Now I understand what that "3" was at the end of the title for the last thread
In my defence I only discovered mumsnet a couple of months ago...

Sorry, egypt, can't answer that one but maybe somebody will be able to.
Can I make a plea that on this new thread people try not to use too many acronyms etc? (this isn't directed at anyone in particular, I just find it all quite confusing - or is that just me?).

Report
bayleaf · 08/07/2003 20:48

What sort of acronyms do you mean Hewlettsdaughter? If you give some examples I'm sure we can fill you in, do you mean specific ttc ones eg af for period or general internet ones - eg IMHO ( in my humble opinion)- I'm sorry if I've used any that have confused you, I think after a while people get so used to them that they forget how confusing they might be for new people.

ps
I'm sorry if I seem to ignore 'new' people on the ttc thread and only 'talk' to old ones - if I can answer a question I will always try to - but for general ttc 'chit chat' I'm just a bit weary of it all after 2 years. HOpe it doesn't seem too rude, I'm very aware that there have been many threads about 'old' mumsnetters ignoring new ones and I really don't mean to do that - I'm just fed up of ttc full stop and can only just summon up enough enthusiam to talk to people I ''know''!!!

Bayleaf, I thought of you today (no idea why!) and wondered how you are. Nice to see you back. Lots of luck to all of you on this thread.

Bayleaf, thanks for your posts. I do understand where you're coming from, if you've been ttc and posting here for a while. I haven't been trying long (in fact since Feb, and I've had 2 early miscarriages since then) so I don't know much about the realms of temperature-taking, ovulation sticks and all the other things that people talk about. I would like to echo your sentiment, though - may this be a lucky thread for all who post in her!

Thanks www - am bored tonight as dh is at the cricket so am prowling about the boards like the old days - in recent weeks I've hardly been on at all ( in comparison with old addiction levels!) - not really even sure why not - just one of those things.
Sadly hewlettsdaughter I am pretty much the oracle when it comes to ttc - you name it, I've done it! ( including miscarriages so I know just how crap they are - sorry you've had to experience them too)
If you're ever really bored I can recommend reading some of the old ttc threads ( particularly the first one I think) which had lots of links to sites which explain everything there is to know about ttc- should you want to know - including abbreviations! ( Ignorance could well be bliss...)

Thanks bayleaf, have skimmed the first thread, learned about mucus and bookmarked the Taking Charge of Your Fertility site. I think that's enough for one night

Hi Bayleaf - long time no speak! I've not been around much lately as work is still a nightmare (14 hour days plus a commute anyone?).

No good news to report on the ttc front either I'm afraid, except that having managed to overcome the very short cycles (down to 15 days at one point) things have now gone the other way and am at 38 days and counting this time round. I keep hoping and testing every couple of days, but there are absolutely no signs of a positive, which I'm not too surprised about as all the signs (and the tests) seemed to show no ov this cycle anyway.

I'm not sure whether this is just a blip (perhaps down to overwork, and not eating properly - I hardly seem to have had anything but sandwiches on the run for the last few months) and things will right themselves next time around, or if I should try to do something positive about it. I don't think though that at my age (37), with one child already and without a prolonged history of it our doctors would take it seriously anyway. So is it worth the hassle? To even go to the doctors I'd have to take a days holiday (which has to be booked 2 months in advance and is subject to last minute cancellation anyway) since it would mean more than the hour out of the office which is all I'm allowed for such things.

Hi all!! Good to be here on the new thread!! Bayleaf, you sound like you've really had a tough time with this ttc lark. I agree though knowledge is power but sometimes ignorance is bliss - and more exciting , well at first anyway!!! I can't make up my mind wether mumsnet helps or hinders sometimes!! I get a bit paranoid from time to time but most of the time I feel such support and know I can come online and say ANYTHING.
An example, last night I was getting changed and hubby noticed my boobs - not in that way! He said they were bigger and had those milk spot things on. I hadn't said anything as I thought I might be imagining it or creating them by prodding! Anyway, I then presumed I had imagined it all so much that it might be a phantom pregnancy and duly went on the internet to research the dam subject. I am none the wiser,
Hence, has anyone experienced this phenomenon??
Wll, have to wait and see and after a sleepless night I am determined to try and forget for now as its not worth thinking about it till next week!!!
LOLxxxx

Good luck to all on the new thread.
It could have been me with all the acronyms yesterday opk (ov prediction kit), bd (baby dance or sex!), cd (cycle day) etc. When you get really into ttc'ing and monitoring etc it's like a whole new world has opened up!

anyway - i'm on day 16 so a few weeks to go - or the 2ww (2 week wait)

Hi everyone, thought i would join this thread as i am in the same boat as everyone else. Have been ttc since December with no such luck. Came off the pill in December having prviously been on it for 2 years - since have had very irregular periods - always late giving me false hopes - also doesn't help that since i have been ttc i ahve had 2 beautiful niece's born!
Now have the situation where AF appeared to arrived 10 days too early but lasted for 1 day and has now changed into a brown discharge (Pleasant i know but have to be graphic) - Anyone got any idea's? could this all be part and parcel off coming off the pill?
P.S know what you mean Hewlettsdaughter - I have been struggling with the acronyms too.

Hi everybody, me after having hung up my hat from this thread. Still no period (2 days late now) had neg pregnancy test 3 days ago, boobs like dolly parton and have urge for shellfish and dried apricots (same as with DS). am too scared to do another pt as disappointment would be too much again (plus have booked flight home). sure it must be body still getting back to normal after m/c. anyway had written list of good things about not ttc: can go to bed in pj's (winter here and cold) not naked trying to look alluring, can be tired every morning and evening not try to look sexy when know look more like vera duckworth, can drink as much wine as I like without feeling guilty, hopefllu month will not be broken in to 2 separe weeks first 2 normal next 2 psycho with the am I or am I not count down and last but most importantly if fall out with DH can argue not have to bite tongue or make up quickly too keep him in the mood!(think smiley cheesy faces)

BigBird - bd - I guessed what you were referring to but didn't know what the b and the d actually stood for! Hi GillW, dot1, Jemma7 and quackers (hope it works out for you!). I am due to come on this weekend and think I probably will as I have had no early signs of pregnancy this time. Might go to Boots and check out the ovulation sticks...

Hi Jemma
You are EXACTLY like I was when coming off the pill. I had regular periods for a few months but they were really q light and not at all painful like normal ones used to be. Then they got shorter and then kind of stopped altogether, but I got a brown blood -- only light, a lot of the time. It came and went and no real periods turned up. My sister is exactly the same. Went to docs and got a scan done and found I had a simple cyst on one ovary and polycystic ovaries to boot. Not meaning to worry you at all, but PCO does show itself with irregular periods. Maybe you should go see doc. Its only now, after a year that I am all of a sudden having relatively normal heavy painful periods and no more brown spotting. Have also seen a gynaecologist and he's told me shall need help to conceive. So starting on the clomid in a couple of day v v excited!
Don't by any means think that I'm telling you you have PCO but you do have the same sort of thing i had when i came off pill. Don't even know if it was because of PCO, may just be coming off pill full stop. But, the sooner you ask for a scan the sooner you will know and the sooner you will conceive. Cos without regular ps it may be difficult.

Quackers, I'm excited for you, sounds very promising. Are you really going to wait another week to test?

I shall also wait another week, meanwhile reading something into every twinge I feel. I keep getting sharp pains low down in my pubic region (not sure what to call it but it is low down). Also my stomach feels rock hard rather than a wobbly jelly tum. But we here are experts at reading something into nothing arent we? I am probably just constipated.

Good luck HD, how's it going on Persona. The ov sticks will do the same thing, but I remember having to wait for 4 hours without a wee! Impossible for me as I go quite a lot!
Thanks Bunny2, appreciate your excitement for me!! I get really excited when someone announces they're pg! Hopefully one of us will have good news this time. I still have the ducts on my nipples and they are achy and funnily enough I've gone off tea. Left 2 cups made for me yesterday, tasted funny, but pmt can cause this too.
I am due a period on Thurs I think! I might test Wednesday if I feel these symptoms still! Very hard waiting though.
Your funny twinges, do you get them normally if you;re due on?? Best of luck!

Report
hewlettsdaughter · 10/07/2003 20:20

I haven't tried Persona yet quackers, but I'm not ruling anything out! I'll wait for my next period then try the sticks I think. Your symptoms really do sound hopeful - this is going to be a long week for you isn't it? I guess the best thing would be if you can busy yourself doing other stuff, and then you'll get there quicker...

Good luck with thw sticks, they really help especially if you don't feel ov like most people or have a really reg cycle. I always thought I was a day 14 person, but now I know it's diff every month.
