@Desertrose2023 I agree, children should definitely not be treated this way. I don't think adults should either, but to do this to children is another level.

Absolutely this. It is deplorable what is going on and I choose not to view a lot of it for my own personal mental health. But I suspect most of the people who have been injured or died in horrible ways would rather the world could see what is going on than it be hidden away with all of us not knowing about the senseless violence they are forced to endure.

I agree. I think the people who complain about these videos do so because they know it makes Israel look bad. It’s for that reason that they would rather the videos weren’t spread around.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_child_suicide_bombers_by_Palestinian_militant_groups

I'm guessing they stripped them due to prior history of using children as suicide bombers.

One of those links is also claiming that Israel is carrying out mass killings of these prisoners, which is a claim that is going to need some decent evidence as it's a very serious accusation.

This clearly abhorrent practice by Palestinian terrorists is not applicable here - the last confirmed occasion was nearly 20 years ago and has not been an issue during this war

The 'child suicide bombers' used by Hamas were 16-18 yr olds [20 years ago] not primary age children as seen in this clip of film - there is also a baby albeit wrapped in a blanket - are you going to fire up Wikipedia to try and find an article to demonise them too?

Management of potential suicide bombers aren't a problem unique to the Israeli army - other armies don't strip people in this way - raising/un-buttoning a top is sufficient precaution - it's clearly about something else even tho' you will deny it til the cows come home

stormy4319trevor · 26/12/2023 13:27

@Efacsen I think the practice must be normalised to the IDF and Israeli media. I remember a government spokesperson being questioned about it. He seemed surprised and commented on it being quite warm in Gaza for the time of year. Completely blind, it seems, to how shocking it seems to the outside world.

Efacsen · 26/12/2023 13:40

@stormy4319trevor I do remember that. The spokesman seemed to have forgotten that we all know it's winter now and not particularly warm in Gaza! It made him look silly - and not particularly honest

But like you say just normalising the de-humanisation of the Palestinian people in general

anotherlevel · 26/12/2023 13:46

@Desertrose2023
So do you defend the detention and stripping of children? Do you consider this acceptable behavior?

if there was truly ever a concern these children were bombers (and I doubt there was) why could they not have been asked to lift their shirts and then released immediately? Why are they stood there in the cold in their fucking underpants, with their arms over their heads heralded up amongst groups of men?

are you a parent @SomeCatFromJapan ? Do you really have so little humanity and compassion for Palestinian children that you are even prepared to try justify this behavior?

honestly I try and not react in anger to some posters anymore but these kinds of posts are truly indefensible in my view.

I completely agree.

They're also the ones that are silent on the suffering of the Palestinians

@Desertrose2023 I find the attempted character assasination a bit pathetic. Did I say anywhere that I think it's marvelous? Did I applaud? No. All I did was point out that there might be reasons for actions being taken that aren't just "Israel is evil".

anotherlevel · 26/12/2023 14:28

This has distressing content regarding the rape of a 13 year old girl in the West Bank.

Where is the media outrage for this???

braticus · 26/12/2023 14:50

@anotherlevel Horrific. I hope there will be a proper investigation into this.

stomachamaleon · 26/12/2023 14:57

@anotherlevel sorry it's an Instagram post. Are there any actual news stores on it?

Of course not, the child is Palestinian.

anotherlevel · 26/12/2023 15:08

The double standard on here is unreal

anotherlevel · 26/12/2023 15:11

@stomachamaleon of course not because she's Palestinian and apparently their lives don't matter. If you watched the post you would have heard her say there isn't any media coverage on this.

Are you denying the rape of a 13 year old Palestinian girl?

Imagine for one moment the uproar if it was the other way around.

Indeed

BelleHathor · 26/12/2023 15:55

The original source is a Palestinian Dutch journalist, The 13 year old is the daughter of his friend. The extra details are horrific, including the Hospital treatment she required and threats to her 9 year old sister if she spoke. Can it be 100% confirmed, currently not that's what journalists are for.

However there is a history of this type of treatment of Palestinian prisoners by the IDF.

The horrors that come out about the IDF in years to come is going to be eye watering.

BelleHathor · 26/12/2023 16:00

By the way its not just Palestinian civilians that are subject to assault, female Israelis (in particular IDF soldiers) are also abused.

There are no “reasons” which would ever make it acceptable to strip small children to their knickers, detain them in the cold like cattle, film them without the consent of their parents, and then use that footage of them for some pathetic IDF promo video seen worldwide. That is what’s happened here.

So if you don’t want to be called out, don’t try and find “reasons” to explain the indefensible.

You can "call me out", or as I'd describe it, resort to personal attacks, as much as you like. I'll feel free to add whatever context I wish to the discussions.

Would you accept the same logic if were to post on other threads? I think not.
