"Yemen, Yemen make us proud, turn another ship around!" was being chanted on the streets of London yesterday and last week.

I'm just interested in whether people think this is a reasonable thing to be chanting or not, because there were quite a few people chanting it. So a quick poll:

I wonder if this sort of information would make the chanters drop their vocal support for the Houthi. If not, you have to wonder why that would be.

Doubtful. They all appear a thick, chanting the latest catchy tune. No idea who the Houthis are, what country they come from and what they've done. 🤔

I suppose you’re right. It’s very depressing.

Perhaps, though, it’s better that continuing chanting happens through ignorance than through wilful decision to support Houthi attacks because hatred of Israel eclipses everything else, however monstrous.

Not much of a benefit, granted.

I'm not sure that those chanting slogans are capable or willing to do the deep thinking required to solve complex problems but they are wreckers rather than builders. Their solution is to pull everything down but I doubt they'd enjoy or survive what replaces it.

I sometimes think that as a society we are pulling ourselves apart because we don't have common purpose. The sort of regimes that force a common purpose on people are not something I would enjoy, they are generally not friendly to women.

Eluveitie, I think if they were chanting death to Israel and a curse on all Jews then it would be a hate crime. Supporting the current actions of the Houthis, which some believe may put pressure on Israel to stop it’s genocidal behaviour, No I wouldn’t personally consider a hate crime, but it’s up to the police anyway.
I’ve just done some reading about the Houthis as I dont know much about them really, very fascinating history.
I really feel for the Yemeni at the moment and I hope for the de-escalation in the entire region and for the release of hostages. We know the US is not good at de-escalation and protecting civilians and we should all bear this in mind.

The houthis are murderous antisemites who don't care about gaza.
