@Parkingt111 Yes, I think the level of trauma, fear, grief and anger is probably high in society and that intensifies everything. So even a mild expression of concern for civilians could be seen as provoking. I'm hesitant to ask as well.

stormy4319trevor · 30/12/2023 20:44

@Parkingt111 Guardian live has some photos of a protest in Tel Aviv. They have signs that say 'stop the siege/bombing', so it looks like people are protesting the campaign.

anotherlevel · 30/12/2023 21:20

Who are they fighting?

I have no idea, I've watched that clip three times and can't see any return fire.

Toothyfruity · 30/12/2023 21:32

Maybe they thought they saw some neonates in the apartments they were shooting up?

I wondered if it might just be a promotional/ propaganda film? Not a real news documentary.

The figures of the soldiers at the start seem to me ‘heightened’ and almost pasted on against the backdrop.

But I am no expert in these production techniques - that is just my impression.

anotherlevel · 30/12/2023 21:46

@FOJN I did too and I can't see any return fire or movements to suggest there were any members of Hamas there. They don't seem to have any strategy in place and seem like they just don't have a clue what they are doing.

You should see Greg Stoker’s analysis of their videos. He rips them to shreds.

I've had no military training but running across open ground in groups and propping yourself up in the middle of a blown out window seemed distinctly amateurish.

Which is why 20% of Israeli army deaths in Gaza have been the result of friendly fire/accidents. Amateurish is putting it kindly.

That would make a lot sense

BelleHathor · 30/12/2023 22:28

It's a propaganda video, meant to boost morale and show how "strong" the IDF is.

They're not very well trained at all. Mostly former conscripts on the ground. Explains why the American military expert sent to help Israel and who co-ordinated the Fallujah ground operation, left as soon as he heard the Israeli plan. He didn't want his name attached to this disaster.

These are people used to "fighting" less powerful usually unarmed civilians. That's why the casualties are so high.

I've just watched his Stalingrad video and now I understand why so many IDF casualties are senior officers.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Assault on a palestinian in Hebron by the IDF. See how immediately compliant he was yet how aggressive they were. In the end one soldier deliberately stepped on him whilst walking across to humiliate and degrade. If he tried to protest the aggression it would have been much worse and likely to have led to being arrested

@stomachamaleon really? And how is that? Do you believe the actions of the IDF in the video are moral?

Parkingt111 · 31/12/2023 13:03

I have never hidden my disgust for the way the IDF treat the Palestinians

mostblobs · 31/12/2023 13:07

@Parkingt111 Hear hear. I don't see how anyone can defend that TBH.

Parkingt111 · 31/12/2023 13:07

If you object to what I have said then please tell me which part and why. If I am wrong then I will say so
