At least a bit of good news in the darkness:

Israel's cabinet has approved a deal with Hamas to secure the release of 50 hostages being held in Gaza.

The hostages will be released over a four-day pause in fighting, a statement from the Israeli prime minister's office says.

Under the deal, the release of every additional 10 hostages will extend the pause in fighting by one day.

The deal was approved by Israel's cabinet after a lengthy meeting that ran into the early hours of Wednesday.

Where have Israel said that about palestinians? If Israel wanted to eliminate Gaza then they could do that very swiftly. If Israel are genocidal then why are 20% of Israelis arabs including Palestinian Arabs. Why did they drop leaflets and tell civilians where to go thereby endangering Israeli troops by revealing their location and battle plan. Why, even after 12,000 hits are there only such a small number of civilians killed. We cant trust Hamas figures so if 10,000 are dead then half of these might be hamas. If this is even remotely true then Israel has managed the most amount of hits with an astonishingly low amount of civilian casualties and clear proof that they are doing everything possible to minimise civilian casualties despite Hamas using them as Human shields. hamas on the other side have always called for genocide against jews and use their own people as human shields.

itsmyp4rty · 22/11/2023 10:11

Neither side is interested in peace. They both just want to get the other side out either by stealth or by violence. I just feel for the kids caught in the middle of all this shit.

Permanent ceasefire and then an end to the occupation, that would be Israels best move for long lasting peace and security

There was a permanent ceasefire agreed in 2005 when Hamas took over Gaza. Hamas continuously broke this because it is in their charter and their duty to kill all jews and eliminate Israel because hamas are genocidal. That is why they are designated as terrorists.
The Israeli occupation ended in Gaza in 2005.
So what you suggest was already in place and Hamas broke out and declared war on October 7th.
hamas do not want peace with Israel.
I wish people would try and understand hamas and to listen to hamas. They continuously put out statements saying all of this and we just ignore and brush them off.

eardefender · 22/11/2023 10:29

I don't think this deal is good for Israel. This enables hamas to still keep hold of 190 or so hostages which is still a huge amount. Hamas want all drones to cease so that they can move around and better prepare themselves, this will include moving not just equipment but civilians into human shield positions, which will cost more civilian and IDF soldiers lives.
Allowing ceasefire for hostages prolongs the war and also increases the value of hostages meaning that in the future it is more likely that Hamas and other terror groups will use the mass hostage tactic, which is pretty unthinkable.
The hostage situation has caused so much grief to Isreal do they really want to go through that again. It gives Hamas so much power.
Many are now questioning if 1,000 really should have been exchanged for Gilad Shalit, also bearing in mind that of those 1,000 bolstered Hamas and led to the attack on October7th.
I think they should have allowed the IDF to rescue hostages. They were probably a few weeks out of being able to rescue them all. However i do realise that many hostages probably would have died this way.

Has there been any announcement regarding how many Hamas operatives have been killed out of the 13,000+ dead?

Yep, I've been waiting for that info too.

they're not interested in understanding who Hamas are because if they did try to really understand and do some actual reading, it would overturn their entrenched israelophobic, antisemitic views.

You're completely ignoring the blockade of Gaza by Israel. Very disingenuous of you when it's central to the entire situation.

I am so relieved for them and their families.

Wow. Your thoughts on this really blow my mind. Such disregard for the lives of both Palestinians and the hostages held by Hamas.

@Toothyfruity Its a terrorist state so they are right to blockade and have security and to be fair, they should have had much more security and control of their border, otherwise October 7th would have been prevented. Blockades have not damaged hamas ability to steal aid and become billionaires and live in estates in Qatar, so clearly it hasn't affected their finances. The problem is not Israel the problem for Gazans is Hamas who steal from them and brutilize them. Hamas don't put Gazans in prison, they torture and murder them. After what Hamas did and has always done, do you really think Israel is the problem?

Yes, I definitely think Israel is the problem. Hamas wouldn't exist if Israel just respected Palestine's borders and its people.

I am so sorry to say this as all decent people are desperate for their return but Hamas are so unreliable and have a track record of reneaging on deals and breaking ceasefires (see October 7th). I just cant see this going smoothly, I think that quite a few of the hostages may have died or been murdered. The so called 'green prince' said that Hamas loves Chaos and they thrive on it. This doesn't bode well for an orderly handover of hostages. The IDF have said they are very skeptical about Hams ability to stick to a deal and carry it out. We can only pray for these kids.

Can you explain what your definition of a palestinian is and what the borders of 'palestine' are?
It is baffling that you find Israel the problem, They are a democracy and the only one in the middle east and the only Jewish state in the world. They have been fighting antisemetic terrorism for decades.

Out of interest, besides calls for jihad of Jews across the globe (which extends to all non-Muslims) what do you think Hamas would like to do to YOU and your family and children, given the chance? Hamas are your enemy too, whether you can see it or not.

I suspect Hamas doesn't give a shit about me or my family.

But I don't buy into the nonsense that Hamas wants to take over the world.

how do you explain the underage Palestinian children in Isreali prisons? One Palestinian girl is 16 , one prisoner is 14.

you can’t just repeat a lie and hope everyone else believes it without questioning it.

Genocide is Hamas's intention. Not Israel's.

Listen to a former Hamas member on what the Hamas are doing to Palestinians. Torture, imprisonment, indoctrination, rape, starvation, shoving needles under their fingernails.

Hamas needs to be eradicated. If Hamas gave a shit about Palestinians they would leave Gaza and not use them as human shields and suicide bombers.

Israel advises where they are going to bomb so that people can evacuate.

Jupitersstorm · 22/11/2023 12:32

Pretty generous of Israel given that this will time for Hamas to regroup.
