The birth rate is higher than the death rate so from a maths perspective alone they won't wipe out a people

Do you mean that there have been more than 18,000 births in Gaza since Oct 7? You may be right but I’d like to know more about this/see an article.
Please would you send a link to those statistics and information?

I think we’ve heard in relation to news about the hospitals that there have been more premature births than normal.

@XRAYTHIS My comment was addressing your point that they are making deliberate targeted attacks as well as indiscriminate bombing campaign.

Israel are targeting journalists, such as as per the sniper attacks on journalists (which you mentioned) for which there is plenty of evidence you will find.

I can't personally speak to if they are targeting sports people in particular however given their performance to date it wouldn't surprise me if they are.

They are also using indiscriminate bombing attacks as per this link

Exclusive: Nearly half of the Israeli munitions dropped on Gaza are imprecise ‘dumb bombs,’ US intelligence assessment finds | CNN Politics

Nearly half of the air-to-ground munitions that Israel has used in Gaza in its war with Hamas since October 7 have been unguided, otherwise known as “dumb bombs,” according to a new US intelligence assessment.

To be honest I don't know how many were born in that period but was comparing with a year assuming as war ends deaths fall from the actual war.

There were reports at the start of the war that 40,000 women were due to give birth within a few months. I cannot remember where from now but recall being astounded at the huge number of pregnant women.

I'll see if I can find birth rate

Edited

I see, thanks for clarification.

66,000 births a year.

From Save The Children

'Save the Children found that more than 66,000 babies are expected to be born in Gaza in 2023 with 5,500 pregnant women due to give birth in the coming month at a time when people are being cut off from essential supplies.14 Nov 2023'

@ScrollingLeaves Good point. I shouldn't have taken the tweet at face value and I can't actually find another source so I've asked for my post to be removed.

It is so difficult to know isn’t it? Someone could have added those words as a sarcastic caption in order to impute that it is the sort of thing they might say.

It was good of you to take it down given the uncertainty.

what does this have to do with documenting Israeli army racism and torture? Please keep on topic. Thanks.

XRAYTHIS · 15/12/2023 12:10

Although the conditions to give birth in mean that many of those babies are at risk. Awful.

XRAYTHIS · 15/12/2023 12:14

I was addressing a point made on carpet bombing earlier and how the death rate due to maths meant it would be 250,000 deaths.

Also a point made regarding genocide as in wiping out Palestinian people as per genocide aim of Israeli army which also many claim.

However, realise my comments or logic are not welcome so will leave the thread.

Have a great day.

XRAYTHIS · 15/12/2023 12:15

The birth rate post was replying to someone asking what the birth rate was @ scrolling.

However, as I said not welcome so I'll leave.

This is what Israeli heritage minister had to say about the soldiers desrespecting the mosque. Keep in mind he is far right and I don't think represents the views of the majority but still a horrible way to minimise and dismiss such an act

When asked about the suspension of the reserve soldiers who was filmed singing in Hebrew on a mosque loudspeaker in the West Bank, Eliyahu said: “It’s as if for our morals we are not willing to be a little cruel. To win, you need a little cruelty. To win, you have to be a little scary.”

Palestinian mother who was due to give birth to triplets needed special care and was referred to a hospital in Jerusalem. She was granted the permit. She gave birth 2 months early. Her permit expired so she had to return to gaza without her babies. She was denied access to collect her babies. After 4 months they allowed her to go back to collect them to find out 2 of the babies had died.

So for 4 months she was denied access to collect her babies who where only 1 hours drive away and when she arrived she had lost 2 of them and was unaware.

Thank you for the details.

So presuming at best 5,500 babies born that month and about 8000 Palestinians killed that month, the deaths cancel out the births, and the births do not replace the deaths. There is a shortfall I think.

That is if all those 5,500 mothers/babies stayed alive - which obviously not all of them would have by any means. And some of those newborn babies who are alive so far but very ill, may not make it, given conditions there.

If the population stayed static instead of growing, that would not be typical for Palestinians, but it does even not look as though it is static in this period.

Re: Is this discussion still on the thread topic?

Yes I think it is as this discussion arises out of the question ‘Are the Israelis bombing the Gaza Palestinians to extinction?’

Xray said ‘no’ because of the high Palestinian birth-rate.

I asked for more details which Xray gave, and then responded.

Sadly I do think he represents the majority of the Netanyahu govt. These are the very foundations he has built and helped him stay in power for so long,

I just saw it. He put his hands up straight away to show he didn't have any weapons. They came back for him to beat him. And the world watches.

Parkingt111 · 15/12/2023 13:09

If he had committed a crime and I'm not saying he did but if somebody comes along to say well he might have done something then surely the response would have been to arrest him.

He wasn't fighting back so why did they keep hitting him over and over again so aggressively. And there's so many of them too.
The IDF keep on doing things like this and we only get to see what is recorded otherwise how many other incidents are there that are not even recorded. How can people still say that they are moral and upright when there is so much proof contrary to that.

Molymoly · 15/12/2023 13:15

@Parkingt111 exactly. They know they can do whatever they want and get away with it. It's sickening.
