Sounds like perpetual undermining of the UN, ICC and ICJ to me.

Should powerful nations be able to pervert the course of justice? Or should we consider most countries and humans equal?

Is it best to have two legs or four, what is better?

Well, everyone knows that one of the Seven Commandments painted on the barn by the illustrious Snowball is ‘four legs good, two legs bad.’ 🐷

Lunatics.

Because they're bullies who can win more support from lobbies with this sort of behaviour?

They should all be impeached. Any US elected official can be impeached. I think threatening the ICC is so next level corrupt that they don’t deserve to be in Congress.

South Africa asks ICJ for more measures against Israel amid Rafah assault

South Africa has asked the International Court of Justice to order additional emergency measures as Israel escalates its assault on Rafah in southern Gaza.

Israel’s attack on Rafah “and the extreme risk it poses to humanitarian supplies and basic services into Gaza, to the survival of the Palestinian medical system, and to the very survival of Palestinians in Gaza as a group, is not only an escalation of the prevailing situation”, South Africa said.

It also “gives rise to new facts that are causing irreparable harm to the rights of the Palestinian people in Gaza”.

Egypt has announced its intention to formally support South Africa’s case at the international court of justice (ICJ), which alleges genocide by Israel in the war in Gaza.

On Sunday, Egypt said its move to back the case comes “in light of the worsening severity and scope of Israeli attacks against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip”, according to a foreign ministry statement.

It further pointed to Israel’s systematic “targeting of civilians and destruction of infrastructure” and “pushing Palestinians into displacement and expulsion”.

CNN has produced this disturbing whistleblower account. I think these detainees have not had any trial and have been brought in from Gaza. I wonder if it will be used in the ICJ as they look at evidence.

@stormy4319trevor
I've been seeing snippets of this on social media.

That was a hard watch just to listen what they've been going through. It's hard to watch it all.

I am glad that these whistleblowers have opened up - the world needs to know exactly what's been going on.

stormy4319trevor · 13/05/2024 12:45

@anotherlevel Yes, and there are a small group of Israeli human rights activists protesting there, so things are coming to light and people in Israel are objecting to it. I am most disturbed by the allegations of beatings and 'medical treatment as punishment.' Also that these people may not have done anything and may later be released back into Gaza, or possibly die while in detention. I don't know if it would be relevant to the ICJ case, but if CNN reports it I imagine it will come to their attention.

Thanks for sharing this. There are undoubtedly many (mostly) men who did nothing wrong and are behind closed doors being subjected to torture. This isn’t justice, this is revenge, this is terror, this is inhumane, this is a crime.

ICJ to hold hearings over Israel’s Rafah attacks

The UN’s International Court of Justice (ICJ) will hold hearings on Thursday and Friday to discuss new emergency measures sought by South Africa over Israel’s attacks on Rafah during the war in Gaza.

The hearings on May 16 and 17 will deal with South Africa’s request to the court to order more emergency measures against Israel over its attacks on Rafah, the tribunal said.

Don't apologise ❤.

I am hoping for something positive, but if not let these judges put that on record. International law is on trial and everyone will remember.

Again, biggest love to the South African team who flew in from around the world ❤.

ICC chief prosecutor seeks arrest warrants for Sinwar and Netanyahu

A panel of ICC judges will now consider chief prosecutor Karim Khan’s application for arrest warrants.

Khan told CNN the charges against Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Al Qassem Brigades Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri, Hamas’ political leader Ismail Haniyeh include “extermination, murder, taking of hostages, rape and sexual assault in detention.”

The charges against the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Israel’s defence minister, Yoav Gallant, include “causing extermination, causing starvation as a method of war, including the denial of humanitarian relief supplies, deliberately targeting civilians in conflict,” according to Khan.
