I just can't believe what my eyes have been seeing these past few months. It's like a never ending nightmare that you can't wake up from.

Honestly this. I haven't watched for weeks, how much more can these people take? I cannot imagine what they must be going through 😭

Reported in the Middle Eastern Eye:

A Palestinian woman whose son was holding a white flag, was shot dead during an evacuation from Gaza City.

Thank you for this thread, there is so much not being reported that I wouldn't know about otherwise.

There's no way to be safe! You could go to where you are being sent, walk there waving a white flag and still be shot!?

Has anyone seen Page Eight on Netflix? It was popping up on my suggested. Its from 2010 but you would think it was made recently.

Yes, excellent film. It's part of the Worricker Trilogy. An excellent set of films that show the incestuous relationship between Government, Intelligence and Private Companies. It always reminds me of Blair and his dodgy dossier. I still have hope that there are some real life Johnny's within the system that would do the right thing if push came to shove.

istoodonlegoagain · 09/01/2024 16:46

The reality of what's happening is truly horrendous, its not even enough to call it cold blooded murder, it's much more depraved than that.
I started watching Settlers, it's a 90 minute documentary. I'm only about 20 minutes in, and one guy talks about the early Zionist leader Rabbi Kook and how he influenced thinking. He said they were brainwashed into thinking that the Palestinians would come and thank them one day for occupying the land, as they had made it better and it was rightfully theirs anyway. It's just pure racism.

They have no shame.

SomeCatFromJapan · 10/01/2024 16:54

A Palestinian woman whose son was holding a white flag, was shot dead during an evacuation from Gaza City.

I've seen several X accounts say that was a Hamas sniper, during the November evacuation from the north.

From the subtitles, whoever is speaking refers to "the bastards" so it's hard to know who they're talking about.

Tomatoshish · 10/01/2024 19:12

Paramedics including an ambulance driver have been killed by Israel. Another 4 journalists also killed. Killed to the point their bodies are hardly a body any more.

Parkingt111 · 10/01/2024 19:48

I could not believe what I was seeing when I saw the deliberate running over the body by the IDF after being shot
You can actually see the body moving with the vehicle as it crushes him

turquoiseteal · 10/01/2024 21:10

@Parkingt111 it is so distressing and sad. Good that the Guardian are publishing it. I don't think enough of these serious incidents are reported in mainstream news.

It turns out CBC News is aware they describe Israel’s violence against Palestinians with sanitized language—and they actually believe it’s justified.
In a letter responding to a complaint filed by a reader, the public broadcaster acknowledged that they’ve used terms like “murderous,” “vicious,” “brutal,” “massacre,” and “slaughter” to refer only to Hamas’s attack on Israelis on Oct. 7.
But when it comes to the Israeli army’s bombing of Palestinians, which has killed more than 22,600 people as of Friday, CBC says they prefer to use terms like “intensive,” “unrelenting,” and “punishing.”
The more evocative and sympathy-generating terms don’t apply to Palestinian deaths, CBC argues, because Israel carries out its killings “remotely” instead of face-to-face.

Sumsummer · 11/01/2024 00:00

Why are they in the West Bank? And will the soliders face charges?

Parkingt111 · 11/01/2024 10:03

@Sumsummer the guardian article says the IDF have said they will look into it
No idea If anything will happen

This is emerging as a common excuse. I've heard it many times on many different forums. I think it's code for "we value Israeli lives more than those of Palestinians".

anotherlevel · 11/01/2024 13:12

@Toothyfruity definitely so

Some more info about the poor lady who was shot whilst evacuating has been added on MEE.

The young boy is with some family in the south, however his parents remain in the North. Absolutely unimaginable what these families are going through.

@SomeCatFromJapan
This article states it's an Israeli and not a Hamas sniper as you suggested it was said on X.

SomeCatFromJapan · 11/01/2024 14:34

@anotherlevel yes that particular article does. Other sources dispute it. It's not clear to me either way.
