Zippys - good news on the ovulating but sorry to hear that they still aren't entirely sure exactly what is going on. I do hope that it does make you feel more relaxed - I think that is so important

Halo - understand your point about budget and my intention certainly wasn't to upset anyone (there are plenty of threads on this website capable of doing that). It's always going to be a difficult job for any government and unfortunately situation we are in means that they have to make decisions that will affect some people very negatively to avoid a Greece type situation happening here. Sorry to hear about you DP - fingers crossed that it doesn't affect him or you in your job. Where I work we've been going through 2 years of redundancies which has been miserable. I'm hoping it means that retailers do very well for the rest of the year as people try and buy things before the VAT increase comes into effect.

My gripe for the day is about tights - I had to buy a new pair from Boots on the way into work. They cost me £5 and they laddered as soon as I put them on! I waste more money on tights than anything else !

What a nerve wracking game earlier - I'm glad that England came through in the end! Think tonight calls for a few glasses of wine to celebrate - anyone care to join me?

xxx

Bellaby · 23/06/2010 19:29

oh and one of my clients who came back from maternity leave at the start of last week told me that she is leaving again for maternity leave at the end of June. Her second will be 15 months apart from the first!

Aries - poor you. Sounds like MrA needs a good reminder about the amazing lady he already has in his life!

haloflo · 23/06/2010 19:46

zippys glad to hear you are ovulating. Interesting about the SWI. I'm sure there was a lot to take in at that meeting so I'm glad to hear you are doing ok.

bellaby you definatly didn't offend me! I never thought about the vat rise being good in the short term That is outrageous about the £5 rubbish tights! Are you the complaining type?

Bellaby · 23/06/2010 19:59

halo - I sometimes am the complaining type (usually if it doesn't involve too much effort). Might try and take them back tomorrow on my way to work although today I had to wear them so they have splodges of nail polish on them where I tried to stop the ladders running any further.

Knew I shouldn't have strayed from good old M&S!

MrsWajs · 23/06/2010 22:51

Well I think to be fair 1st day back wasn't too painful! Just 8 days to go until I'm off again.

Will come back tomorrow for a proper catch up - just checking in. But now slighty concerned about my over-exuberant SWI attempts this month - maybe there is just waaaaay too much cortisol pumping around my body!

felicityFlick · 23/06/2010 23:43

Morning all,

Can't stay long as I am off to the airport in an hour but just wanted to quickly check in before I leave. I'm not sure when I will be able to get online, maybe Saturday, so when I can I will pop in and see what good news awaits me last time I went on holiday I think it was lucky who got her BFP so I expect some whilst I am away.

zippys glad you're ovulating!

flo glad we won the footy! It must be all down to me of course ;) Enjoy your week off and happy SWI'ing in Leeds. The apartment sounds very swish!

Sorry about your tights bella!!! Rubbish!!!

Glad work was ok mrsw

Stupid men aries

Right, got to go now so big hugs to all and I'll be back when I can- will miss you all xxxx

bunnygirl80 · 24/06/2010 06:08

Just popped in for a little catch up.

muser congratulations. I really hope this one has got itself in the right place and decides to stick around Come and join the grads when you're ready.

zippys glad to hear you're ovulating. Good luck with the reat of your tests.

I have my 19 week scan tomorrow. It's quite scary to think I'm nearly halfway there- it only seems like 5 minutes since I was symptom spotting like a crazy loon

CaveMum · 24/06/2010 07:28

Morning all, just checking in.

Nothing to report in my world - no decisions and no ERTD!

felicity very jealous that you've finished work for the summer! Have a lovely trip.

bunny I think you got your BFP just as I was joining this thread. Can't believe you're almost halfway there already!

Aries hope Mr A bucks his ideas up soon. Perhaps pop on your best undies and a pair of sexy heels and strut around the house - that should get his attention!

[waves] to every one else!

Bellaby · 24/06/2010 07:36

Hope you have a fantastic trip Felicity xxx

LankyLegs · 24/06/2010 09:20

Morning all,

You probably wont get this Flick as you are in the air or landed already- but just wanted to say have a great trip!

How is everyone today? I hope some of you get to enjoy that sunshine and not be cooped up in office like moi all day. Ugh!

Zippys sounds like things are moving on and its great that all those tests are getting lined up for you. Who knows what will come of them - and in the process of it all you might just get pregnant naturally - this seems to happen a lot from what I have read. I am going in to have a Chlamydia test done too! Even though its a bit odd I think its best to make sure as it can go undetected in women for years ( the crazy nurse who took my bloods convinced me to have it) .... On a good note - isn't it great that you are ovulating?!

Halo ha - your post made me giggle as Mr Lanky has been out last two nights on the trot! He has his SA on Friday morning which is CD10 so like you that will be he earliest opportunity for SWI! I ovulated on CD16 last month so have a few days yet. Are you going for it every day? I did that last month but am starting to think every other day might be better. I don't know! Thanks for asking about the thyroid thing - funnily enough ever since I have found out I have felt profoundly miserable and down in the dumps - I keep crying at every spare opportunity I have - have never ever felt like this before and DH is getting worried. I really can't attribute it to anything either - feels really very strange. Anyway - just trying to get this work week out the way and then will try and figure out what is going on! How are you otherwise? Feeling ok?

Aries what is up with MrA? You need to get him appreciating you lady! Naked Austrailians - bah! Anyway - what day do you ovulate? There may still be time and hope for this month yet?

Soar CD28.... are you metalling it up with symptom spotting?!

Penguin sorry about the CD day - i think thats the first and last time I attempt the list!

No news from me - just waiting for shagathon and misbehaving in the meantime with wine and gin

phew!

well, thank goodness about the football!
I got home just AFTER the crucial goal of course.

It's interesting what people are saying about shagging-frequency!
The NHS recommend that if you are TTC you have sex 2-3 times a week throughout your whole cycle. The only reason for that recommendation is to reduce stress about the whole thing and encourage people to not worry about their cycle days or timing and just have some sex.
HOWEVER, many experts say that for the very best chance you need to have sex as much as possible during your most fertile days. The more shagging at the right time the better!
but only if that's not stressing you out too much!

superpenguin · 24/06/2010 10:53

Bellaby that's a pain about the tights. But why do you need tights when we are in the middle of summer!

Aries sorry to hear about MrA's seeming rubbishness. Men have no idea sometimes about anything. (mine too). Have you tried jumping him on the sofa so he can watch naked australians at the same time? haha

Zippys hope all the tests and whatnot will give you the answers and will help you know what to do next...

Saoralba I know there is a ? by your ucl but do you know roughly when you ovulated? good luck for weekend stick-peeing...

My plan was to test on Sunday or Monday if no ERTD appears.
But I am v tempted to test tomorrow as have 4 internet cheapies in stock (they came in pack of 5 and used one last month!) and they are supposed to be early response ones.
And then if negative I can drink at the weekend... although I know if neg it might still be pos later but a neg is still a temporary wine-licence, yes?

AND today I have weird stomach feelings (ok I have had stomach / digestion issues for years so not unusual for me), and have been very tired the last several days (ok I have had lots of late nights and early mornings and not enough sleep),
AND my boobs felt very tender last night, although they feel ok today (could be early sign of ERTD or just random!)

Enough of the symptom-spotting! (talking to myself). It would be way too ridiculous to get pregnant the first month of trying wouldn't it? esp considering I am the wrong side of 30 (just) and was on the depo injections for 9 years! (been off them for a year before trying though and had normal periods the last 6 months).

sorry for the long rambling post! Someone slap me back into reality please!

seablue · 24/06/2010 15:07

Hello! Just popping by to see how everyone is. Congratulations to the new grads! Come and see us on the grads thread! salty has already popped over.

Love the new title and very pleased to see you have banished the dreaded AF.

I feel wrong updating the list, but when you do, could you add my BFP date as 1 May? Thank you!

Waiting nervously for scan next Thursday (will be 13 weeks). Have been spotting a bit so hoping there is still something alive in there. Good to know you're all here if I end up empty-handed and TTC!

Good luck to all of you and keep up the good SWI-ing. FWI, I definitely think every day is too much of a good thing, even in the magic week. Nearly drove us round the bend - much better when we tried to do just 3 times that week.

And zippys - that tube test you might have is the HSG, which is, I'm sure, what got me pregnant after all that endless time of trying. Blows the cobwebs away!

xxx

WhiteRoses · 24/06/2010 16:19

Hi,

Just a quick post to say glad things are looking good for you Zippys. Funny what you say about the temping and the SWIing too often. We did it either every day or every second day, at the very least, to start with. In December, we took a break and just didn't use contraception when we did have sex. That month, we were so knackered that we only had sex twice and hey presto! The first of those two times was when I conceived. So there may well be something in what she says!

womanlytales · 24/06/2010 17:31

Hello ladies,
It is a most interesting conversation on SWI going on... Lord knows I am totally stressed all the time - LOL
Mrswajs 4 cycles is how many I've had since joining Mumsnet. Prior in Jan this year I went through a procedure called Ovarian drilling -- Previous to that we'd been trying for about a year..and in December the tests showed that I was not ovulating (PCO)and the scan to check my tubes also were inconclusive...hence the laproscopic procedure. Good news is that tubes are fine, so is the uterus so its primarily the PCO that needs checking out. Fingers crossed that we do manage to conceive.

Bellaby · 24/06/2010 17:35

superpenguin unfortunately me pre-waxed legs need covering!
Those symptoms sound very intrieging indeed!!!

haloflo · 24/06/2010 19:01

flick I'm you get chance to lurk in an wi-fi spot then have a great trip! If you don't read this until you are back then I hope you had a great time!

cavemum No ERTD? Is that time for you again? Your cycles must still be quite short? Are they making any sense yet? I hope it's not too hard to come on MN with your plans being thrown up in the air.

lanky I cheated I'm afraid and ended up seducing a slightly worse for the wear DP last night so seem to have got going rather early. The only 2 cycles I have any idea when I ov'ed are the last 2 and it was CD12 and CD16/17 so I'm not sure when to expect it. I'll just be using cheapie sticks this month as they matched up last month with temping.

I probably won't go for everyday - I've never managed that but maybe every other then 2 days in a row. Like CD10, 12, 14, 15, 17? Something like that anyway. We will make an conscious effort but not beat ourselves up if we miss a day.

Sorry to hear you are feeling down. Could it be the medication? I hope not anyway. Maybe just a bit of a shock that's hard to adjust to. I hope you get time to gather yourself over the weekend. Its rubbish going back to work after a holiday - you end up double busy and lose the relaxed holiday feeling all too quick.

I'm feeling good thanks for asking although I always am whilst waiting to ovulate.

superpenguin You went for the SWI'athon this month right? If it doesn't work (which it will) then maybe try less often? There surely isn't a hard and fast rule about it just mixing it up and seeing what works for you. However your symptoms sound interesting. Having been off the injection for a year you have given your body a good time to get back to normal I think you are in with a really good chance! Fingers crossed.

I reckon you should try and hang on to test as you probably will get a false BFN and then you still won't know where you are. Let us know if you cave in though.

bellaby You made me laugh with your comment about M&S. Get yourself there this weekend and stock up with emergency pairs. Either that or get your legs waxed!

A big wave to the grads bunny , seablue and roses - good to hear from you.

bunny are you finding out the sex? Please please come back and tell us if you do.

Tonight I will mostly be ironing, washing and cleaning the flat whilst DP is away for the night. He is watching a band in Manchester and I'm very jealous (couldn't get time off work, plus it sold out) so need to distract myself. Plus it means more SWI time over the weekend if I do it all now.

CaveMum · 24/06/2010 22:17

haloflo hope the ironing is going well!

I don't have a clue what is going on with my cycles! First one was very short - 20 days - and I think I'm still in cycle 2 - 32 days (I think) and counting! I thought ERTD had arrived 2 weeks ago but I had a tiny amount of blood and it only lasted one evening! So I'm assuming it wasn't ERTD after all! My temps have been all over the shop with no definite signs of ovulation - I've had temp dips but no consistent rises. I really don't know what to think.

Plans are fairly static at the mo, until we know for sure whether or not DH is going I don't really know what to do. If he is going I think we'll put TTC off until November, that way if I do fall straight away DH should be home in time for the birth in August! I know it's not as simple as that, but I can but hope!

On the house front I've convinced DH that we should get some estate agents in to value our house in the next few weeks. I've also made an appointment to view a house we like the look of at the weekend.

Progress is progress, right?!

Hermya321 · 24/06/2010 22:51

Just popping in and can't believe I missed Muser having a BFP!! Congratulations!! I hope you're feeling well!!

Flick Have a good holiday!!

CaveMum Oooooo house viewing, is it a nice house?

Super I think I've said Hi to you in the past, but anyway I hope this is a lucky month for you!!

I hope you're all well!!!

No real news from me tbh. I'm nearly twenty three weeks and can't quite believe I am this far along already. I still don't have a major bump so I think this is why I still feel a bit bewildered, this is despite the fact that my spare room now has a cot and pram in it.

bunnygirl80 · 25/06/2010 07:53

Hello all

Scan went well today - baby is growing well and everything is properly formed and in the right place. It's a boy, which surprised me as I hoped thought it would be a girl. I suppose it just goes to show how little I know about what's going on in there

zippys · 25/06/2010 08:48

Morning lovely ladies,

Bunny so pleased the scan went well, after all the bad news at the moment its lovely to hear good news. I cant believe how far along you and Hermya are. It only seems like 2 minutes since you got your BFP. I have to admit, I would love a little girl, but at the moment would be happy with anything

hermya ooh cot and pram how exciting, it must all be seeming so real now.

Cavemum yes that is progress, let us know how you get on with the viewings. I know a lot of people when the come off the pill can have a normal ERTD first and then a long cycle so hopefully ERTD should appear soon.

Halo hope last night wasnt too boring, sounds like you have a fun weekend planned

Carrying on from the comments regarding SWI and frequency, my thoughts are so - it makes sense that if you can pinpoint ovulation and SWI around then then obviously it must increase chances of conception but as soon as it stops been fun and starts taking over your sex life then I think you need to reconsider. I think this is where I am right now. I am trying to be more relaxed, yes I will still know the rough time of ovulation and will still make sure that there isnt a SWI drought around this time but will try not to obsess (yes you can all repeat this to me when I am worried we havent SWI enough when 2ww comes!!)

oh pants I have run out of time to say hi to everyone, must dash as have client due in in 10 mins, hope everyone has a lovely weekend and enjoys the sunshine.

Oh and Aries I hope you are feeling better and MrA has done some serious apologising and making up. Men can be so insensitive at times.

bunnygirl80 · 25/06/2010 09:36

zippys it really does feel like it's only 2 minutes since my BFP, time is really flying by. It feels like only yesterday that I was temping and checking for EWCM - I still have all my graphs stashed in a drawer along with my BFP. Maybe I'll produce them all at this baby's 18 birthday party

I have to admit that I was slightly disappointed that I'm not having a girl, but it only lasted for a couple of minutes as I know I'm incredibly lucky to be having a healthy baby, whatever colour we need to paint the nursery. In fact, one of the walls in the room we'll be using is blue already, so there's now no need to decorate at all

superpenguin · 25/06/2010 09:38

Just a short note to sheepishly admit that I caved.
and BFN!
I mean I'm only on CD26 for goodness sake.
Thought the tests I had at home were ultra early ones but turns out they are normal ones.
At least they were only 50p each!

But I have cramps and feel sick.
and I must be going crazy because I actually dreamed about testing postive. who dreams about POAS?!

Also I can't count, as ERTD is not actually due until Tuesday-ish - if I am having a 29d cycle that is. 29 is average for me but range from 27 to 32. Which means ERTD ciould actually come any time from Sunday until next Friday!

And I've no idea when I ovulated but judging from CM think it could have been any day from cd 14 to cd 18. so it might be a long cycle.
Who knows?

Anyway I will still hold off the wine this weekend I think and test again in a few days.

AND a friend of mine is due to give birth any day now (due tomorrow!) so babies on the brain!

My plan this month had been to SWI every day from cd8 to cd20 thus not needing to pin down exact ov day but covering all bases in the possible range. We didn't quite manage that - missed days 13, 16 and 19 - but did pretty well.
Assuming no success this time intend to repeat that broad plan next month!

sorry for mememe post. I hope you are all well and having a nice Friday in the sun!

SaorAlba · 25/06/2010 10:11

Super I caved and tested too. I think if the tests were more expensive then I wouldn't have. BFN this morning, CD29. Absolutely not the faintest idea how long my cycles should be as I was on hormonal contraception for so long, but I think I may have oved around CD19 or 20, so there could still be hope yet. Plan to POAS again on Sunday if no ERTD.

Oh, I also dreamed about POASing. I dreamed that someone came into my house and asked if they could borrow a pregnancy test .

Hallo Grads, it's always nice to see you back and giving us updates on progress

Lanky I was wondering the same as flo about medication. Maybe the Thyroxine (or whatever they've given you) is making you a bit more emotional than usual? It might be worth having a chat to your GP about it anyway in case it's a common symptom and they can just put you on something else instead?

DP's car broke down last night. We're supposed to be taking it to France this time next week so it's all a bit of a nightmare. DP also found out yesterday that in addition to his varicoceles he also has an epididymal cyst. Poor guy just didn't know what to do with himself last night. Too much stress in one go.

Hope all of you have a good day and a nice weekend. I will be mainly trying to cheer DP up and trying not to think about POASing - think I'll try again on Sun morning if no ERTD by then.
