This is from the Free Press and Peacecomms,

“I don’t know where my father is. I don’t know if I will ever see him alive again. My hope in telling this story to the public, and putting my name to it, is to somehow offer my father a measure of protection.”

On December 30, twenty masked men abducted Mohammed Mushtaha, a respected imam in Gaza. “He knew that refusing to act as a megaphone for Hamas could lead to his death,” his son Ala writes, “and yet he refused.”

I saw that yesterday, it's horrifying.

@Stomacharmeleon there is nothing in that post that suggests she is working for Hamas. It is all based on speculation and can be applied to just about every independant journalist in Gaza who is unsurprisingly speaking out against the people who are currently bombing their people to bits

"75 years of occupation" - doesn't sound like someone you want to be defending, really. Unless, of course, you agree that all of Israel should really be Palestine.

Parkingt111 · 06/01/2024 10:19

@Humdingerydoo I said there was nothing in the post that @Stomacharmeleon put up that verifies she is working for Hamas as that could be applied to just about every independant journalist. I didn't say I have looked at and agreed with every single one of her posts

stomachameleon · 06/01/2024 10:32

@Parkingt111 that's your opinion. Mine is that you can't say Hamas have a stranglehold on an area then have certain people (in new vehicles) allowed open access.
She has a very interesting Back story if you look at her in general and her work history.
I am comfortable with the assertions in these posts.
There have been numerous posts overnight from unverified sources regarding Israel and the IDF so I am interested in what's available from the other perspective.
People aren't allowed to speak out as we have seen on other posts or not toe the party line. They disappear or are murdered.

stomachameleon · 06/01/2024 10:33

In Gaza clearly not on Mumsnet.....

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/01/2024 10:43

You had me worried for a minute!😮

Parkingt111 · 06/01/2024 10:44

@Stomacharmeleon yes I see your points which is fair enough if that's what you believe.
What are the unverified claims BTW? I haven't had a look
If it's quite serious then it normally gets picked up by MSM but a day or so later

This is a Internet forum where everyone is always ready to pounce 😂 or I would have told you abit more about what I know on the ground

stomachameleon · 06/01/2024 10:49

@Parkingt111 I have reported them to Mumsnet but basically the multiple posters at four in the morning. From dodgy sources.
Anyway I believe they are being looked at.

stomachameleon · 06/01/2024 11:04

In the early days of the war Bisan made several misleading posts about the bombing near the Baptist Hospital in Gaza. Hamas immediately claimed that it had been bombed by Israel and nearly 500 were killed. Bisan went further in an Instagram reel and said Israel told people to evacuate to the hospital and that Israel proceeded to bomb it. She said the fatalities were in excess of 800 exceeding even the figures claimed by Hamas.
Israel denied responsibility for the bombing and Canada, U.S, UK and France intelligence services are said it was likely from an errant rocket misfired in Gaza. These third party assessments also put the death toll at lower than the 500 claimed by Hamas.
Even human rights watch declared it was unlikely the rocket had come from Israel.
I have the utmost respect documenting the horrors of war for all to see but she wears a press jacket, spreads misinformation and makes no effort to correct anything on the record.
There is no free press in Gaza....

This is an interesting article about Israel and the British media.

I wouldn't call that "information". It's dog whistling. They should say it out if they have something to say about her specifically.

stomachameleon · 06/01/2024 22:43

Anyone who thinks there are journalists reporting openly that are not approved by Hamas in Gaza is..... hmmmmm there is no freedom of speech in Gaza!

stomachameleon · 06/01/2024 22:45

@XRAYTHIS she has history so I am not entirely surprised.

I think they’re saying quite clearly that Bisan is a Hamasbara mouthpiece and rape-denier.

We were discussing the man being dragged through the hospital. You talking about a hostage receiving medical care makes it sound like you're talking about him - deliberately misleading, as I said.

Anyway, care to comment on if the footage does indeed look like a man being taken in for medical care?

I don’t agree it is “misleading” because both hostages are present in the second part of the footage. I have already commented on the fact that it is inconclusive as to whether the second hostage (blue shirt) was also in need of medical care. It is not a war crime to take a group of hostages being held prisoner together into a hospital when one of them requires medical care. It is clear the other hostage that was bleeding with a bandaged hand and a missing leg that was with blue shirt hostage in the hospital hallway as part of the same group was receiving medical care.

I am commenting on the legality of the actions based on the information currently available.

Hellenika · 06/01/2024 23:19

Humdingerydoo · 05/01/2024 15:37

So what makes you think they weren't doing the same with the other hostages mentioned on this thread? 🥴

I suppose you can assume that it is the same for all hostages even though that would be directly contradicting what other hostages’ have testified happened in their case (are you calling them liars?), and/or jumping to conclusions based on inconclusive footage.

SomeCatFromJapan · 06/01/2024 23:21

Speaking of hamasbara 😂
