Hamas refusing ceasefire??????

mids2019 · 27/02/2024 13:31

So President Biden is under the impression that a ceasefire could be in place by the weekend ....

Queue celebration (presumably) by all those that march on the streets calling for a ceasefire.

Then we find our Hamas have problems with it!!!!! The same Hamas that are supposed to be acting in their people's intsrests

We now know who really does not want to engage in ceasefire talks and release hostages. We now know who the ire of all those marchers in London should be directed against.

I feel Hamas want this war to continue as is as they are thriving on the sympathy the war is bringing to Palestinians. The more global 'support' is demonstrated the more they feel they have a chance of being part of a post war peace

Yes that is a war crime to deliberately kill a child when it is avoidable.

There have only been a few isolated reports of Hamas taking a bit of aid.

The biggest issue is that not nearly enough aid is even being allowed into Gaza.

I mean Israel's caused a famine which is a slightly more pressing problem.

Snowypeak · 28/02/2024 16:29

Defending a terrorist group is very strange of you
Objecting to the massacre and deliberate starvation of thousands of children is defending a terrorist group?

Sigh. By not allowing food in.

Parkingt111 · 28/02/2024 16:33

@lostonmars saying the same thing that most of Israel's allies have repeatedly said that sufficient aid is not getting in to Gaza is now defending terrorists?
There's not much point in a discussion with leaps and bounds like that

How do you want to assess the impact? It is estimated that only 7% of the aid needed is entering Gaza. So that’s aid for around 161,000 people out of 2.3million.

From there, yes Hamas is undoubtedly commandeering some of it for their fighters and the hostages. So say, worst case and the few isolated incidents reported to date are the tip of the iceberg. Hamas isn’t going short at all, they are fully fed, watered, and supplied. This means as a worst case, they are snaffling 1.3% of the aid Gaza needs, or enough for 30,000 people.

So Israel is responsible for denying 97% of the aid needed to Gazan civilians.
Hamas is responsible for denying 1.3% of the aid needed to Gazan civilians.

It isn’t alright for either situation although I do think Israel bears more responsibility as they have blockaded the strip. Hamas isn’t going to starve or die of dehydration, for Israel to claim that blocking aid would impact Hamas in the slightest is a red herring. It can only and has only affected the vulnerable and innocent trapped in Gaza with Hamas.

That’s a drop in an ocean of need.

They have? The issue is Israel is not allowing it into Gaza, or ensuring safe access for convoys to distribute it within Gaza- which they are required by law to do.

““It’s not a logistics problem. It’s not a logistics crisis,” Hollingworth said, adding that the food was available but that getting it into the enclave was proving nigh impossible. “We need the access,” he said.
“The level of desperation, of hopelessness, of despair is really shocking,” he added. “People are so scared because they don’t know where their next meal is coming from and they don’t know where they’re going to be sleeping tonight.”
”Even if aid trucks are able to enter the enclave, Hollingworth said, Israeli bombardment is preventing the aid from getting to those most in need, as well as “banditry, fighting and lawlessness” among the desperate population. Israel says it does not restrict the import of humanitarian supplies.
On Tuesday, the World Food Programme said it was suspending deliveries to northern Gaza until conditions allowed for safe distribution. A combination of Israel bombing, violence against truck drivers and looting of vehicles had led it to the decision, the agency said in a statement.”

Fears of famine grow in Gaza as aid agencies suspend deliveries

A UNICEF official warned that Gaza was “poised to witness an explosion in preventable child deaths, which would compound the already unbearable level of child deaths in Gaza.”

Yes.
I also object to thousands of children being murdered, seriously injured and starved.

Snowypeak · 28/02/2024 16:51

Do you?

The Bibas family are reported to have sadly passed away in an Israeli air strike. Try again.

Why should it only be civilians? Because that is what Humdingerydoo specifically posted- they claimed that there are still female civilian and child hostages with Hamas.
