Here's some info in the unit that carried out the hit - apparently the tv series Fauda is based on them.

This place is crazy

Won't people think of the poor terrorists

Unbelievable. Disgusting

What is disgusting is state sponsor murder is ok if the Israeli government is doing it.

Iwasafool · 30/01/2024 15:38

hogmanayhoolie · 30/01/2024 13:06

As pointed out by Aswad earlier in this thread

Israel can't win.

They took out three terrorists without collateral damage

And mumsnetters are boo hooing about it

It says that doctors, nurses and security staff were attacked. Isn't that collateral damage?

Desertrose2023 · 30/01/2024 13:36

the lengths and mental gymnastics that some posters go to in order to justify and excuse literal war crimes really beggars belief.

To be honest, when your back is against the wall, you lash out because having to face the fact that the Israeli government you support is becoming the monster it wanted to kill is too hard.

Auvergne63 · 30/01/2024 15:49

hogmanayhoolie · 30/01/2024 14:00

I wish I could be comfortable with supporting terrorists but I can't seem to do that

I don't see them as just bad people 🤷🏻‍♀️

Stop implying that we, posters who see why this state sponsored murder in an hospital is unacceptable, are terrorists. I am sick of this lazy, ill thought counter argument.

You need to read some of the witness statements and autopsy reports of the Hamas atrocities committed on innocent women and children including babies. That’s the reason for this. Mosad and the IDF will continue until they are satisfied the threat of further acts of brutality is secured. And what about all the hostages the Palestinian terrorists have abducted, including children.

Hamas are the Einsatzgruppen, and there is only one way to deal with them. History has taught the Jewish people that. This time they’re not going to fight back.

I thought we were not allowed to mention WW2.

Some of the responses to this are very strange. If this happened on UK soil and armed soldiers disguised as medics came in and shot and killed 3 unarmed suspects in their hospital beds posters would be saying it was fine? If you were a member of medical staff or a patient in a UK hospital and 3 executions were carried out in front of you how would you feel? This wouldn't be ok. I don't understand why Israel are held lower standards than other countries, especially when they are being provided with arms and funds.

This. Thank you.

Did Hamas follow the laws of international armed conflict ?.

Once again, Hamas cannot join the Geneva convention on the ground of being a terrorist organisation, therefore are not legally bound by it. On the other hand, Israel has but appears to totally forgotten about it. This will come to haunt them.

Thing is the US does similar, they also carry out targeted stikes and drone strikes. Would you allay that Bin Laden was unlawfully executed, for instance? Should he have been arrested and brought to trial instead?

Yes!

Desertrose2023 · 30/01/2024 16:01

From the Guardian reporting
^^
A hospital spokesperson, Tawfiq al-Shobaki, said there was no exchange of fire during the raid but that the Israelis attacked doctors, nurses and hospital security. In security camera footage, one of the undercover agents can be seen searching a man against a wall with his hands above his head.

One of the men killed was apparently already paralyzed having been injured in an earlier Israeli attack in a cemetery which also killed a 15 year old boy.

This is interesting from sky

Israeli commandos dressing as Palestinian medics to enter a hospital in the West Bank is "tactically very questionable", security and defence analyst Michael Clarke has said.
Looking at the raid on the hospital in Jenin, in which Israeli troops dressed as Palestinians and killed three Hamas fighters, Clarke noted that Hamas "had not disputed" that those shot were members.
He said Israeli forces "obviously had some intelligence and they took on the hospital".
"The issue about that is we know that Israel is going for Hamas people everywhere and there is some legal justification for that given who Hamas are and what they do," he said.
"But in sheer tactical terms to behave like Hamas and dress up like medics and move in, not in uniform as special forces but to be an assassination squad that looks very much like a Hamas assassination squad, I think is tactically very questionable.
"It will certainly convince the anti-Israeli opinion out there that the Israelis are terrorists."

not much convincing needed that the Israelis are terrorists, especially given the last 100+ days of Genocide.

And now shockingly this. for those of you who have been following the hospital thread would have seen Al Amal hospital has been under siege by the IDF for a number of days. This is the latest update by sky news:

Israeli forces have stormed al Amal Hospital in Gaza's southern Khan Younis and told people to evacuate at gunpoint, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society says.
In a statement on X, the PRCS said "displaced individuals and PRCS teams are being demanded to evacuate the building under the threat of arms".
"PRCS teams and displaced individuals are currently in severe danger," it added.
The report comes hours after the PRCS reported a woman has been killed and nine others injured by shrapnel from Israeli tank fire near the hospital.

Parkingt111 · 30/01/2024 16:08

That really should be on a separate thread but to highlight the absolute continuous disregard for all factions of healthcare in Gaza, and its terrifying that the occupied territories (west bank) might be going the same way

All bets are off now apparently. First the defunding of UNRWA (who the Israelis have always hated and wanted to dismantle) and now these escalations.

I know that is not at all what you mean but please say "West Bank" for the West Bank. The "occupied Palestinian territories" comprise all of the West Bank as well as the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. Using it to only describe the WB accidentally gives the impression that this is not the case (which is precisely what Israel claims - they like to pretend they have "withdrawn" from Gaza and they have declared the annexation of EJ, even though nobody recognises this internationally).

Desertrose2023 · 30/01/2024 16:13

Parkingt111 · 30/01/2024 16:13

I would disagree with sky news analysts to word it as 'Israelis are terrorists'
I personally don't think that even if I am against many of the actions of the IDF and the current government.
It would be better worded if it specified the actions of both the government and members of the IDF
As 'Israelis' would include civilians too

Parkingt111 · 30/01/2024 16:24

@HeidiInTheBigCity noted
In this case it was to clarify what has been happening in Gaza, might also start happening in the other OPT
As the UK foreign office said in their statement today when talking about the Jerusalem conference of settlements in Gaza, that Gaza is occupied territory

Parkingt111 · 30/01/2024 16:27

The UK is alarmed by the conference in Jerusalem calling for the resettlement of Gaza, and that Israeli ministers participated," a spokesman said.
"The UK's position is clear: Gaza is occupied Palestinian territory and will be part of the future Palestinian state.
"Settlements are illegal. No Palestinian should be threatened with forcible displacement or relocation."

Aswad · 30/01/2024 16:27

I had no idea this was in the West Bank.
So it’s only a matter of time before the same happens in Jordan or Egypt? What’s to stop them then?

I’m flabbergasted that there are people who don’t think the Israeli forces are terrorists at this point.

inkworks273 · 30/01/2024 16:30

@Parkingt111 "No Palestinian should be threatened with forcible displacement or relocation."

But bombing them to smithereens they're A-OK with.

samG76 · 30/01/2024 16:33

I think one of them was a patient and the other two were visiting to plan something (which I don't think was a new flower arrangement for the entrance or a sponsored swim to raise money for the baby unit). At least one of them had a pistol. Quite difficult to arrest people in the circumstances - I suspect it would have led to far more violence and deaths. And I don't think that gunman roaming hospitals are a particularly unusual sight in Jenin.

EasterIssland · 30/01/2024 17:29

Hope those that say Hamas dresses like citizens don’t use this excuse anymore after we’ve seen soldiers dresses as doctors/ citizens to commit this war crime
