Just checking to see how you all are? Not particularly chatty right now, but missed you lot.

Got my vaginal examination tomorrow (yay ), though hopefully the anti-biotics I'm on will be doing their job and I'll be fine.

And I'm on some evil painkiller that totally wipes out the pain (Pethidine - which is apprently used for childbirth) but makes me feel very drunk, and occasionally nauseous. So not much fun. And shagging has been advised against.

alien06 · 20/07/2010 18:42

hey everyone, how are u all doing? Thank goodness that it is the end of school year tomoz!! Ive logged on to see how everyone is but also to ask a question, I am on CD11 so when am I supposed to be "most fertile" etc. all new to all this malarkey lol

Thanks

CaveMum · 20/07/2010 18:58

alien, it all depends on when you ovulate!

The theory goes that sperm can live for up to 6 days inside you, but the egg will only live for 12-24 hours.

Are you using a fertility monitor (references to CBFM can be seen on here) or are you taking your temperatures at all? These are the easiest ways to find out when you are ovulating.

If not, don't panic. Most women with a 28 day cycle will ovulate around day 14. Personally, judging by my temperature chart, I appear to ovulate around day 8 but I have odd cycles (18-36 days so far!) at the moment having only come off the pill in May.

It may be worth you investing in a good Basal Body Thermometer this is the one I have (first one on the page).

The theory behind taking your temperature is that your temp will dip just before ovulation and rise just after and then stay high (above you base line) until your period arrives.

It can tell you that you are about to ovulate but it can tell you that you have ovulated, IYSWIM. You can then look at your temperature charts over a period of a few months and see the pattern.

Fertiliy Friend is a great website for monitoring your charts, etc here

alien06 · 20/07/2010 21:23

Hey thanks for the info CaveMum

Well I was advised by nurse when having Mirena removed to not get into all the temperature and monitoring stuff and was advised to just go with the flow. It's hard though isn't it?! I am finding it hard to not be concentrating on TTC, even though it would be nice to be able to have few cocktails on the holiday in just over a week , on the other hand I want to know why I can't get pregnant straight away. All my friends are pregnant through accidents or one month of trying etc and it's quite depressing, especially as no one knows we are trying apart from us two. When asked when we are having kids we just say when we have saved up lol as it saves from people knowing its taking time. I feel like this after only trying for a month, god I am going to be useless if it takes years

highheelsandequations · 20/07/2010 21:41

alien I was told when first started trying to relax, not completely change my lifestyle and SWI every other day from end of period until CD21 or later. However I'd have difficulty charting etc as I have PCOS and before the drugs very weird and irregular cycles. And you must have cocktails on holiday! Good luck

Ariesgirl · 20/07/2010 22:05

How the hell does anyone find the energy and the will to SWI every other day for 17 days? I mean, without wishing to reveal too much about my sex life, does anyone actually do that? Come on, own up! We've managed it twice this month due to work pressures, stress and exhaustion.

highheelsandequations · 20/07/2010 22:13

I have to admit that we're not managing as often as the medical profession have recommended

Could possibly have managed 10 years ago...

Florin · 20/07/2010 23:30

Without going into to much detail we find that trying to vary time of day helps. Trying to get on with it once u go to bed is never going to work as you are knacked so we tend to jump into bed when we get home from work. Sun afternoon, or in the mornings. Also sometimes text each other when we are bored mid afternoon at work to get us in the mood!
Still no ETRD going to test fri if it hasn't turned up by then. Glad to see we have more people joining the list was looking a little short. Could do with more graduates too!

CaveMum · 21/07/2010 06:58

Greetings to waterloo, can you tell us which cycle you are on (how long have you been trying so far), your usual cycle length and your current cycle day so that we can add you to the stats list.

alien, no probs, charting isn't for everyone. I'm a geek so like to see charts and things!

Aries I doubt that anyone can manage SWI for that long. In my experience those who claim in be swinging from the chandeliers every night are big fat liars!

Personally speaking DH and I live apart during the week due to his job in the RAF and the fact is that sometimes we are just too tired to get down to it at the weekend! It is something that concerns me for when we get down to TTC but we'll just have to make the effort to meet up during the week!

Glad I'm not the only one not managing SWI every second bloody day!! Although have managed the last 4 days - this is me not trying to stress to much about ov!! Feels a little bit weird not charting and temping etc this month though I have to say!

DP and I spotted our ideal house yesterday while out walking the dog - tragically we don't have the £20k spare we would need for a deposit Gutted!!! It is soooo beautiful!

Florin Good luck for testing on Friday, I have my fingers tightly crossed for you.

Halo Are you planning on testing soon?? Also got my fingers crossed for you

fudgecat · 21/07/2010 11:27

Hi everyone

I just thought i'd pop over from the grads to say hello and see how you are all doing.

kaloki so sorry to see that you have had to move yourself to the not counting days list fingers crossed everything is ok for you.

Hope to see some of you over on the grads before too long.

CaveMum · 21/07/2010 13:25

fudge how lovely to hear from you! I've been checking in on the grads thread to see how you and Splodge are doing [stalker emotcion]. So glad that the little fighter is hanging in there.

We've definitely had a shortage of BFPs lately, but fingers crossed we'll have a rush of them in the next few weeks.

LankyLegs · 21/07/2010 13:45

Alrite peeps,

How's is hanging? Why so quiet in here?! Helloo to newbies - lovely bunch here - and we do like to chat! No really we do.....

Aries hope your lil nephew is doing ok - poor little thing. The worrying never ends does it?

I am not sure who can shag that much...like really?! The only time where we do do it 3/4times in a row is around OV - otherwise its every few days depending of mood, stress etc. At the moment I have not managed it once this cycle - but then MrL has really f*cking pissed me off so he aint getting none until I say so!

Florin bless you - you are being so very good and not mental at all about the testing thing, It all sounds very promising though. Would love for one of the old (I don't mean literally old!) frolickers to get a BFP next - boy its time we had one soon.

Flick just wanted to say bloody congratulations on finally TTC! So exciting for you and I hope you enjoy the CBFM! If one can enjoy such a thing?! Errr - you know what I mean - you be careful with your piss pots young lady. Did you come across an adequate storage solution whilst travelling?

Cave you little tinker - how are things going? You are such a sweetie with all your advice.

Kaloki hope that the pain is subsiding - and pleased you are getting tests etc done. Do pop in and keep us posted - we worry don't you know

MrsWajs how is it going not temping etc?! Good on you for getting loads of shagging in nonetheless!

Evil well done for getting that appointment - even if ERTD does arrive its good that you are getting the ball rolling for some explanations of long cycles!

Halo hi to you if you are lurking. I can understand why you might be a bit quiet - do hope you have some good news.

Hello to lovely grads that pop in say hello! I do catch up on your thread and its nice to hear about how your pregnancies are going! Fudge - also have been keeping track of splodge on the thread and just wanted to say that I'm glad little splodge is fighting away still.

Hola to everyone else! Esp those of you luck things sunning yourself somewhere exotic. That reminds me Bella have you left for your trip yet?

I had a mad busy weekend and still recovering. Also had MASSIVE row with MrL as he royally f*cked up - not going into details but he has been given the cold shoulder for days now. Grr. Stupid men. Anyway - am thinking of laying off the TTC this month - kind of sick to death of it and am thinking that August might be last blow out month of boozing and going out for a while - I think I just need to get some of this baby aint happening thing out of the system a bit - so a month off might not be a bad thing plus socially there is so much going on (mind you saying that I will still shag etc but wont be going mental as I normally do and only shag when I want to as opposed to around sodding ovulation). In fact I wish no one told me about ovulation and trying plan ones sex life around it - it's rather annoying information that is hard to dislodge from ones brain once youknow about it.

Anyway - am thinking the next cycle I might try and focus a bit more on detoxing and having a bit of 'me' month - maybe book some treatments in and drink disgusting detox juices that will hopefully make feel better after getting the runs and 20 spots on my face - that's how these detox things work normally huh?!

Sorry - big me me post there. Feel much better now - thank you girls!

Florin · 21/07/2010 15:34

ETRD has turned up feeling extremely fed up and just generally pissed off with my body. It's not fair I want a baby [stomps feet]
Got my bloody parents coming for a BBQ tonight to which I really don't want to do Jusr want to curl up and feel sorry for myself. Dh tries to understand but really doesn't understand quite how upset it makes me. Anyway sorry to moan but u girls are the only ones who seem to understand how I feel. At least I can have a bucket load of wine tonight and drown my sorrows.
Sorry about the all about me message, I'm at work so catch up with everyone tonight

LankyLegs · 21/07/2010 16:00

Oh Florin I feel you baby stomping pain. Was there 8 bloody days ago too. I think you should swear, shout and scream a lot and then drink that bucket of wine. You're not alone chica. Don't you worry we will get our baby one day! In the meantime stick your fingers up to all the pregnant folk and have a glass of bubbles or two.... as they bloody can't (of course I know we would rather have a baby but hell you have to do what you have to do get through that huge disappointment every month)

stegasaurus · 21/07/2010 16:50

Good to see that we are not the only couple who don't manage SWI every day. That makes me feel better, as my DH did suggest that the reason we had failed TTC for so long was that we didn't have enough sex. I work shifts (days, evenings, nights and weekends) in a physically and emotionally demanding job and frequently fall asleep as soon as I get into bed which is often 4-5hrs before he goes to bed. We rarely have weekend lie-ins together like other couples as I am at work. I did wonder how everyone else managed it though.

CaveMum · 21/07/2010 17:06

Florin so sorry to hear that

Tuck into plenty of wine and chocolate over the next few days wont' you.

(((hugs)))

gardenpixie · 21/07/2010 17:26

Ladies, can I join your chat?

I've been TTC for 2 years and it's horrid not having other people to talk to about it (DH doesn't really get it and all my friends are seemingly having litters of babies left right and centre).

Florin, so sorry to hear you are feeling down. I think wine and chocolate are definitely in order!

Kaloki · 21/07/2010 17:58

lankylegs You are so right about not being able to forget about ovulation once you've been told!

florin So sorry to hear ERTD got you!

gardenpixie Welcome to the madhouse! Everyone is lovely here

I just got back from the GP my lovely ladies, and it turns out I have an inflamed cervix and womb, so have had swabs sent off. GP thinks it is quite likely linked to when I had the coil put in/removed. So I'm on antibiotics for a while yet, and should hopefully hear the results soon.

MrsWajs · 21/07/2010 19:01

Ohh Florin so sorry to hear that - I really thought this was going to be your month. Big hugs from me too.

And kaloki glad you have some answers now and hopefully the anti-bugs kick in and sort everything out soon

And hello to gardenpixie

Sorry can't stop as heading out the door but will catch up later.x

curiouselle · 21/07/2010 19:37

Hi all,

I am a newbie really but have been lurking so long I feel like I belong (so am pushing in really, hope that is ok).

I am only in my 2nd month of ttc after coming off the pill HOW do you NOT become obsessed. I think about it way too much even though we decided to be casual about it.

I have to say you guys are the 'fountain of knowledge' when it comes to this conception malarkey, I have learnt so much that I was clueless about before - Thank You all!

pixiestix · 21/07/2010 19:40

Hello,
Just popping over from Grads as there is no one there to play with! July has not been a great Frolicker month, has it?

Sorry ERTD got you Florin, everything sounded so promising. I echo the advice to get very very drunk, while you can. A bucket of wine sounds like heaven to me at the moment!

Ooh, another pixie! Hello!

Glad that the doctors gave you some answers Kaloki - you should feel so much better once the anti-biotics zap the infection.

Sending lots of love to Halo.

I am ok. 30+5 today which is great, but I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and anaemia which is not so great. So I feel like a bag of crap, and am constantly stressing about whether or not the baby is ok. Meh.
A grad secret for you - Do you know the knicker checking never goes away? I thought it was just a pre-ERTD thing, but no. Into the third trimester and still checking with every loo visit!

Kaloki · 21/07/2010 19:44

Aww that doesn't sound too much fun pixie, hope you are taking it easy! (As much as you can at least)

Bellaby · 21/07/2010 21:01

Hello Lovely Ladies!

Hope you are all well.

Sorry for radio silence from me over the past week. It's been super busy trying to get everything done before the holiday (including 3 or 4 heavy nights out with clients) but finally all sorted.

We are now at the airport - so excited.

Will try and pop in during the holiday

Hello to all the newbies - it's great to have you with us

Lots of love
