Why is this not in the mainstream news? I thought there was a ceasefire!

@Depdawg I'll always blame the person who pulls the trigger. Democracies don't act like this, by the way.

So you apply your rationale to any shooting, in life?

Parkingt111 · 30/11/2023 13:05

@Depdawg even if and that's a big 'if' that he was throwing something then in the cctv footage you can see he is unarmed and running away
He died from a single shot to the head
If they were trying to be preventative they would have shot at his legs not that I even agree with that

stormy4319trevor · 30/11/2023 13:06

@Depdawg Let's stick to thread topic

feralunderclass · 30/11/2023 13:08

This was an execution of an 8 year old, because he's Palestinian. He was shot from behind, on the back of his head. Even if he did have an explosive device in his hand, and there is no evidence to show this he should have been immobilised with a rubber bullet to the lower half of the body. Sadly, this indiscriminate killing of Palestinians is nothing new 💔

No, I live I a real world, where I see the bigger picture/threat.
blame those brain washing these children
to risk their lives.

So the soldier who shot dead a child running away bears no responsibility? It is this kind of attitude that means they get away with murder over and over and over again. Children are the product of the environment they grow up in and the IDF and Israel have contributed to that environment as well

And are you assuming he was radicalised from birth because he's Palestinian? What about Christian Shireen Abu Akleh, journalist shot and killed last year? Was this justified by her being radicalised from birth? This "radicalization from birth" has become an anti Palestinian trope and needs to stop. This 8 year old is being branded a terrorist by people like you, with zero evidence other than him being Palestinian.

I agree with your last sentence.

They were suspected of throwing explosive devices at troops.
Just thought I would add that crucial point.

Perhaps, and that is important context. But if the suspects were running away, you dont shoot surely?

You go after them and arrest them?

stormy4319trevor · 30/11/2023 13:17

@Depdawg Women are not guided by emotion. They are just as capable of rational thought as men. Violence begets violence. The IDF treatment of Palestinians is not working, see the terrorist attacks today. The tactics of violent suppression create misery for everyone there. At this stage, other countries must step in and have a peacekeeping presence.

Yes it is awful
I disagree about guided by emotion, as said by a pp women are just as capable as rational thought.
I don't believe babies regardless of ethnicity/nationality can be radicalised

Saying that I do know that unfortunately there has been cases where children/teenagers have in some instances been co-erced to carry out illegal acts

However I have been following the history of the occupied west bank for many years and this is not something new where children are being killed in a single shot or something that came into practice only after the war started

It has been going on for many years and has been heavily criticised by many, infact you will find Israelis who criticise the tactics employed by the IDF in the west bank too

In this particular scenario you will find very few who will condone it, he was unarmed and running away
If they deemed him to be a severe threat, although there is no proof to suggest this then he could have been shot even in the legs

The shot in the head was designed to kill.
Regardless of one's stance in this war I don't think you will find many people who defend this and its just another example of the brutal reality for those who live there

There are many issues that need to be addressed in the occupied west bank and to put the blame squarely on one person or side would be naive. However instances like the above will only serve to aggravate a situation which is already extremely tense

All innocent life loss is tragic. Maybe now that these issues are coming to the surface, they will finally be addressed rather than brushed under the carpet which will eventually bring about a meaningful change that is much needed

This is incredibly racist. There is nothing at all to show that this unarmed child who was running for his life before he was gunned down was radicalised. I'm saddened that people feel safe to openly air their predijuce and to attempt to justify the killing of a primary age child who was running away and a danger to no one.

Chaitales · 30/11/2023 13:51

Absolute heartbreaking. They are children.

For those posters justifying the cold blooded murder of a children bc they were raised in hate/suspected of something - please let us mourn the child's death instead of point scoring. Please.

@Jupitersstorm where's your evidence they were "breaking the law"?

2/3 of the prisoners recently released by Israel were never charged with any crime. Most of them children.

Show some humanity rather than spouting such empathy lacking, cruel soundbites.

I can't quite believe the hatred these people have in their hearts to say such things. It really is quite something. And it does nothing to further the Israeli govt cause. Just makes the whole lot look more heartless and cruel, amplified by those posters voicing such cruelty on its behalf.

No wonder the world is waking up.

It's an easy Google - there is an apartheid system of law, where Palestinians can be charged and held in a different legal system than Israelis by the govt govt. Most "prisoners" are held without being charged for years, plus tortured in prison and deprived of human rights.

Also if you suspect a crime, you shoot on sight? Where in the world is that ever legal? Would it be the same if you suspect an Israeli citizen of crime?

What if its a child?

This is about people's lives, not point scoring on the Internet.

There is really no need for this coldness. An unarmed child was shot in the head and killed as he ran for his life. There can be no justification for that.

Malificent1 · 30/11/2023 14:44

Our world’s esteemed western leaders have done such a good job of pretending that Palestinian lives mean fuck all, that they don’t even feel compelled to say a single word when a 9 year old child is shot dead in broad daylight by foreign troops that shouldn’t have even been there in the first fucking place.

The only saving grace from any of this is that our younger generations have not been fooled. They haven’t swallowed the bullshit and they’re not afraid to say so. Israel’s propaganda wagon is losing its wheels. About fucking time.

I think the poster was suggesting a solution though I agree that he/she could have sounded more empathetic. My opinion is that the IDF do not shoot indiscriminately but only do so when there is a threat to life.

MN is a good look at people's inner reactions when horrors happen in society. I wonder if it had been around in the 1940s, 1970s, 80s, 90s, 00s, how they would be championing the Holocaust, Vietnam, Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, Iraq, to name a few. It's easy to see how these were acceptable.

The IDF is well documented to shoot indiscriminately. Why did they shoot Shireen Abu Akleh, wearing a press vest? What about those 4 kids on a Gazan beach in 2014? The IDF has one of the most sophisticated intelligence and warfare systems and Gaza is one of, if not the most, highly surveilled city in the world. Palestinian lives are meaningless to IDF, just blood lost for a bigger cause or for sheer hatred

Stop derailing this thread BTW mourning the loss of a child. Take your rhetoric elsewhere please.
