The IDF have reportedly carried out airstrikes on displaced people, in an area Israel designated a 'humanitarian area'. They told people to go there, displaced people to that area, and have now reportedly bombed it.

Airstrikes on Rafah reportedly kill 30 after Hamas launches rockets at Tel Aviv

Medics in the southern Gaza city say the strikes hit an area of tents being used by displaced people.

After this last horrific massacre in Rafah, those who were silent before, may feel that they can't be silent anymore.

julili · 29/05/2024 15:10

IG has also taken down the Israeli equivalent post. 👏

I agree. I've seen some people say it's too late to show support and how many deaths did it take for them to finally speak out etc. it's better late than never I'd say.

I think it is getting more and more difficult for them to defend what cannot be morally defended.

The IDF is an army, not a 'barbarous and murderous regime'. HAMAS is the 'barbaric and murderous regime' who allow no freedom of speech (as Israel does) nor elections.

Israel doesnt allow freedom of speech.

Israel maintains an apartheid regine in the West Bank and unequal treatment of Israeli Arabs, though the lives of the latter are still probably much better than the vast majority of Arabs in the world.

If Israel allows freedom of speech as you say, then can you please explain the following:

There’s been a Hamas one doing the round too probably in response to the all eyes on Rafah

Edited

@anotherlevel

Please would you explain the Hamas image to me? I don’t understand the message at all.

anotherlevel · 29/05/2024 22:16

I'm not really sure tbh @ScrollingLeaves. Probably to remind people about Oct 7th and distracting from the "All eyes on Rafah" post.

julili · 29/05/2024 22:21

Insta has censored it now anyway

Ah, I see, thank you: So it was put out by Israel to remind people that Hamas captured and killed babies on Oct 7.
Somehow I misread it that Hamas had put it out as self propaganda, and so I was flummoxed and had worked out weird interpretations.

anotherlevel · 29/05/2024 22:36

@ScrollingLeaves I don't know who created it and put it out there originally, all I know it was doing the rounds.

Re: see screen shot of what you posted.

That is unbearably sad to hear, but that child’s love was from another realm showing what a human heart is capable of.

This is from Haaretz:

Toddlers go up in flames, and the Israeli public celebrates, erases, chatters or yawns – that's what our hell looks like. When you embark on a campaign of vengeance, as the saying goes, dig two graves; Israel has such a strong desire for revenge that it is slowly sinking in a dark abyss, hand in hand with the ruins of Gaza"Yoana Gon

No end to the suffering inflicted by Israel on these innocent civilians

No supplies, hospitals to treat burn victims in Gaza

Rik Peeperkorn, the WHO’s representative for Palestine, said the closure of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt means that Palestinians who suffered burns during the Israeli attack on their tent camp earlier this week are unable to access the specialist burns and trauma care and medicines that they need.

“You can only do so much in Gaza. And when it comes to really extensive burns, et cetera, there’s no place currently in Gaza where that can be treated,” he said.

According to the UN, some 75 people who were wounded in the attack are receiving treatment at the International Medical Corps (IMC) field hospital in southern Gaza, with 25 of them in very critical condition.

Efacsen · 30/05/2024 07:52

WHO also say they have 60 trucks of medical aid in Egypt waiting to be delivered into Gaza

This is so upsetting. Burns injuries are horrific, the pain those people are in would be unbearable. It is cruel and evil to leave people suffering in this way. There is no reason to deny people proper medical care. No excuses, this is not how democratic nations conduct themselves so no one should ever claim that Israel is one.

Efacsen · 30/05/2024 08:13

Agree @Dulra it's unbearably cruel

Rafah crossing being closed is no excuse either - 17 US medics were evacuated thro' Kerem Shalom recently, other crossings are available and the IDF even took down part of the border fence to make a temporary crossing not so long ago

Where there's a will there's a way

Just heard on the news that the UN said since the attack in Rafah they are down 2/3s of the supplies they were getting into the region daily
