Camilla Tominey in the Telegraph today.
The sheer level of hatred in this article horrifies me. Am I wrong to feel so shocked by this?

@Auvergne63

The blatant racism is quite shocking.

The number of posters who seem to hang around just to mock others, yet offer nothing of their own has rendered this thread totally pointless.

Some posts cause a reaction because they are not right

Sadly no one seems to reflect on why, but they probably should.

I agree.

I think one thing we don't see in the news is the level of hatred that Palestinians regard Israel and their sponsors the UK and US. Importing people who have reason to dislike the UK is simply a bad idea. We also have to view the security of Jewish people I the UK as paramount as many would see Jews as an easy target.

I think it extremely foolish to think Palestinians are going to rock up here and be grateful if the white colonial saviour s who have saved them from the harsh realities of the middle east.

I wonder where those posters who advocate stand on small boat refugees many from Syria and Afghanistan. Should we also allow free travel from those regions as well?.Should we take massive numbers of refugees from conflict zones across the world?

.Should we take massive numbers of refugees from conflict zones across the world?

If there is a refugee programme then yes. The UK has done so in the past and will do again in the future like every other European country. You have a habit of asking the same questions over and over. I think I answered this yesterday for you.

I wonder where those posters who advocate stand on small boat refugees many from Syria and Afghanistan. Should we also allow free travel from those regions as well?.
What do you mean free travel? People from anywhere can come to the UK and claim asylum. That doesn't mean they'll be granted leave to remain. Their application will be processed and either granted asylum or deported. There are plenty of Syrian and Afghani refugees in the UK. Just google if you want specific percentages

Spot on.
And yes, it’s quite telling that the thread is allowed to be continued in this form.

Again, if people failing to agree with you and tolerate disinformation about the nature of hamas is so odious to you, there is a clear and obvious solution to the problem. Trying to police others’ speech and opinion is a one way ticket to frustration and I’m sure you have better things to do.

Hamas are a response to the situation that was created by Israel and the west. The violence predates Hamas
All the millions of angry Muslims that already live here are watching what's actually happening in Gaza and its horrific. What do you plan to do with them? Or the govethat sounds 8 million a day on people not from war zones but will leave families starvingand dying in war zones that it provides the weapons for?

I do not accept that the vast majority of law abiding adherents of the Islamic faith, who comprise many shades of opinion on all issues, are going to become a security risk as a result of this conflict, which is what you seem to be suggesting.
Some people may react in that way; but we do not set policies to cater to a violent minority. In any respect.

OhMaria2 · 19/05/2024 10:29

Limesodaagain · 19/05/2024 10:08

“Hamas are a response to the situation that was created by Israel and the west. The violence predates Hamas”
This is an oversimplification. You’re implying everything is the fault of Israel and the West.
Hamas is funded by Iran . It seems to be in Iran’s interest to destabilise the region .

“All the millions of angry Muslims that already live here are watching what's actually happening in Gaza and its horrific. What do you plan to do with them? “
I’m not sure what you mean by your question but I think “angry Muslims” here ( or angry anyone) should remember that it’s not the fault of anyone living here - Jews or anyone else. They should also remember that Hamas obviously didn’t try to protect their Palestinian citizens and are being funded by Muslims from other countries. Also - not all Muslims think the same . Many Iranians living here have a very different view of the conflict.

All Palestinians are Hamas and dangerous.
Everyone else is a blameless individual and we need to remember that.

Is what I'm getting from everyone.

Of course it's too many, but the numbers still matter a whole lot. They mattered a lot when it was discovered that all Israeli deaths on October 7th weren't civilian. You can't just say it doesn't matter because it's a bit inconvenient for your chosen narrative.

I didn't say it doesn't matter.
It's irrelevant to my position. Hamas can't be trusted. Knew that already. The IDF have caused the deaths of tens of thousands of people. Knew that too. Many of those are children. Of course.

Netanyahu needs to stop. Hamas spinning numbers to suit their narrative doesn't justify what Netanyahu is doing.

It’s not about disagreeing with each other, it’s about how the disagreement is voiced. You, amongst others, have continuously mocked, dismissed, ridiculed other posters. It’s bad faith posting, but clearly doesn’t appear to to warrant MNHQ to take action. It’s disappointing to see but I won’t be losing sleep over it.

i will show contempt for what is contemptible. So will others. If that worries you more than the disinformation and distortion which has been posted here, you need to ask yourself some searching questions.

Well the Palestinians have quite a colourful past when it comes to terrorist activities, don't they?

Palestinian groups that have been involved in politically motivated violence include the Palestinian Liberation Organisation(PLO), Fatah, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command (PFLP-GC), the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Abu Nidal Organization, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas.
Several of these groups are considered terrorist organizations by the governments of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, New Zealandand the European Union.
Palestinian political violence has targeted Israelis, Palestinians, Lebanese, Jordanians,Egyptians, Americans and citizens of other countries.

Attacks have taken place both within Israel and the Palestinian territories as well as internationally and have been directed at both military and civilian targets.
Tactics have included hostage taking, plane hijacking, boat hijacking, stone and improvised weapon throwing, improvised explosive device (IED), knife attacks, shooting sprees, vehicle-ramming attacks, car bombs, suicide attacks, and assassinations.

No, thank you. My secular Jewish husband has already experienced anti- semitism. I have no wish to subject him or our children to it and exposing them to hatred about a country where half their family live.

Was it a Palestinian refugee that subjected your husband to anti-semitism?

I'm unsure why you think you get to be the arbiter of what is "contemptible".
People have different, valid, opinions. That's OK. The purpose of a discussion board is to discuss.

I personally have not responded to you because of your aggressive and rude responses to me. So the impact you are having on me is to entrench my views about Netanyahu supporters and to shut down debate on the thread.

Other posters, like humdinger have made me think and reflect on stuff. And I would have asked her to point me at more info to look at regarding her argument, if I hadn't had posters like you being so rude.

ButtonxMoon · 19/05/2024 10:48

Humdingerydoo · 18/05/2024 22:26

Really? This again? Unless you believe that the state of Israel shouldn't exist, stop with the "Zionist agenda" nonsense.

I'm Jewish (Orthodox), so no I personally do not agree that Israel should exist as a state, in keeping with the true teachings of the Torah. In the words of the Misrah, our people were forbidden to not return collectively to the Land of Israel by the exertion of physical force, nor to “rebel against the nations of the world,” nor to “hasten the End.”

However, it can exist all it wants, what it can't do is commit genocide. Which is exactly what the Zionist agenda propogates and is carrying out. If I was a Zionist I would call you "anti-semetic" for daring to question a Jew. Not sure that would go down well for you.

PeasfullPerson · 19/05/2024 10:49

It’s hard to listen when people mock and throw insults. It detracts from the point they are trying to make. It might make them momentarily feel better, and I know it can be hard to control our emotions when we feel very strongly about something but it’s not effective.

I see that for some posters on this thread the idea of admitting refugees from Gaza makes them feel threatened and I understand that. Given that the UK government have not been an ally to these people. But also the Israeli government have decided that these people must be subjected to death and destruction, to keep Jewish people safe, so is it not possible to in amongst all the fear find some compassion for them(?) while also rejecting the idea they could live here.

And also I really do think that the idea of child refugees could be better explored.

I’m seeing two things

One no one is suggesting this, it’s just fodder

and two some posters are saying we should

But it's VERY important ignore Israels equally colourful past of terrorism, violence, apartheid, settlers and their brand of nuttiness and sometimes murderous price tag attacks, use of white phosphorus, air strikes on civilian targets, religious intolerance, destruction of farmland and water supplies, confiscation of property, detention without trial of minors, biological weapons no less, organ harvesting minus the consent part, plenty to say.

But the the double standards engine must roll ever onwards
We also absolutely must ignore how Israel came to be in the first place or pretend it sprung into bring minus any violence or theft.

Everyone is free to look any of it up but they won't . Or they'll come back with a load of yeah but hamas hamas hamas.
