The White House has said it does not support the targeting of hospitals.

they need to demand it stops and condemn it in the strongest way possible. "we do not support..." is not good enough.

feralunderclass · 15/11/2023 09:26

Scenes of complete devastation in the hospital. Doctors are taking it in turns to 'hand' ventilate a young girl with a tracheostomy 😭💔

greatsatsuma · 15/11/2023 09:28

@feralunderclass and to think all of this was completely avoidable and unnecessary. So much for "most moral army", more like least moral army! And the world is watching and will not forgive Israeli govt and defence forces.

TakeMe2Insanity · 15/11/2023 09:29

Dr Ghassan the UK dr at Al Shifa on instagram says lots of drone sniper attack injuries on neck and backs.

I’ve seen some footage on tv and it looks like carnage outside, compared to how it was a few days ago.

Parkingt111 · 15/11/2023 09:31

A doctor's account
This is on sky
"Bombardment. Shooting around the hospital and within the hospital. It's really horrible... And then we realised that the tanks are moving around the hospital," he said.
"They just parked in front of the hospital emergency department. All kinds of weapons were used. They targeted the hospital directly. We try to avoid being near the windows."

Ardi Imseis, Assistant Professor of Law at Queens University and former UN Relief Works legal counsel said Israel has historically targeted civilians and buildings with protected status.

Absolutely disgusting

beachcitygirl · 15/11/2023 09:37

Israeli Government really are the scum of the earth. I want to see all of them in The Hague answering to this.

I'm not sure that all information is correct but on the other hand there's this information that people are just batting away so there's no way to talk to people who are considering everything....

So many eyewitness reports but so few photos or videos, (unlike the clearly visible and verifiable reporting from
Gaza).

Israel says it wants to preserve the victims dignity. Of course I understand that. But when you’re using these incidents in Israel as justification to kill 11,000 people and make over a million people homeless in 5 weeks you need more than verbal accounts from Israeli supporters.

One thing that could and should have been done was to ask a team of international medical specialists to be involved in post-mortems, treatments of injuries and interviews with victims. This international team could then have presented a verified report to media to back up the accounts while preserving victims privacy and dignity.

You can’t expect people to simply accept these reports with blind faith when they’re being used as justification for what’s currently going on in Gaza.

greatsatsuma · 15/11/2023 09:37

And to think some people still trying to defend this.

OpenLanes · 15/11/2023 09:37

This is horrific, but why on earth is the media publishing a hamas statement alongside it about Israelis killing children and innocents.
Firstly it's making it appear to people unsympathetic to Palestinians that hamas speak for them.
Secondly it's giving legitimacy and a voice to a terrorist organisation.
Thirdly it's going to feed into the narrative that its a conspiracy theory that hamas killed innocents.

WatTyler · 15/11/2023 09:54

Most of these allegations are Hamas propaganda, as I imagine the better informed among you realise.

If Hamas would stop putting their headquarters under hospitals and launching missiles from kindergartens, the IDF wouldn't have to attack those places.

Hamas cares nothing for ordinary Palestinians, who they have robbed blind of the billions of aid money Gaza has received over the last 16 years. Hamas don't even want them as human shields: they want civilian casualties, especially children, to stir up exactly the sort of condemnation we see in so many threads here. Hamas are desperate to force Israel to withdraw, in order to have the chance to regroup and rearm prior to breaking any ceasefire again, with undoubtedly an even more brutal and outrageous surprise attack than 7/10.

There will be a ceasefire when the IDF has killed the last member of Hamas and destroyed Hamas' infrastructure, not before.

greatsatsuma · 15/11/2023 09:56

I know propaganda when I see it. Coming straight from the IDF twitter feed and lots of pro-Israeli govt posts on here.

The man I quoted above, Ardi Imseis said bringing in a 3rd party to verify accounts and to assess for Hamas military presence in protected buildings was the way forward, but Israel blocked this.

Hamas propaganda *
The IDF is Israeli

Thereissomelight · 15/11/2023 09:59

Hamas propaganda?
There are innumerable videos of multiple bombs and rockets hitting Gaza, along with destroyed buildings and dead children. How is this Hamas propaganda?

Of course there would be many more videos again if Israel would allow international journalists in to Gaza.

greatsatsuma · 15/11/2023 09:59

@OpenLanes yes, the IDF spreads propaganda.

SomeCatFromJapan · 15/11/2023 10:00

I wonder where some of the posters here think Hamas actually is, in Gaza?
The rockets are being fired from somewhere, but every time the IDF say they've identified a target, posters here say it's propaganda. It's like Hamas has ceased to exist or something.

PeasfullPerson · 15/11/2023 10:01

Both Hamas and the Israeli government are so intent on ‘winning’ that they are destroying each other and thousands of civilians. If you believe this is what Hamas wanted then the Israeli government must be incredibly stupid for playing into it and not showing more restraint. If they hadn’t already killed so many civilians and they truly believed they had a case for going into the hospital people might have more trust in them. They’ve already ballsed it up.

greatsatsuma · 15/11/2023 10:03

Martin Griffiths, the head of UN humanitarian operations, has criticised Israel’s actions within the al-Shifa hospital compound, saying he is “appalled”.

In a post to social media, he said:

I’m appalled by reports of military raids in al-Shifa hospital in Gaza. The protection of newborns, patients, medical staff and all civilians must override all other concerns. Hospitals are not battlegrounds.

From the Guardian.

I've no idea where they are (how would any of us know?), but until tangible evidence is produced by Israel they should not be shelling schools, hospitals, evacuation sites. This is what all of the human rights civil organizations are saying.
Shooting doctors, nurses and engineers walking across the hospital compound is absolute proof that there is more to this "security operation" and the world have seen it now.

Largely in the tunnels going by IDF statements
Ofcourse some targets will be legitimate
The amount of civilian infrastructure destroyed is shocking though
Also whilst this is happening there are still daily bombings in the south
Which include schools and refugee camps where thousands of displaced are seeking refuge causing a huge loss of life

What should the Israeli government do?
Obviously the current solution isn't good. But I've yet to hear of an actual solution.
If it was your family members butchered and tortured in that way, and then being held by the "people" who did it, what solution would you want?

And I'm not saying what they're doing is right. But clearly doing nothing isn't an option, and I've yet to see an alternative suggested.
Should they just stop and leave hamas to continue?
How can they fully clear the area of civilians when Egypt won't allow it?

greatsatsuma · 15/11/2023 10:08

"How can they fully clear the area of civilians when Egypt Israel won't allow it?"

Fixed it for you.
