Morning lovelies

My its quiet isn't it? Lets makes some noise it's FERFERFERFERFRIDAY!

How is everyone? We need a BFP to shake the house up and give the rest of us some motivation I think! Who is testing soon? Halo really really really really keeping everything crossed for you!

Also - wanted to say sorry to all those that got ERTD - Tom and Kaloki it bloody sucks doesn't it? Grrrr. Tomboy I can totally understand - If I was having a really long cycle I think I would have been secretly harbouring a hope to. Hey - onwards and upwards and lets focus on the next round of shagging! Ding ding ding ding! Also - sorry to hear about relocation, its great that you have so much notice and really decide what you want to do.

kaloki i think anything past 6 months is quite disillusioning - esp when you think it will happen so quickly.

Cave how bloody cute was that? The sweetest thing I have read in ages. I love hanging out with kids - my little niece is 3 and come up with all sorts of endearing stuff - its all very charming.

Florin - Ok you are really tired, you are on CD29, you have tummy cramps.....hmmmm. Nuff said. Testing soon?! I totally agree with booking stuff in etc - infact its what makes this TTC business bearable as the months go on. Sounds like you have the right approach regarding your holipops next year - its always really hard to commit to those sorts of things. I am ummming and ahhhing about a trip to India next year - but not advisable if you are pregnant so may have to be a bit last minute.

MrsWajs - cute! I didn't think all you did was festivals! I am off to the 'Big Chill' in Herefordshire at the beg of August - and I cant wait! I agree - all my fiends take one look at me and think I can't hack camping but I love it. Did glasto last couple of years which was brilliant - but looking forward to a more chilled festival this year. Hope your run of night-shifts are coming to and end soon. You are a saint

Where is everyone else? Bella Aries Cherry Kkas. Hello to everyone else

I am very much looking forward to this weekend - off to the theatre this evening, a huge family shindig tomorrow (although watch me darting baby questions from 40+ extended family members) and then a boozy lunch on Sunday. The only reason I love ERTD is because ti gives me a legitimate guilt free reason to drink! And its been over a week since I had a glass of wine - watch out world!

Kaloki · 16/07/2010 11:08

Really sorry for yet another mememe post. I have now had cramps for 4 weeks continuously, and now I'm nauseous and feeling cold. Joy!

Karstan · 16/07/2010 11:21

Doesn't sound like much fun kaloki hope you feel better or at least find out the cause soon.

Just a quick question about dates. I know traditionally they work out dates as 40 weeks from last period. Now is this 38 weeks from conception assuming ovulation is 14 days from period? So if you know conception date exactly due to one time only shagging the due date could be slightly different? I know statistics about due date accuracy etc. Just curious after another thread where someone with same period date as me has already got a bfp.

womanlytales · 16/07/2010 13:06

Quick hello from Crete - On holiday and was not able to say bye before I left.
Weds was a DARK day - follicle monitoring pointed to me not having ovulated because Progesterone levels were consistently in the 15s.. VERY VERY SAD and feel BROKEN.
BUT AM ON HOLIDAY and loving it. I think it's time for me to give up on the fundamental - I will naturally have a child... need time to digest and get my head right -- Also know that this is not a MASSIVE problem...just feeling dissapointed with my body and me and it's also unearthing all sorts of other issues. Hope to heal well by the time I am back.
Sorry for those who have ERTD - Best of luck with your next cycle

MrsWajs · 16/07/2010 13:35

karstan 40 weeks is the length of pregnancy based on the date of your last menstrual period I believe.

But it depends on your cycle length, the person you speak about on the other thread may have started her period at the same time as you but also may have shorter cycles, therefore getting her BFP already, the length of your cycle is normally determined by the length of time between ERTD beginning and ovulation occurring. The luteal phase is usually about 14 days (although not for everyone) and stays the same each month.

Also some people can test early and get a BFP straight away and others not until sometimes they're about 5-6 weeks gone! Everyone different and there are no hard and fast rules. My advice to you would be not to test until you're late, tempting though it is! Hooe that helps a bit?

Florin · 16/07/2010 13:37

We all sound a little gloom and doom today! The waiting is so dull. I realised I might not get pregnant straight away however when I thought not straight away I thought at the most it would take is 3 months- little did I know! I know a lot of you girls have a lot more cycles under your belt than me so I really can't complain. Anytime anybody mention something happening next year I wonder if I will either be there with a lovely little baby or pregnant or will I be feeling miserable that by then I would have been trying for over a year. I spend a lot of my time daydreaming! Either that or counting dates-if I was pregnant this month when would it be due when would the 12 week scan be, when would the 20 week scan be. I know I am very sad with to much time on my hands! At least it's the weekend I am counting down the hours!

MrsWajs · 16/07/2010 13:38

Florin are you POAS'ing or waiting for non-arrival of ERTD??

Florin · 16/07/2010 13:44

Forgot to say I am not testing yet as I find a negative pregnancy test about the most depressing thing ever. Always reduces me to tears however I don't find ETRD turning up too bad so therefore going to hang on for as long as possible not got any tests in the house to make it easier for me not to give in. Got a big drinking session at some good friends next weekend so will probably test just before then if still no sign of ERTD.

luckyseven · 16/07/2010 14:17

karstan the due date thing is so hard to get your head round and i am completely obsessed by it as my official hospital due date is Christmas Eve!

In my experience the GP has a wheel that they use to work out edd based on a 28 day cycle. Another way the hospital do it is to take the day and month of your last period subtract three months and add 7 days. (march 17th minus 3 months is december add 7 days takes me to Christmas eve)

but i had short cycles (23days the month i got pg) and my temps and cbfm indicated i ovulated on cd9 so if you use an ovulation calendar based on ov day and knowing when you were swi-ing the the result can vary drastically. For me more like the 17th December and the baby at 10 week scan was measuring 15th December.

At my hospital they will take the baby's measurement at 20 weeks and that will dictate the official due date. But after all those calculations with a healthy pregnancy the baby will come when it is cooked and fir me uit might just not want to come in time for santa!

florin good luck with the waiting (fingers crossed)

luckyseven · 16/07/2010 14:19

apologies for the second last sentence - i wish you could edit a post post-post!

Karstan · 16/07/2010 15:07

The due date thing was more just idle curiosity, like you say these things happen when they're ready. Just wondered how much they took factors other than the date of last period into account . It doesn't really affect me as I seem to be bang on 28 days with ovulation smack bang in the middle, but even ovulation can vary in the same cycle length. Just curious as to how long people are actually pregnant for. It was only earlier this year I realised you can be 2 weeks pregnant before you've even conceived!

I'm not even slightly tempted to poas, don't like wasting money [scrooge emoticon] and I'm normally fairly rational, knowing earlier doesn't change the outcome

Kaloki · 16/07/2010 15:40

I'm off to the GP in a couple of hours, pains have got worse agin. I think I'm going to ask to go back on the pill for a whille, give my body a break from destroying itself. Will let you know later if I need to be taken off the list

CaveMum · 16/07/2010 16:59

kaloki sorry to hear that. I hope your GP can resolve things for you quickly.

You need to do whatever is best for you and your situation (((hugs)))

haloflo · 16/07/2010 17:07

kaloki I hope you are ok - am worried about you. I really hope that the GP helps you out.

womanly Sorry to hear about the progesterone levels - hopefully now they know what the issue is though they can help you? Sorry I know much about fertilty treatment but I hope theres an option for you. Glad you are enjoying your holiday though. Have a cocktail on me.

Cavemum Of course I don't mind you asking but I'm afraid i'm going to be very vague! I'm thinking maybe this time next week? I'm ready to be pg or even face a BFN but i'm not ready for the possibility that I could have an early mc again. I know we need a BPF but i'm not brave enough for it to possibly be me. I hope you don't think i'm crazy!

OneOf8 · 16/07/2010 17:40

Hi All! (stalker smiley!)

just popping in as been a little while since I last said hello to you lovely ladies!

Kaloki really hope you are ok, and they establish the cause

halo ooooh! will have to check in more regularly!

Karstan hello, never "spoken" before, but noticed the scrooge comment... if this is of any help, I have a few preg tests left over, so happy to donate? Halo can confirm I?m ok and not a real stalker! as forwarded on the ov. sticks I didn't use (long cycles boring story!) although I am hoping she has to forward them on also!

  • this offer is open if anyone else wanted, as noticed lovely new faces -

womanlytales hope you are having a lovely holiday, and hoping you are feeling much more positive by the time you read this x

Lanky enjoy the drinking! I was never a big drinker (after the incident of missing part of an exam through intoxication) but it is funny how you miss something you cant have/scared to have! OH was getting a bit bored of the extreme timed intervals the first couple of months, so with the longer cycles I didn't bother applying pressure and he went with the flow... now he regrets whingeing about having too much SWI as I cant stand the thought of it (although this would be SWoutI) - in my defence had a bleed and I cant seem to relax for fear of doing something bad

Tomboy boo about the job, but like previously stated, you have plenty of time to make arrangements, whether that be change role or look for a new company. Whichever you go for, I hope it works out for you

Evil noticed someone said positives about symptoms, although I cant see your post (may not have looked back far enough!) hope this was right and not something I mis-read... hope everything is moving forwards now

Hello to everyone else!! especially anyone else new that I have missed!

Nothing interesting from me, so going to scuttle off - just had to dip in to say hi!

CaveMum · 16/07/2010 17:42

haloflo of course that's not crazy! I completely understand where you are coming from.
Whilst hearing about BFPs on this thread is fantastic, no one should be feeling pressurised to test before they are ready.

We all jokingly shout "test, test, test" from time to time, but if it makes anyone feel uncomfortable they should say.

Whilst early detection pregnancy tests are a wonderful thing, I can't help but feel they get peoples hopes up a little too soon. Before PTs came along most women would not have noticed an early mc or a chemical pregnancy.

Does that make sense?

Karstan · 16/07/2010 18:00

OneOf8 - that's a very kind offer but I'll pass for now.

At the moment I have no symptoms or 'feelings' of any kind so I'm not desperate to test until period is late. I've got one test set aside for that (left over from a buy one get one free offer after a late period whilst not ttc-ing) and they were cheap as chips anyway.

I don't mind paying for a test when i need one, just don't want to get into the mindset of testing just in case iyswim and I think free tests might encourage that!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 16/07/2010 18:13

wooohoo, it's Friday!
Cracking open the vino, and getting on with some serious baby-making.
Wish me luckfor the next few days ladies

TomboyWife · 16/07/2010 20:01

Evening ladies!

kaloki sending good thoughts your way. I hope you're okay!

I've more or less given up trying to plan future events around being pregnant. At the rate we're going it feels like it'll never happen, so I'm trying my best to ignore the whole issue. Maybe we should tempt fate by buying expensive plane tickets to India. Then surely Sod's Law would kick in and I'd get pg just in time not to be able to go.

Karstan · 16/07/2010 20:09

TomboyWife I'm a big believer in Sod's Law, so thinking as little allowance I make in future plans for getting pregnant the better.

We never tend to make plans more than about 4 months in advance anyway so I think a pregnancy is something we could always work around. The only thing bothering me is if I get pregnant soonish, we'll be going on holiday with the inlaws before I'd want to tell them about any pregnancy.

alien06 · 16/07/2010 20:12

Evening everyone
Thank goodness its Friday!! Only three more working days until the Summer holidays wooooooooo

I know what some of you mean about thinking about future plans, I have just booked a skiing holiday for February! thought that its best to just plan as normal and deal with any changes if they come!

Ariesgirl · 16/07/2010 21:32

Kaloki are you alright?

OP posts:
Kaloki · 16/07/2010 21:58

Ok, update is. I have an infection of some sort and am on anti-biotics, got to have a vaginal examination next week and am not allowed sex until the infection has cleared up (GP does not expect the infection to be sexually transmitted - he just thinks that it's best to abstain for now). I've been advised not to take the pill as the GP thinks adding more chemicals to the mix is a bad idea.

Whoever does the list next could you put me in the not counting days camp?

zippys · 17/07/2010 10:30

Posting from subbed (sorry for those in crap weather) just wanted to let kaloki and womanly know I am thinking of you. Hope you feel a little better now you know what's gong on kaloki. X

zippys · 17/07/2010 10:31
