@Parkingt111 there have been 3 episodes today

The first ?mid-morning was in central gaza when Israel fired a tank x3 at people trying to move back north IDF said it was only x1 and a warning shot

Then there was the firing incident described by @Readingallnight in northern gaza

And finally Hamas have accused IDF of flying surveillance drones in northern gaza during the drone-free hours

Readingallnight · 28/11/2023 16:05

In the early days there was a delay in hostage release due to Israeli drones flying over Gaza.
That was, I believe negotiated on Saturday.
So this means, then, it’s happening again.

Surely, it’s obvious to the IDF etc that if there are drones flying over the Ceasefire area it is highly likely Hamas will not be able to get hostages out for release.
Or is that to be blamed on Hamas.

A big thanks to
@Parkingt111 and @Efacsen for their invaluable research on all matters.
It helps us all keep abreast of potential misinformation and inflammatory accusations.
Whichever way the research swings

stormy4319trevor · 28/11/2023 16:21

Absolutely, thanks @Efacsen and @Parkingt111

Thanks guys I'm embaressed now

And now there's this

PRCS {Palestine Red Crescent]

Urgent: The Israeli Occupation forces are denying the entry of the fuel truck which was supposed to enter the north of the Gaza Strip a few moments ago.

Readingallnight · 28/11/2023 16:32

This is such bad news given how badly it is needed.
On tenterhooks

Could this mean the end of the truce,
and the end to further negotiations

Efacsen · 28/11/2023 16:36

@Readingallnight keep up hope - 2 Palestinians died on day 1 and the ceasefire held

Parkingt111 · 28/11/2023 16:38

Thanks
All the pressure to get it right though lol but there's so much conflicting information at times so do correct me when needed

Just to add to the above
The truck was carrying fuel to support the work of seven PRCS ambulances operational in northern Gaza, it said. It was accompanied by 31 humanitarian aid trucks containing food, water and relief supplies, it said.

Parkingt111 · 28/11/2023 16:39

However the latest update on the guardian is according to the Egyptian ministry Hamas has started handing over the hostages to the Red Cross
It's not been confirmed by anyone else yet

Readingallnight · 28/11/2023 16:42

Wondering if there’s a connection
Given this is all happening at exactly the same time that the Palestinian ambassador is making his speech at the UN general assembly along with others too and the general feeling there for the people of Gaza.

Its not going well for Netanyahus general goal

Parkingt111 · 28/11/2023 16:45

Oh yes that's happening tomorrow isn't it?
I think there will be a general push for a ceasefire but I'm unsure how likely it is to happen

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is on his way back to the region. His priorities: to secure more aid for Gaza, the release of hostages to seek "protections for civilians".

from the above it seems like the US accept the war will continue but just wants Israel to minimise deaths
Unfortunately another report today said the situation in Gaza is so bad that it could lead to more people dying from illnesses than even the bombs

Efacsen · 28/11/2023 16:58

There was also a programme on Israeli TV last night where emails concerning Hamas training to invade a kibbutz have been leaked - the intelligence person thought the information was ridiculous and binned it

And some weird stuff from Iran saying the US think Israel is losing politically and militarily - and privately want a permanent ceasefire - ?propaganda or grain of truth

Readingallnight · 28/11/2023 17:01

Well @Efacsen i wonder
Heres a piece of analysis from Al Jazeera re who is at the table for negotiations
There could be some truth in what the US are thinking.
Theres clearly more thought on a permanent ceasefire now

I see Ahed Tammimi is on the list for release. Apparently her lawyer said she was about to be moved to administrative detention - which I understand means basically indefinite imprisonment. She was first imprisoned for slapping and kicking an IDF soldier, after her cousin was shot in the head with a rubber bullet, She served 8 months, then was re-arrested 3 weeks ago for a social media post her family thinks is fake. She's quite a well known figure internationally, so it will be big news if she is released.

I didn't see the programme, but saw it reported in the Guardian. It sounds bizarre that the info was just dismissed!

@stormy4319trevor it sort of fits in with the theme of under-estimating Hamas capabilities ie Hamas maintaining radio silence in Gaza whilst plotting 7/10 and going to Turkey/Qatar to talk about it where Israel surveillance didn't reach and conning Israel into believing that they were quietly getting on with running Gaza

stormy4319trevor · 28/11/2023 17:26

@Efacsen Yes, maybe they were complacent, though I think the Israeli public might be furious about it.

OP posts:

@stormy4319trevor agree it was a fantastic piece of intelligence

Readingallnight · 28/11/2023 18:46

Reuters announced ( 20 mins ago ) that Hamas has / are handing the hostages over.

Lets hope the Israeli Govn do the same as the reports coming out from the released Palestinians are crushingly sad.

Conditions in the prisons, which were appalling anyway, have deteriorated further since Oct 7th.
They are now more overcrowded since thousands more have been detained that there are people crammed into cells too small for the numbers, there are no beds, no clothes with some forced to sleep in underwear. Food is reduced ( one meal of 9 eggs to share between 10 for example ).
Mistreatment and beatings by the Israeli police
Women and girls treated such that “ no one wants to speak of it “

However
With more taken by the IDF since the ceasefire started than released these conditions aren’t going to change until the International Community speak out.

Efacsen · 28/11/2023 19:19

Excellent news

BBC seem to think there might be more released tonight??

Readingallnight · 28/11/2023 19:21

@7.02 pm GMT Israel confirmed 10 Israelis and 2 Thai National arrived in Israeli territory. ( bbc news )

So it shouldn’t be long before the Palestinians also arrive back.
No confirmation who is being released though or indeed whether the transfer has started

Do you mean more than the 30 number already agreed in the truce
Or more than that.
