UN condemned Israel more than all other countries combined in 2022 — monitor

https://www.timesofisrael.com/un-condemned-israel-more-than-all-other-countries-combined-in-2022-monitor/amp/

Indeed, and you obviously think that is completely fair.

I suspect the UN know there's no point in condemning Russia, China,North Korea, Burma, Saudi because there really are power imbalances at play. (And they have loud voices in the UN)

Israel is an acceptable political football because they're small enough and vulnerable enough.

Where has someone said they were?

They may not be celebrating it but they sure as hell are not doing anything to prevent their deaths or safeguard them

Someone said it at 07:24 :
History will not be kind to people like you who celebrate the death of children.

So many people are speaking out. History will not be kind to people like you who celebrate the death of children. You’re not the chosen ones! No humans are and this belief that you’re better than everyone else has led to this genocide. Your whole comments reeks of the power imbalance and the belief that you’re superior

Absolute rubbish, constantly discrediting anyone that stands against or up to Israel. Israel vulnerable? they are one of the most advanced military countries in the world! That does not wash any more we can all see what Israel are doing, can read their words and see their deeds.

Thanks, it is useful to quote who you are responding to. As I said they not be celebrating them but they are causing them, not sure which is worse

I haven’t even given my opinion. You asked a question as you believed what the other poster was saying was wrong and Israel hadn’t received as many condemnations by un. Quick google search first 3 news were about it.

you can make up any excuses you want. IMO I don’t think the way Israel treats Palestine civilians is much different to how civilians are treated in the countries you’re mentioning

Did you misread the quote? You asked where someone accused posters of celebrating the death of children and you were provided with examples. Who is the “they” you’re referring to?

I didn't misread anything you seem to be the one not following the conversation. I asked the poster who had said people were celebrating the deaths of children, they responded to me with the quote and I thanked them and pointed out that it is useful for people to quote who they are responding to.

The "they" is obviously the IDF I am hardly suggesting anyone else is killing children

and you were provided with examples - I was provided with one example of one poster

There doesn't seem to be much point in condemning Israel either to be fair. I'm not sure that an occupying power can ever be described as 'vulnerable'. This article would strongly dispute what you saying.

And your focus on Israel rather than any other country is because you think it will make a difference presumably. Whereas you know it won't make a difference elsewhere.

Parkingt111 · 13/03/2024 08:55

@quantumbutterfly I might be wrong but someone on another thread posted that the reason the UN keep passing resolutions is because each time they do, the US vetoes it. Whereas when they pass resolutions against other countries and rightly so, it doesn't get vetoed by the US so they don't need to try and pass it again

Don't deflect. Your comment accused posters of celebrating the deaths of children, not Israeli soldiers.

Parkingt111 · 13/03/2024 08:59

@quantumbutterfly just want to clarify I don't know if that's 100% correct so maybe someone else can fact check it but it's from what I vaguely remember

Not at all hasn't made any difference has it? But this thread is about the current conflict in Gaza so obviously that is the focus. I think if we muddied the waters with everything else going on on the world that we disagreed with it would be completely unmanageable and confusing

This thread, yes.
This topic was started because of Gaza/Israel despite there being ongoing brutal conflicts throughout the middle east, it would be disingenuous to suggest there is nothing different about this particular conflict.

I did follow the converstion. You asked where someone had said posters were celebrating the death of children. When you were provided with unequivocal evidence of this, instead of acknowledging it, you’d apparently been talking about the IDF all along. You also ignored the post that did quote you in answer your question.

So either you’re misinterpreting your own question and misreading the response or deflecting in an attempt to backpedal.
