No Parking it doesn’t make sense.
But in a way it makes perfect sense.
When Palestinians and the walking wounded were told to leave Al Shifa via an IDF determined route it was reported and verified by those on the route that males were being detained at the the checkpoints and taken away.

No idea if any were returned later

Soreally it is no surprise men fit and healthy are being removed,

IDK why he was arrested on the open road - and like you say other staff and patients have been questioned within the hospital

Perhaps they thought he might escape once out of the hospital [totally guessing]

Report attached from UNRWA chief attached.

Im not sure an awful lot of infrastructure can be repaired in such short pauses in bombings

Im also confused by conflicting reports
When the pause was agreed 300 trucks of aid were agreed….now it’s more than 150. Does that mean the number has reduced or it’s up for debate still.

Also when the pause was agreed it was for 6 hours but more recent news articles are saying only 504 hours….has that also been reduced …or is this misinformation.

Another UN school has been bombed, I fear the bombings will escalate tonight prior to the pause.

@Parkingt111

Or maybe he refused to offer himself up for questioning before.
Given how outspoken he has been I wouldn’t be surprised.

I've noticed the no of aid trucks vary in different articles/publications as do other figures - ?tiredness/typos

Readingallnight · 23/11/2023 22:51

A run down of what’s happened today
shocked and saddened by the number killed including 6000 children.
Im assuming many are still to be found as they lie under the rubble.

More graves dug in Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital

Al Jazeera

Parkingt111 · 23/11/2023 23:05

Its horrible
mass graves being dug in many places
no time to even mourn as constant bombardment

Readingallnight · 24/11/2023 01:18

Or even families to know where their loved ones are buried.

The indonesian hospital was raided just before the ceasefire
A few people arrested with lots of damage done to the hospital
It seems that this is now the new normal

Parkingt111 · 24/11/2023 07:02

The indonesian government have been quite vocal about how angry they are at this

Last night, Israeli forces attacked the hospital with tanks and destroyed all of the first floor. The damage was very bad.

Previously, they had attacked the third floor. They arrested at least three people. This is their way of taking over the hospitals before the ceasefire today.

Efacsen · 24/11/2023 07:31

The director at the Indonesian hospital said yesterday that people were afraid to leave [if they could] in case they were arrested by the IDF like at al-Shifa

It's all another horrible mess - with lots of sick patients [500] staff [200] and unknown number of displaced people

Efacsen · 24/11/2023 08:00

Just a small mention about the Plastic surgeon at al-Shifa who tweeted their distress yesterday - he has a brother and sister in London who have been campaigning on his behalf and have appeared on Sky with Kate Burley in the past so hopefully the on-going awfulness there will reach a wider audience [whilst everyone's attention is understandably turned to the hostages and humanitarian ceasefire]

And for anyone who's interested he's Irish-Palestinian and trained at Guys & St Thomas'

Parkingt111 · 24/11/2023 08:13

@Efacsen thank you for that
Has the director been released? After everything he has gone through and the IDF have said he is not being indicted, I really hope so

Efacsen · 24/11/2023 08:18

@Parkingt111 can't see anything about him being released

Parkingt111 · 24/11/2023 12:06

WHO have said they are extremely concerned about the 100 or so remaining patients and health workers at Al-Shifa

I think it's been a few days since they were last able to get in contact with anyone there and they have no idea how they are
I don't understand why they couldn't have asked Israel for an update on this concern as they had taken over Al Shifa hospital

If anyone sees any updates on the people remaining there please do share

I read a few academic analysis of ceasefires and all said before ceasefires there is always an escalation in attacks.
There has been an escalation over the last few days and so this is no surprise really.
Given aid has been allowed to go in which could have supported the return to medical care at the hospital the trashing of medical equipment will potentially prevent that irrespective of aid.

Agree The focus has been at Al-shifa and the Israeli Govn looking for justification to bomb it and then International focus shifted to the release of hostages and all the while the bombings and shootings in Gaza and the West Bank have continued.
Whilst negotiations for the hostage release has been ongoing the IDF have continued to detain more people aswell, so more Palestinians taken every day.

Hopefully the Red Cross or others will be able to check on their condition in the coming days during the pause.

Only 137 aid trucks out of 200 passed by Israeli security made it into Gaza today - ?due to logistical problems/Rafah crossing isn't designed for this volume of traffic

Aid agencies had anticipated these problems and had asked Israel to open the Kerem Shalom crossing as well - this was obviously declined

Very disappointing

queenofarles · 24/11/2023 20:41

I don’t think many have read this but Israeli Army has completely withdrawn form Al Shifa hospital.

I have a vague recollection that hundreds more used to go into Gaza every day !
Or is that through several entry points.

This was part of the deal.
Each side needs to abide by that.
