IDF airstrikes reportedly carried out on 'humanitarian area'

The IDF have reportedly carried out airstrikes on displaced people, in an area Israel designated a 'humanitarian area'. They told people to go there, displaced people to that area, and have now reportedly bombed it.

Airstrikes on Rafah reportedly kill 30 after Hamas launches rockets at Tel Aviv

Medics in the southern Gaza city say the strikes hit an area of tents being used by displaced people.

Media here are reporting that strikes against a military target nearby ignited a fire which spread to the civilian camp. I don’t know the truth of what happened, but the loss of life and scenes are awful, I’m so so sorry 😞

I heard that too.
The IDF were apparently precision targeting a Hamas compound they knew to be in that vicinity and this ignited a fire which spread to the camp of tents.

The IDF say they are continuing operations in Rafah as they know there are Hamas battalions there. A battalion is up to 1000 fighters. (So they must mean 2000plus.)

How many Palestinian civilians including children were killed/burned alive, in a place where they had withdrawn to where they were supposed to be safe?

35, with many many more likely hideously injured and maimed.

How many Hamas fighters from the ‘Hamas battalions’ they believe to be in Rafah did the IDF kill in this brave, thoughtful operation?

@EllaDisenchanted I am so sorry, I forgot you yourself are in Israel when I responded to your post. May you be safe from those Hamas rockets and the constant fear of attacks.

Hamas sending those rockets is deplorable, idiotic and does not even try to target soldiers as opposed to civilians.

I’m not here to pick a fight, scrolling, and I know you aren’t either. I get your anger and pain. I don’t go on a lot of these threads, but I saw what happened, and was trying, maybe clumsily, to express my upset and regret 💔

Thank you, @EllaDisenchanted and horror though I feel at the IDF, I know that if I were actually in your shoes, living there with my family, I would want to feel safe and be at peace and perhaps even feel there is no perfect way and not know what the solution is.

Never thought the day I would see this although I don't doubt if it's just lip service either

One day they will get their comeuppance

anotherlevel · 27/05/2024 12:16

It's still surprising how, not just on this thread but on others too where this is being discussed, there is so much silence from the pro Israelis about this.

Yes. This happens every time there's a high profile atrocity committed by Israel. They'll be back in a few days.

Apart from 1 or 2 actually.

Those Hamas cunts deliberately launched an attack whilst hiding behind innocent children in the full knowledge that the IDF would retaliate in this way. If a terrorist shoots at a soldier and the soldier returns fire and the terrorist holds up a child to shield himself from the bullets, who is the murderer?

Exactly. The missiles sent off towards Tel Aviv were launched from here. In full and correct expectation that Israel would retaliate. Fucking hamas hate Palestinian people every bit much as they hate Israelis.

Jessie21 · 27/05/2024 12:30

They've gone beyond defence now.

Yes, Hamas is evil. Nobody is disputing that fact.

But it is equally evil to bomb civilians. It's funny that no Hamas leaders are being killed in these attacks, but hundreds upon hundreds of innocent Palestinian women and children are being exterminated.

Are you saying that it's ok to kill thousands of civilians because Hamas hate them too? I cant understand this "logic"

You have to twist your mind in new and interesting ways to continue to support Israel's actions and convince yourself it's OK.

That's helpful. @EllaDisenchanted & @Scirocco are exchanging peace and sorrow, by all accounts they are there or have family there. I stand with them.

Jessie21 · 27/05/2024 12:42

@quantumbutterfly what about the innocent Palestinian women and children being murdered as they sleep?

Does it seems to you, that contrary to what the IDF says, this hit on the Palestinian ‘safe zone’ was intentional retaliation for the Hamas rockets?

Or do you think it was accidental ignition of a fire that spread, caused by their targeting two high rank Hamas in a compound near by? That is what the IDF said.

It will be helpful to see if an outside agency can work out which.

In my opinion you are right about Hamas launching those rockets. They will have caused terror to innocent people, all be it without harm thanks to the dome, but otherwise not done anything - least of all to the IDF.

Just an imbecilic red rag.

Seriously, what do you wish for them? Revenge?
See my pp

anotherlevel · 27/05/2024 12:50

@quantumbutterfly if you read a bit further, you would have seen I said apart from 1 or 2 as I'd forgotten to type it. Ella was included in that number. I am aware Ella lives in Israel and I am sorry to hear what she's going through and stays safe. I acknowledged this earlier on in the thread.

Jessie21 · 27/05/2024 12:51

@quantumbutterfly I wish for Israel to stop its genocide in the name of revenge.

I saw that. I was replying to a poster who wanted me to ' pick a side'.

I pick the side that wants peaceful settlement not escalation.

Perfect28 · 27/05/2024 13:28

@Jonismorf do you expect Hamas to simply sit back whilst Israel attack Gaza as they are? Why is it ok for you that Israel 'defend' themselves from Hamas but this is unacceptable the other way around?

Exactly this.

Hamas started and continue this. Place your blame at their feet.

Jessie21 · 27/05/2024 13:41

@roarrfeckingroar this didn't start on October 7. Israel have been bombing Palestine for decades.

roarrfeckingroar · 27/05/2024 13:47

@Jessie21 Palestinians have been bombing Israel for decades.

Parkingt111 · 27/05/2024 13:47

From French PM Macron

Outraged by the Israeli strikes that have killed many displaced persons in Rafah.
These operations must stop. There are no safe areas in Rafah for Palestinian civilians.
I call for full respect for international law and an immediate ceasefire.
