Netanyahu generally manages to worm his way out of these situations and he seems to be working hard to prevent it, so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets out of this one too

ConnieCounter · 29/04/2024 09:38

I'm sure corrupt actors will sort it out for him.

Parkingt111 · 29/04/2024 18:13

This was reported in the times

A source on the Israeli team working to prevent ICC arrest warrants against Israeli officials over the war tells the Ynet news site of concerns that The Hague-based court could secretly issue the warrants.
They believe that those officials targeted would only learn they’re wanted for arrest when traveling to Europe.
The source also criticizes Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s conduct on the matter, saying the premier’s associates are antagonizing the court’s chief prosecutor Karim Khan, and in doing so backing him into a corner.

“Netanyahu’s people are behaving like a bull in a china shop,” the source is quoted as saying. “The question is how much diplomatic protection Antony Blinken will give when he arrives Tuesday in Israel.”

Parkingt111 · 29/04/2024 18:15

So Netanyahu won't know that the warrant has been issued until he travels?
The US and other allies are pushing back hard against the ICC with the reasoning that if the warrants are issued, then Netanyahu and the Israeli government will pull out of the latest ceasefire negotiations.

Isn’t that blackmailing ? Thought he wanted the best for the hostages and was doing this for them

Parkingt111 · 29/04/2024 18:48

@EasterIssland
These were the exact words reported, so not actually clear if Netanyahu has explicitly said it or the US are going by assumption or then it's just to add extra pressure on the ICC to backdown from issuing the warrants.

Citing unnamed people familiar with the matter, the US news outlet reports on concerns that Israel could back away from the agreement if the ICC issues the warrants.

Ah the good old U S of A, do as I say not as I do. They'll lose all credibility globally if they push this, which is in effect blackmail

Parkingt111 · 29/04/2024 19:31

@Dulra US is playing ping pong in trying to keep all sides happy (probably due to elections) so on the one hand trying to stop warrants being issued
On the other hand stating they have found 5 IDF units of carrying out gross violations of human rights against the Palestinians In the occupied west bank prior to October 7th.
But ofcourse everything is peachy because the IDF have said they won't do it anymore

At this point it starting to look like America is principally the problem. The Administration, the Opposition, the Arms Industry etc and not most of the ordinary people, who like most people are just trying to live but are represented by this band of fools.

Cherryon · 30/04/2024 21:54

The United Nations is going to end up just like the League of Nations.

The USA will use the same means to block the ICC that they used to shield their military from prosecution for the war crimes in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan over past twenty years. Also in Latin America - Nicaragua, Bolivia, Panama, Cuba last century.

EasterIssland · 01/05/2024 07:04

Netanyahu:

"We will enter Rafah and we don't care about the court in The Hague, the court is anti-Semitic"

Maybe the rest of the developed world should take the stance they did when Trump was President ignore ignore ignore and get on with things without them. I don't think America wields the same power internationally as they did in the past.

Can I ask the Jewish posters what they think of this? Do they think he's right and the court is antisemitic? For clarity, I don't think he's right. Maybe that's what he believes though, and maybe he's right. I really do try to listen and think if somebody from a race says something is racist. I also son't think claims of racism/islamiphobia etc should shut down critism.

Nethanyu has gone round the bend and says anyone who disagrees with him is anti-Semitic, unless he needs them to cling on to power, then he will pretend it didn’t happen, they did not say what they said.

Anyone calling for independent verification, journalism, investigation of what is happening inside Palestine is anti-Semitic.
All the Rabbis arrested for trying to take food to Gaza on Passover are self-loathing Jews and also anti-Semitic.
The Orthodox Jews who are devout pacifists are Anti-Semitic because they are not patriotic and refuse to fight in the IDF, how dare they protest Nethanyu’s move to conscript them.
All the protesters calling for a full ceasefire and a Palestinian state are anti-Semitic and calling for a second Holocaust
The ICC is antisemitic for even talking to those Palestinian and foreign doctors about the IDF actions in hospitals.
The Israeli Justice Department and Supreme Court is antisemitic for daring to prosecute him for corruption and to overturn his law saying he is allowed to ignore their antisemitic rulings.

He is acting like the Emperor with no clothes

Yes, I am Jewish.

Or try and influence the court?

I’ve read a comment saying USA is not a icc member. If that’s the case why are they influencing / blackmailing expressing their concern

Parkingt111 · 03/05/2024 10:56

Netanyahu is just terrible, when you think he can't stoop any lower, he has said that if the ICC issue arrest warrants against him then he will retaliate against the Palestinian Authority including withholding of tax revenues
It was reported in the times today. It's just plain bullying. Maybe he shouldn't have so brazenly committed war crimes

Scirocco · 03/05/2024 11:04

Sounds like blackmail to me!

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 03/05/2024 21:06

Sounds like perpetual undermining of the UN, ICC and ICJ to me.

Should powerful nations be able to pervert the course of justice? Or should we consider most countries and humans equal?

Is it best to have two legs or four, what is better?
