If you take the total number of deaths and subtract the number of women and children killed its usually roughly equal to the total number of Hamas fighters the IDF claim to have killed. This suggests that the IDF treat all men in Gaza as combatants. They've already told us there are no innocent civilians in Gaza.

That's the only way I've been able to make it add up because there always seems to be plenty of men digging people out from under rubble and carrying the injured to wherever some help may be available.

This is how the Palestinians are treated on their OWN land and they are expected to just accept it and not do anything back. If they dare to defend their land against the settlers, they will be arrested and imprisoned without charge or trial.

Do you know what the whole conversation between the soldier speaking and the stripped Palestinian men shouting answers is? And what the Palestian man in red trunks who moves from the group to sit on the kerb says?

Btw, I see a number of the posters in this thread piling on with their point of view as in other threads. Seems like a waste of time? Their names and agendas are clear with a few minutes, and using simple lexical analysis tools you can "see" the name changes too. Maybe it's their job? Maybe they have the time to waste?

The pure barbarity of the settlers. The abuse meted out is terrible all whilst the West sat by. It's death by a thousand cuts for Palestinian land.

How is observing that Palestinians are mainly brown skinned and Ukrainians are mainly white skinned offensive? It isn't.

What I don't get is how lots of people say vaguely they are "against" the settler violence yet I feel they usually don't take it seriously when it is in fact very very serious. It is almost dismissed with a wave of a hand and apparently that is the end of the matter and being "against" it is enough in their eyes.

I presume that it's keeping up appearances, to disassociate themselves from the Settlers and seem impartial.

Fully acknowledging and fighting against settler means accepting that Israel as it is currently constructed is a colonial state, which raises uneasy questions about their own status.

Some interesting polls from Israel.

Please bear in mind this poll was taken on 18/19 October, less than 2 weeks after the Hamas attack and before the true magnitude of the IDF response had become apparent. There were about 600 people polled. It’s not really indicative of the hyperbolic claim that the vast majority of Israelis are voting for a genocide. This question doesn’t seem to have been asked again in more recent polls.

@RoastSquash I just saw a clip of Gideon Levy on Sky. He said Israelis don't see the scenes from Gaza that we see here, and also that it is becoming very difficult to show any support for the Gazans in Israel. He said because of these factors there is massive support for continuing the war in Gaza. I wonder if this is true? Israelis should be able to watch international news coverage, so I would have thought they must have some idea of the horrific circumstances in Gaza.

@stormy4319trevor I saw this and I was wondering the same as you but I was hesitant to post about it, It might be worth asking on the Israeli lefty AMA to get a better understanding of people's views within Israel regarding what Gideon Levy said, even though i don't agree with all her views in regards to the conflict I have found her AMA very insightful.
I also saw he mentioned it's almost criminal to talk about the suffering of the Palestinians in Israel right now which I found worrying.

I might do @Parkingt111 , though I think he, as a person working in the media, probably has a good idea of what the media covers and how. I agree his statement that it's becoming difficult to show empathy is concerning, so maybe that is something I could ask on the AMA.

@stormy4319trevor I have seen this mentioned a few times now, including twice in interviews with Israeli's who are still continuing efforts with the Palestinians, talk about the response by peers who almost see it as aiding the enemy and how it is increasingly becoming taboo to talk about the suffering of the Palestinians. I actually wrote a whole long question about it on the AMA yesterday and then at the last minute deleted it as I was worried it would be misconstrued by others
