Appreciate what you're trying to do @Brumbies and fully support it.

There’s reports coming out about how the hostages were treated and it must be terrifying for the families of the people and children still held captive.
How anyone can be saying they were treated well is beyond me.

from bloomberg:
The Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum said that Hannah Katzir, one of those released, lost 20 kg (44 pounds) in 50 days of captivity and didn’t receive medication she needed. Others were given limited food — rice, hummus and beans — and slept in crowded conditions. One freed hostage, 84-year-old Elma Avraham, has been in critical condition in the hospital. Her pulse was 40 and she was covered in wounds, her daughter Tali Amano told the Times of Israel.

I believe it is a disturbing mindset, that can place terrorist and good treatment in
the same sentence.
Terrorists are excellent manipulators; effective results of such manipulation is endlessly shown on the board.

I think the reason people have been posting about the crimes of the Israeli military is because it’s not really being reported on mainstream news.

Hamas’ crimes have been widely reported and condemned (as they should be!) but the atrocities that are being carried out by the IDF are mainly being ignored (and have been for years!) I think the fact that the five newborn babies left to die alone in Al Nasr hospital by the IDF hasn’t made headline news is a prime example of this.

I don’t agree at all with people saying that it looks like the hostages have been treated well, I think if they were, it was for practical reasons, not because Hamas are caring individuals and I think it’s crazy to see it any other way. It certainly doesn’t excuse their horrific actions on 7th October, and the fact that the hostages were violently kidnapped in the first place!

Everyone I have spoken to about this in real life has been fairly balanced, condemning both Hamas and the response of the Israeli military.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 30/11/2023 12:56

This is absolutely false! Both media and social media are full of criticism and reporting of what Israel is doing, has done, has been accused of doing, both in Gaza and the West Bank. What has become a much smaller story, and almost forgotten on parts of social media including this disgusting racist forum, is the horrific massacre and kidnapping of jews on October 7th, and the full story and history of the region which would help give context to the current conflict. Coverage is heavily weighted against Israel, when clearly theres a lot going on and this conflict is far more complex. Posters are now trying to minimise the trauma the hostages have faced by posting nonsense and lies about Hamas and how fucking nice they are.

Unbearably sad 😥 Hamas are animals.

Please don't insult our wonderful friends
from the animal kingdom.
Hamas are monsters.

EasternStandard · 30/11/2023 13:18

A hard thread to read. The suffering is so great. I don’t have the right words to express how sad and abhorrent this is.

LifeofBrienne · 30/11/2023 13:19

If you want to convince people how does it help to post a load of links with no description?
Personally my main concern is the 5500+ Palestinian children alone that have been killed and the humanitarian conditions in Gaza but I do find it quite disturbing that Hamas get whitewashed as ‘Palestinian resistance’.
Even if I had a TikTok account I wouldn’t click on random links that probably have graphic violence in. The people you want to convince certainly won’t.

Interesting update from Human Rights Watch who seem to agree on balance of evidence that the hospital explosion was a failed munition from a Palestinian armed group

https://www.hrw.org/news/2023/11/26/gaza-findings-october-17-al-ahli-hospital-explosion

There’s so much misinformation out there and it’s quite hard work to keep on top of what’s verified or not. I assume/hope you’re posting this here to add to the list of deaths Hamas has caused, not to imply that Israel isn’t bombing hospitals, schools and refugee camps in Gaza.

I'd like to see some of the young women from the Nova Festival released. Until then, I have nightmares about the fate that probably befell them.

AbsoluteYawns · 30/11/2023 13:49

Thank you @Brumbies
I know this thread will fill up with the usual suspects soon who seem to almost idolise them..so adding my voice of support for what you are doing.
Hamas are absolute monsters.

Depdawg · 30/11/2023 13:49

Didn't take long for the record to become scratched.

That answer is not nuanced at all. It is meaningless really.

But this is a thread about Hamas atrocities. Did you not understand the OP? That's embarrassing.

ginasevern · 30/11/2023 14:13

It's interesting that those in the West who so fervently support Hammas are also those who would most vehemently call out male dominated organisations, the oppression of women and violence against women and girls. By defending Hammas they are in fact supporting all of the above.

👏 👏 👏
Plentiful gaslighting.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 30/11/2023 14:36

@ScrollingLeaves please stop. Put it on another thread. Having a thread dedicated to Hamas and evidence of their crimes does not mean anybody involved in the thread supports all of the IDF's behaviour. Don't derail this thread too.

Important correction re: the stabbing of the Palestinian pregnant woman walking her two children to school- I had read that an Israeli was the perpetrator and repeated that here.

This is almost certainly wrong.

(Palestinian ) family members are currently under investigation for this brutal and tragic murder. There was a getaway car, it was filmed on cctv. It seems likely the Israeli police will have clear evidence to go on.
