“Pause” ends tomorrow. Anyone else filled with dread ?

Just that really. I’ve felt such relief the past couple of days that my phone won’t be filled with a constant stream of murdered Palestinian kids and wailing parents. That all ends tomorrow and I have such a sense of foreboding even though I’m safe and comfortable thousands of miles away. I can’t begin to imagine the dread the Palestinians in Gaza must be feeling tonight knowing their genocide resumes tomorrow. When will it end 😞

And there's plenty more examples of Palestinians and Israelis who have been good and kind and treated each other well. But we don't hear much about that because it doesn't make great catchy headlines

Including so many of those killed on October 7th. They attacked kibbutzim - they were not in any way military targets. Many peace activists lived there & were included among the dead, and the hostages.

Okay, setting aside whether he is or not (i dont know if he is anti semite or against Israels military aggressions) if these songs and statements are indeed true representation of what is being popularised in Israel, do they not count as calls to hatred and genocide against a people?

Very easy to google Lowkey's antisemitism. Well documented & noone takes him seriously as a source.

Anotherdayanotherdiet · 02/12/2023 09:23

have a word with Hamas. Don't blame Israel.

Israel is accountable for its actions. It can’t blame everything on Hamas.

ChickHenLittle · 02/12/2023 09:51

Agree with @Anotherdayanotherdiet Israel needs to be held fully accountable for its actions. Hopefully the responsible government and IDF officials will also be punished through the justice system, but that remains to be seen.

Yes that is correct. I only sadly found out more about the work and efforts they have been doing after the attack. Again as I said, mainstream news doesn't generally report things like this.
And this sadly makes their deaths all the more tragic

Parker231 · 02/12/2023 10:16

Israeli legal and human rights groups also said that Israel is committing the “crime of apartheid” in the occupied territories in breach of international laws .

The UN also said that Israel may be committing the war crime of collective punishment through its siege of the Gaza territory. The International Committee of the Red Cross agreed.
“The instructions issued by the Israeli authorities for the population of Gaza City to immediately leave their homes, coupled with the complete siege, explicitly denying them food, water and electricity are not compatible with international humanitarian law,” it said.

Unfortunately Israel doesn’t recognise the authority of the International Criminal Court in The Hague and the US support Israel in that they can’t be investigated for war crimes.

Parkingt111 · 02/12/2023 10:39

@SharonEllis i don't know who the PP is talking about but I have just done a quick Google about the song that was mentioned and it's correct. This is from the times of Israel

Ness lends a feminine counterpoint to Stilla’s bravado, but her verses are equally militant. After complimenting all the men in uniform for being handsome, she raps, “For mom and dad, all my friends are at the front, for grandma and grandma, let’s write names on the bombs, for the children of the Gaza envelope.”

“Pause” ends tomorrow. Anyone else filled with dread ?

It's quite disturbing that much of the inflammatory hate speech aswell as inciting violence in this song against ordinary Palestininas including children has become so popular and loved rather than condemned.

This is what scares me. I hoped (and wanted to believe) that most Israeli civilians were against the war. Songs like this becoming the most popular on various platforms doesn't fill me with confidence.

In addition, Dammi Falastini was briefly removed from Spotfiy for "inciting against Israel", but reinstated after widespread uproar (and an apology from Spotify). The song doesn't incite hatred at all... so why is this song inciting hatred against Palestinians allowed to stay? It should be banned from streaming platforms, it's impossible to pretend it calls for anything but the eradication of Palestinians.

I would imagine most Israeli citizens are in favour of what ever gets rid of Hamas. They are probably rather afraid of them now.
However these songs are, as a pp said, inflammatory. Are there are no laws against hate speech in Israel?

PeasfullPerson · 02/12/2023 10:55

Humanity at its finest! A horrible example of how the dehumanisation and fear of an out group can lead to cruelty. They probably think this song demonstrates strength, I think it demonstrates a group of people who are thinking with their primitive brains, along with the help of biased media.

It is really disturbing. It's being pushed more and more. I see it on this site - trying to define all people from Gaza as Hamas in order to justify their genocide.
I think of Zombie written in response to the killing of two children and Sunday Bloody Sunday U2's song a call for an end to it all.
I think how all my contemporaries felt , how we wanted peace, to work with each other and how I still can't watch films of torture and violence. I think about how I didn't want to hear another friend talk of their father shot in front of them and his blood spattered over him. His body spat on. I look at the Israeli young instagrammers and this No 1 song calling for more violence and I despise them.

Anotherdayanotherdiet · 02/12/2023 11:16

I have noticed several posts trying to claim that the crimes of October 7 were perpetrated by the general population of Gaza rather than Hamas. It doesn’t take a genius to work out the agenda behind that reasoning.

Chaitales · 02/12/2023 11:18

ohforheavenssakedearcomeonnow · 01/12/2023 22:41

Of course not, but then Israel have not taken any innocent civilians hostage which caused the conflict.

Israel has hundreds of people hostage (they call them prisoners), held without charges, no access to legal justice, in a differing system to Israeli citizens, and subject to violence, and if they die, their skin and organs harvested without consent. For the last 75 years. Verbal gymnastics aside, this is as abhorrent as anything Hamas is accused of, except that it's a proscribed terrorist organisation and Israel is a government which calls itself a democracy and these injustices are overseen by the world's democracies.

I have seen the increase of this rhetoric in recent days all over social media and even by prominent figures. Its not just a silly tiktok trend. It's gaining traction and becoming more and more socially acceptable in some places to demonise all or most of the Palestinians

This is extremely concerning as history tells us that when a government wants to gain support for their attack on another people or state they often use this tactic so they don't much opposition in their actions.

Is there examples of radicalisation? Yes
But I'm not naive enough to think that there's only one way this is carried out, and theirs only one side doing it

Some of it is done overtly. And some in plain sight for all to see

Katy231 · 02/12/2023 11:35

I don't really understand Israel ... I thought it was supposed to be a westernised place but it doesn't sound like it is. The people aren't very forward thinking are they? ... How can the general population cheer on LGBTQ+ whilst also wanting children to be bombed?

The fact that song has gotten to number 1 has really confused me. It's disturbing.

Silence1 · 02/12/2023 11:47

@Parkingt111 The old use of fear and coercion by those in control, be they terrorists or Govts, to manipulate their populations to an endless cycle of violence.

BabaBarrio · 02/12/2023 18:00

This was published a month ago, when the death toll was 5 fold greater than that in Israel compared to the 10 fold greater it is now.

It is worth noting after a dozen posts dedicated to Israeli hostages, that the just as innocent dead civilians in Gaza all have names and had lives too.
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/longform/2023/11/1/know-their-names-palestinians-killed-in-israeli-attacks-on-gaza

I’m so tired of hearing blame Hamas, it’s Hamas fault that Israel’s military is committing war crimes. It’s like saying Satan made me do it. Israel is the occupying force with the superior military numbers of troops and arms. Its leaders are responsible for their choices, they cannot claim to be puppets of Hamas.

Know their names: Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza

A Palestinian child in Gaza is killed in an Israeli attack every 10 minutes.

Except in this case, idf is playing the part of Satan
