9th October Gallant announced he had ordered a complete siege of Gaza, no electricity, no food, nothing. 10th October Gallant "I have released all restraints... we are fighting human animals...."

Now reading out the statements by Israeli Government ministers.

AliceA2021 · 26/01/2024 12:27

It sounds like they are swaying towards
SA . Or am I mishearing?

The evidence does seem overwhelming. The Israeli officials statements made about the Gazans is pretty severe in itself

Desertrose2023 · 26/01/2024 12:29

I’m holding my breath honestly. Watching on guardian live and waiting on every word!

HeidiInTheBigCity · 26/01/2024 12:29

Okay, "link to at least some measures requested" is confirmed.

This is looking hopeful ...

They could make provisional measures without making a ruling on genocide at this point.

That seems likely.

That seems likely.

They wont rule on merit - its provisional measures only. Merit will come later.

Hearing the judge read all the horrible inhumane comments, made by Israeli officials of the Palestinians in a silent court room will definitely be eye opening for many

BelleHathor · 26/01/2024 12:34

At least some of the provisional measures requested by SA are applicable.

Need to show a real and imminent risk, condition of urgency is met when the acts can occur at any moment before the full case is heard for the protection of rights.

The right of Palestinians to be protected from genocide and the right of SA to seek Israel's compliance, quoting Guterres.

BelleHathor · 26/01/2024 12:37

Does anyone get the feeling that the Biden administration has not leant on the court, basically throwing Israel under the bus, due to Bibi's and friends repeated ignoring of America's recommendations. This could be a way to get Israel to actually stop.

Damn she is quoting Netanyahu from the 18th January 2024.

Desertrose2023 · 26/01/2024 12:38

No ceasefire call then

Parkingt111 · 26/01/2024 12:40

Judge Donoghue, speaking now at the ICJ, said at least some rights sought by South Africa in its genocide case against Israel’s war in Gaza are plausible. She said: “A link exists between the rights claimed by South Africa that the court has found plausible and at least some of the provisional measures requested.”
With the reading still ongoing, the court said it recognises the right of Palestinians in Gaza to be protected from acts of genocide. Palestinians appear to be a protected group under the genocide convention, the court said.

BelleHathor · 26/01/2024 12:41

The court finds orders need not be identical to those requested, Israel must:

  • Take all measures in it's power to prevent infringing rights under Article 2.
  • Ensure with immediate effect that it's military does not commit any of the aforementioned.
  • Israel must prevent incitement.
  • Immediate and effective measures to allow aid.
  • Effective measures to preserve evidence related to Genocide.
  • Israel must submit a report within 1 month of this order of all measures it took.
Desertrose2023 · 26/01/2024 12:45

What the hell does Uganda have against Palestine?

BelleHathor · 26/01/2024 12:45

At least the judges names are being read. WTF Uganda?

Parkingt111 · 26/01/2024 12:46

International Court of Justice orders Israel to prevent genocide in GazaJudge Donoghue says the court has decided that Israel must “take all measures within its its power” to prevent all acts within the scope of the genocide convention.
She adds that Israel must ensure “with immediate effect” that its forces do not commit any of the act in the genocide convention.
Israel must also take immediate measures to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

ConnieCounter · 26/01/2024 12:46

I was wondering the same thing. Bizarre.

AliceA2021 · 26/01/2024 12:46

Emergency orders to improve and not incite genocide.

No ceasefire.

Allow humanitarian assistance in.

Desertrose2023 · 26/01/2024 12:47

There’s history with Uganda and Israel. It was previously proposed as the Zionist homeland before they settled on Palestine

Desertrose2023 · 26/01/2024 12:48

Also entebbe raid by PLO were Netanyahu brother was killed I think ?

Desertrose2023 · 26/01/2024 12:48

Didn’t realize they were so aligned politically though

They're not, Idi Amin famously denounced Zionism and was aligned with the Arab world especially Gadaffi. The current President is very much like Turkey's president Erdogan, extremely two faced.

Parkingt111 · 26/01/2024 12:52

Seeing as Israeli officials expected the case to be thrown out, I think it went much better than expected. The pressure is on and it's clear that there are concerns
The times of Israel also reported this morning that it seems Biden has told Netanyahu that he won't support a war that is dragged on for the year as Netanyahu wants

I think SA and Palestine also have history. I imagine many countries do have particular allegiances.

And sky reported yesterday that the US have opened a portal with Israel after the horrific death toll where they query all the concerns regarding cases of civilian deaths and where civilian infrastructure is being targeted and ask for a explanation
Biden is feeling the heat now
