t labelled “the war on Gaza” it is “conflict in the middle east” totally relevant.

I agree there’s nothing remotely sporty about Tommy Robinson and his racist thugs.

A march where people chant "Death to the Arabs", call for the 'liberation' of Gaza and the West Bank, and assault journalists (including a Palestinian journalist) seems like it might have something to do with conflict in the Middle East...

Exactly.
What nonsense to suggest it has nothing to do with conflict in the middle east.

Parkingt111 · 05/06/2024 15:51

They are quite ruthless. This is the moment when the Haaretz photo journalist was attacked by far right nationalist youth. Some of them look quite young too

Another sweet talker on these boards!

Par for the course for posters who can't prove their opinions to label ideas as nonsense, does not make sense, etc, etc, etc.

It is inaccurate to say it is - it's an annual march -not about conflict. Lots of misunderstanding on this thread,
@Humdingerydoo

Parkingt111 · 05/06/2024 15:55

@keenforhelp it most certainly does have to do with the conflict which includes the wider conflict in the occupied territories.

It was this same march that instigated a war three years ago.

It's been happening every year and nothing to do with this current conflict!
As @Humdingerydoo says "it's to celebrate the anniversary of the day Jews finally regained access to their holiest site. "

I stand by what I said

It seems this year the far right have really taken it a notch up by setting up a stand handing out stickers and flyers saying 'Kahane was right'
That's absolutely nuts considering his extreme racist ideologies.

stormy4319trevor · 05/06/2024 16:14

@keenforhelp You've got people marching through the Arab quarter shouting 'death to Arabs.' That's conflict, even if they do it every year. You think it's peace and love?

TakeMe2Insanity · 05/06/2024 16:25

@Parkingt111 he clearly sounds like an extremist.

OP posts:
Parkingt111 · 05/06/2024 16:34

Yes meanwhile

Israelis gathered outside the Heichal Shlomo building in Jerusalem for the annual Flag March are chanting en masse for Israel to reoccupy and settle the Gaza Strip.
“We are returning to Gush Katif!” shouts a singer from the stage to cheering and dancing from the crowd, who repeat after him.

how does one see all this and then continue to blindly maintain it has nothing to do with Gaza or the conflict?

Inflammatory and anti-Semitic

How? Literally schooled by posters upthread that this is how Jews celebrate getting access to their holiest site (the parade). This is what the people at the parade are doing. Its a statement of fact.

But I agree people on the parade are inflammatory and anti semitic (after all Palestinians are semites).

When posters cannot counter argue in a factual way, they resort to throwing very serious accusations at others.

You will feel even more powerful when you master the art of posting your opinions, backed up by facts you have painstakingly researched from reputable sources. Try the Reuters news agency, highly reputable and trustworthy, unlike the Daily Fail.

Enough already with the constant redefining of words! I'm fucking sick of it. Antisemitism is specifically against Jews not Semitic people. It's an utterly pathetic thing to do, trying to change the definition of words. People have already tried it with other words like Zionism, and yesterday someone was trying to change the meaning of the word terrorist. Just stop it. It's a fucking bizarre thing to do, to claim that anti-Semitism affects non-Jews too. Stop trying to take our words away from us. It's not even remotely ok.

I think it's for the best that I didn't see your deleted post as I suspect it would have driven me up the fucking wall - I assume you twisted my words from earlier to make it seem a lot worse than it already is? I was respectful enough not to make comparisons between todays march and other similar events as to not minimise the harm and awful things being done today so please be respectful enough to at least not twist my words and to in general just leave our words alone.

Just stop.

stormy4319trevor · 05/06/2024 18:27

Some of these marchers are armed, and there may be more than 70 000 of them. It must be absolutely bloody terrifying for the Muslims and Christians. I hope they stay safe.

Parkingt111 · 05/06/2024 18:34

@stormy4319trevor I have seen that some arrests have been made. The video footage shows total chaos and so much violence. The German ambassador to Israel condemned the march and said the scenes 'speak of blind hate that these kids have been taught'
So quite strong words from the ambassador.

Probably about as terrified as Jews have been in London on a Saturday for 8 months.

anotherlevel · 05/06/2024 19:07

@Humdingerydoo do you disagree that they might feel unsafe and terrified? From an annual event that has been often accompanied by violence?

I haven’t seen any protestors armed on a Saturday over here. Have you?

Or is feeling scared only reserved for some and not the Palestinians?

I'm just astounded by the blatant hypocrisy. We've been told for months that we're exaggerating when we say we as Jews don't feel safe in London (or other towns or cities) during the marches and it's been dismissed outright again and again and again. We've been told the marches are actually very peaceful and there's nothing to be scared of.

But today there is acknowledgement that actually, large marches are absolutely terrifying for those not participating. They're incredibly intimidating.

The fact that people only accept that when it's not Jews saying it is fucking shameful.

And no, I don't disagree that the march today was probably incredibly terrifying for those nearby. Because I'm not a massive hypocrite.
