Ooh!! HI splash. Everyone is diff of course but my boobs were pricking and achy. The liitle bleed sounds good though doesn't it!

hewlettsdaughter · 14/07/2003 19:46

Hi folks. Did a test this morning as haven't come on yet (day 28) and my average cycle is 26 days. Test was negative, though. If it's not to be, I wish my period would hurry up and come, so that I can get it out of the way and we can get on with trying again!
I am starting to realise that I was very lucky when I got pregnant with ds - it happened within 2-3 months and I had only the vaguest idea about ovulation etc. All those of you who have been trying for a long time - respect is due!

quackers · 14/07/2003 21:13

Shame HD. Get to next month and hope u get lucky this time! Any plans to try sticks/persona?

hewlettsdaughter · 14/07/2003 22:11

Yep, going to try the sticks, and then maybe Persona if I don't get on with them.

BigBird · 15/07/2003 09:09

hd - i recommend the sticks and temping together. It really gave me a clear picture. One confirms the other, if you like!
Also - I reckon I was lucky 1st time too. Within 3 mths and also I hadn't a clue!!!

LucieB · 15/07/2003 09:19

I can highly recommend persona. Its a lot easier to use than the sticks. I only used mine for a month before I fell pg but it helped me to pinpoint ovulation exactly. It was a week later than I had calculated!

BigBird · 15/07/2003 09:49

Hi LucieB. I might still get persona but the reason I didn't buy it this month is that I thought it was quite expensive and takes a few months to get 'regulated' if you like....i.e. in sync with your cycle, and I really hope it won't take many more months
If i'm still here in a few months I might reconsider. Meanwhile I'll keep up the temping!
How many weeks are u now ?

LucieB · 15/07/2003 09:55

I am now 9 weeks. The persona showed the ovulation signs for me in the first month I tried it so I would say its worth investing now....

Tillysmummy · 15/07/2003 10:21

Can anyone tell me if there are any early pregnancy tests you can do. I have only come off the pill last month so this weekend I am due my first period off the pill. We have been trying all month. Trying not to get obsessive but boobs sore and feel very premenstrual for last 2 weeks. Could just be hormones flying around I guess. Got a feeling it's going to take a while.

Does anyone know how long the increased fertility lasts after coming off the pill ? The doc recommended I start trying straight away.

quackers · 15/07/2003 11:46

Hi all! HD, I got pr too first month of persona! I would have missed my ov days if it hadn't picked it up early on day 11, early for me! Some people do get ov symbol in first month as lucieB says.
Tillsmummy - I used first response on Sat and got a positive on day 22!!! My cycle is about 25 days. It will detect about 50% of pgs 3 days before a period. Good luck!

Jemma7 · 15/07/2003 12:01

Hi Tillysmummy - I suppose it depends how long you were ont he pill for. I was on it for 2 years and am still here trying 6 months later.
Periods were always regular before pill but since coming off have been very irregular, never early but always late giving me false hoes each month - my cycles can very from 28-40 days.
I am hoping this month is our month, have got the dull ache in tummy, runny nose, constant tireness, headaches, dizzyness and what appears to have been implantation bleeding - if this cycles is 28 days then i should come today but because they are so irregular am going to try and leave testing til Monday - It is sooooo hard not to though!

Good luck and i hope it doesn't take you as long as it has us.

Jemma7 · 15/07/2003 12:03

ooops that was meant to be "False Hopes" - must be getting over excited!

Tillysmummy · 15/07/2003 12:19

Quackers, good luck maybe Im straight to the chemist at lunch time. Gemma 7 - oh I wish you luck. It must be so stressful. Im not there yet but am sure I will be soon. Did you start trying straight after coming off the pill or did you take a break ?
I can't help but imagine that any tiny thing I feel is a symptom and its probably not.
Already fed up with sex and only just started trying !!!

Jemma7 · 15/07/2003 12:39

It is stressful and b/f gets so excited i try to not talk about it too much in front of him because i don't want to get his hopes up too much! We did start trying straight away and the first month i was sure i was pg, the same the 2nd & 3rd - so now i have more symptoms than ever before but am trying to convince myself im not pg so i don't get my hopes up - I'm driving myself crazy at the moment so gods knows what i'm doing to everyone else.
I find myself going to the toilet every 5 minutes to check and see if anything has arrived - must look a right nutter to work colleagues.
Know what u mean about getting fed up but you will have to try really hard to not just have sex to concieve but to enojy it as well - i found myself a few months back only wanted to do it when i thought i was ovulating - that wasn't fair on b/f and now we have adopted the attitude that its going to happen when it wants to so we should just takes this as they come - it still makes it hard though!
Did ur doctor say anythign about how long it might take after coming off the pill as i have only heard other peoples opinions rather than a professional opinion.

Tillysmummy · 15/07/2003 14:13

Hi Jemma7 I know exactly what you mean about the symptoms. I have felt things but daren't let myself get carried away and every time I get a pain keep thinking I might have been pregnant and am miscarrying, it's very common apparently. In fact with my dd I bled each month albeit lightly for the first 3 months ! My doc said that most women have increased fertility in the first couple of months after coming off the pill and so we should start trying straight away. Because my ovulation is all up the creek I haven't been testing for that and also sort of don't want to in a way because think I may get too obsessed but also for the reason you said about taking the pleasure out of sex. So we have just been trying to have sex 3 or 4 times a week and hoping for the best. Last time I got pregnant with dd straight after coming off the pill (about 3 weeks after) - we were supposed to be waiting 3 months to conceive because my doctor then told me to wait but hadn't explained its only because they can't date your pregnancy accurately otherwise.
I know what you mean about the symptoms. It could also be just coming off the pill, in fact probably is just my body readjusting. There's me fantasising

splash · 15/07/2003 14:32

Im like you tillysmummy i need to know which pg test is going to be the best, trying to wait myself to do a test, but i am very impatient. i am on dy 26 now and have not had any period pains like what i did last month. just sharp pains in my boobs. felt a bit dizzy in the shower earlier. congratualations quackers by the way.

LucieB · 15/07/2003 14:35

This has been said many times before, but the Boots tests are very good.....try one!

LucieB · 15/07/2003 14:36

ooops - double emphasis there!!!

splash · 15/07/2003 14:40

i bought the boots one last month. it looked like it had a feight line on it when i had it out in the sun, constantly kept looking at it all day, then i came on the next day!! does anyone think the cheap pg tests are good from the pound shop?

Baba · 15/07/2003 14:40

I would really like another baby - ds is 14 months and my two friends from ante-natal classes are now pregnant again!!

We can't afford it at the moment; haven't got enough room in the house, etc etc, but I am 35 and in a fab relationship and would love to have a baby now and get it out of the way!!

Except we don't really have sex!!
But when we do, we just use the pull out method.
Anyone know if I will get pregnant doing this????

Jemma7 · 15/07/2003 14:45

Sounds like we are in exactly the smae boat then tillysmummy - this is our first go at ttc so really unsure of what different things mean.
Iam terrible, i find myself looking on the internet for buggy's and nursery furniture even though nothing is certain yet.
Oh it's such a pain having to wait - wish i could a test right now and know one way or another!

splash · 15/07/2003 14:49

is this your first month jemma7?

Jemma7 · 15/07/2003 14:51

Baba, i wouln't know about getting pregnant like this - all i can say is accidents always happen! Think that's why i'm so frustrated at the mo, i know loads of people who have fallen pg without even trying and without necessarily wanting too and theres little old me still here and still trying - oh, i sound so sorry for myself.

Jemma7 · 15/07/2003 14:52

No splash - we have been ttc since Xmas - i know it's not as long as some people but is still just as frustrating!
