How do the clear, logical thinkers manage to remain ignorant of developments despite the information being readily available and them often being signposted to sources on these threads.

I wonder if in their "clear logical minds" they think "you're emotional" passes for a fact based argument.

I suspect the IDF will claim it's to ensure that the men aren't armed but we all know it's about humiliation and control.

An ex IDF soldier who now speaks up against human rights abuses was talking on R4 recently... His name escapes me. Anyway he was saying that one of the MOs of night raids on homes are to get women in nightwear (ie not suitably dressed in front of a male stranger) to be publicly exposed. This is two fold - obviously the humiliation but also men in the household will be more compliant and other neighbours won't assist, because they know the undressed women won't want to be publicly exposed. I saw a documentary about the Jenin Refugee camp recently and a woman was saying she only takes her hijab and outer clothes off to wash, she sleeps like that as they know the soldiers get a kick out of them being exposed.

@Rammer maybe you missed this update

A doctor inside the hospital, Ahmed el Mokhallalati, told Reuters gunfire outside the compound has forced staff to hide from the windows.
"Bombardment. Shooting around the hospital and within the hospital. It's really horrible... And then we realised that the tanks are moving around the hospital," he said.
"They just parked in front of the hospital emergency department. All kinds of weapons were used. They targeted the hospital directly. We try to avoid being near the windows."

Also a very good point if the IDF are in the hospital so why haven't they allowed fuel In to run the incubators to prevent the deaths of the ill babies? Surely whilst inside the hospital they can oversee this so why haven't they done it yet?

@Rammer this was not emotive
It was a response to your post with a question you asked

Roste · 15/11/2023 12:27

There will be no evidence, everyone knows that. There will be dead Palestinians, traumatised Palestinians, humiliated Palestinians and devastation. Israel will announce themselves heroic victors, the Arab states will
continue to look the other way and the Nakba of 2023 will become history.

stormy4319trevor · 15/11/2023 12:31

@Rammer I truly hope there are no casualties, but it seems unlikely given the high number already caused by what we are told are highly precise operations. I think there is shooting at the hospital because it is being attacked, making the area unsafe for patients and those sheltering. I do not know how quickly a committee could have been arranged, but it wasn't even attempted as far as I know.

The UN Secretary General said this didn’t happen in a vacuum. I’m sure many people share that view and they shouldn’t be unfairly targeted for saying so. There is a difference between understanding and condoning. I don’t think that peace can be achieved without there being space for people to openly discuss the events that have led to this.

@Rammer I think a more civilised approach would have been to allow an international committee with the UN to inspect the hospital for evidence of this tunnel and command system. No shooting required. But Israel went ahead and attacked the hospital instead.

Exactly and that is what Hamas suggested but no sooner was that suggestion made than the IDF rolled up with guns and bulldozers.
That speaks volumes.

If there was a ceasefire ‘waiting for this’ would not mean more deaths.
The offer was made and rejected by Israel.

@FOJN your points can be made without the repeated personal remarks. This constant nastiness on these threads is ironic given you're all asking for peace apparently. How about you display some of the kindness and decency you claim to want of others.

unfortunately @Rammer is saying the same thing over and over again. Whilst appearing to be ‘interested’ they are simply gaslighting and winding people up.

Evidence is offered, reasoned arguments made then they are back again with same old same old. I’m sure many MNs, like myself, are exhausted by it.

Personally, because there is no reasoning, I’ve given up. I’d like to read reasoned arguments on both sides but sometimes it’s best to scroll past the derailers.

Scolling on…….

I think @FOJN made a robust rather than 'nasty' comment. There were no insults. FWIW I'm taking @Rammer in good faith as they have not been personally insulting either, as far as I remember.

I addressed the issues raised in your post in a fairly organised fashion. You are now free to respond.

I pointed out that your post is almost a duplicate of what you wrote yesterday, people engaged with you then and here you are posting the same thing again.

Anyone can go and review your contributions on the previous thread to check if I'm correct.

Now tell me more about hamster wheels, is it a hasbara strategy?

Its far easier just to ignore someone than make personal attacks. It appears a few of you are unable to do what you expect of others.

I can't. I can not in all conscience condemn the 7th October attacks which were deplorable and inhumane without also condemning what the IDF are doing because like it or not they are linked. They are both despicable and inhumane acts.

No repeatedly calling someone ignorant is personal.

No personal attack here.
The poster has done this on another thread, nothing new.

I do not owe patience to people posting the same thing repeatedly.

I made no demand for kindness or decency, although a little bit of that in Gaza wouldn't go amiss right now, I stated an expectation that a democratically elected government should adhere to international law. Many, including ourselves, have failed to meet that standard in the past but that goes not mean we should accept such egregious disregard for it.

stormy4319trevor · 15/11/2023 13:05

@Iwantcakeeveryday @FOJN did not repeatedly call someone ignorant. She commented that if material research has not been done, there is ignorance of the subject on display. Reminds me of one of my old lecturers at Uni, who criticised sharply but was an incredible teacher. You could take offence, but that would be silly if you want to develop critical thinking. We can all learn!

You are obliged not to make PA's though. Lots of posters are repeating themselves on this board, constantly. Just ignore the ones you don't want to hear, scroll past the name.
