Israel had responsibility before, but Hamas’s attack on 7th October 2023 changer that permanently. Gaza will have to make their own arrangements post-demilitarisation

I’m not sure thats how it works.

Your last comment shows you don't understand how terrorist groups work and how to beat them. I've explained across several threads the counter-terrorist perspective so I'm not about to do so again.

I’m not sure what my take away from this comment is meant to be? That you’re right because of reasons?

We will see it will be considered not sustainable for Israel to continue to have responsibility for Gazans by Palestinians & Israelis. Neither can trust the other.

Palestinian Authority's Abbas has been courted by major powers, including US and UK.

Arab States will play a key role, especially Qatar (political base for Hamas and home to a huge USAF base) and Saudi Arabia whose Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman is majorly frustrated with Palestinian leaders.

I expect between them all to come up with a way for Gazans to take more responsibility for themselves and Israel to have very little. Eventually.

There will be no return to previous years or 1967 era when Israel had direct administration responsibilities.

Everything changed on 7th October 2023.

Read a few political and security analysts views. 👍

Check out my thread in the Conflict of the Middle East section. Might add to it with other expert views.

A new political reality is what has and will happen there. Arab States close by have to be more involved, especially Saudi Arabia.

@DownNative are you from Israel? If you are wanted to ask a genuine question from an Israeli view point

Does that mean no?

Oh whatever - a link to the thread at least? Or am I expected to trot off and go through the threads until I find one you started?

"An academic's analysis", I think.

You stated that the UN would prefer the PA to self-govern Gaza but I think that has always been their view. Obviously this won’t happen while Hamas are in charge.

Couldn’t see anything to indicate the UN no longer consider Israel to be occupying Gaza.

That's one.

One suggestion floated even at this early stage by the US is a PA government backed by the UN.

A long way to go, but we're seeing a mew political reality in real time. Neither side will accept Israeli responsibility for Gaza in future.

Parker231 · 21/10/2023 12:11

Israel has allowed 20 lorries of aid into Gaza. They need, as a minimum 500 a day. Withholding basics of food, water and medical supplies to the Palestinian people can only be classed as a war crime. I hope the world will collectively stand together to bring action and accountability against the perpetrators in the Israeli government.

Gruntsandgroans · 21/10/2023 10:36

A few parts for water desalination 😂 That's all you need you know to provide water for 2.2million people. Just 'a few parts'. Come on. Even you don't believe what you are saying.

Sure, maybe not everyone.
But would have been nice for something to have been done instead of importing RPGs. That's the point. Hamas knows they are reliant on evil israel for water but attacks israel nonetheless without having done anything to secure any alternative sources.
Perhaps they could ask Egypt to supply water as before 1967.
Personally I think israle should supply water until they can make alternative arrangements with Egypt for humanitarian reasons.

First, even while those 20 lorries were entering, Hamas fired missiles on tel aviv! Wtf??? Clearly trying to provoke an israeli response so they can then blame israel for attacking an aid convoy.

Second, mechanisms need to be in place to ensure none of this aid will get into the hands of hamas and that it is purely humanitarian aid. That's not easy because hamas controls everything. They've got very rich off the back of International aid.

ketchup07070 · 21/10/2023 13:34

Does neither Gaza or West Bank have any water sources? They could supply each other, releasing Israel from responsibility.

Whilst Israel is also continuing to fire into Gaza at a much bigger scale

Israel don't allow it.
Edited to add Israel also control a lot of the water in the West Bank, they even control people there collecting rainwater. It is a very deliberate move by them to keep Palestinians reliant on them.

ketchup07070 · 21/10/2023 13:38

@Gruntsandgroans How strange. It would relieve Israel of this burden, and allow both areas to be more self sufficient. Surely they should be able to use their own resources to help create a viable Palestinian state in the future, which I thought the international community supported.

ketchup07070 · 21/10/2023 13:39

@Gruntsandgroans Rain water? That's crazy.

DISGUSTING

https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-settlers-alleged-to-bind-strip-beat-burn-and-pee-on-palestinians-in-w-bank/

Why do you think I wouldn't agree that its disgusting???
I saw that and thought it was terrible too!!

No excuse and totally outrageous.

I am very scared about what's happening in the west bank. Things were bad before but since this crazy government came into power with fascist right wing racist elements, its got even worse.

In fact, not only is it awful what those settlers and soldiers did on its own but they're traitors to israel because this kind of stuff could cause the west bank to explode.
