Conflict in the Middle East

Hamas refusing ceasefire??????

mids2019 · 27/02/2024 13:31

So President Biden is under the impression that a ceasefire could be in place by the weekend ....

Queue celebration (presumably) by all those that march on the streets calling for a ceasefire.

Then we find our Hamas have problems with it!!!!! The same Hamas that are supposed to be acting in their people's intsrests

We now know who really does not want to engage in ceasefire talks and release hostages. We now know who the ire of all those marchers in London should be directed against.

I feel Hamas want this war to continue as is as they are thriving on the sympathy the war is bringing to Palestinians. The more global 'support' is demonstrated the more they feel they have a chance of being part of a post war peace

It’s entirely avoidable. Hamas can only be blamed for any aid they divert/steal. Similarly Israel can only be blamed for any aid they block.

It is still a war crime. I don’t think you understand they do not have the right to block humanitarian aid.

Lack of aid is causing death.

LessonsinChemistryandLove · 28/02/2024 17:25

Why do people keep saying that if Hamas release the hostages the bombing will stop, when Israel has clearly and repeatedly said it won’t?
Both sides are negotiating for what they believe is in their best interest, regardless of the morality. Neither gives a damn about the Palestinians.

No.

Knowingly and deliberately killing (ie murdering) thousands of children to get at someone else is seriously fucked up.

The people at fault for those children’s deaths are the people who murder the children.

LessonsinChemistryandLove · 28/02/2024 17:31

My understanding of the current negotiations was that Hamas would release all the elderly, young children and women in exchange for 400 prisoners?

Also, there seems to a lot of faux naïveté in this discussion. Of course, innocent civilians are the victims of heinous crimes during this war, as has been the case in every other war. Israel has never covered themselves in glory on the issue of the Palestinians, long before this started, so why would anyone realistically believe that they are now acting with the upmost respect and integrity?? Likewise, Hamas are a terrorist group…it’s not likely that they are upholding the rights of civilians.

They do count, the discussion was about civilian hostages as they are a different category from military hostages.

Not the only thing, but it’s got to the point that lack of aid will start killing more people than the bombs and snipers.

You don't care if they commit a war crime? By starving a civilian population?! Yikes.

@Partyatnumberten

Unfortunately I am not surprised but I think people need to face up to the fact Hamas are part of the problem and calls for a ceasefire if you think one is viable need to be targeted at Hamas as well as Israel. It always takes two to fight

“…Hamas are part of the problem…”

No Hamas ARE the problem.

How is Hamas keeping children in harms way when they are being killed in areas that IDF declared to be safe zones for children (and all other civilians) to evacuate to? Or being killed in places that are automatically protected as safe zones by international law?

Oh because I'm against the starvation of civilians by Israel I must support Hamas. What insightful analysis 🙄

I don't engage with genocide deniers so I'm out.
