clomid success stories... please share

me and my husband are due to start clomid for the 1st time... please share your stories, from success to effects of the tablets,.... anything! xxx

I have 2 daughters in their 20's which were conceived easily with no help at 16 (!!!!) and 19. When I was 37 I again conceived easily twice (sadly 1 mc) at fullterm my little boy however was stillborn After that we tried for 9 months with no joy and because of my age was put onto clomid. 1 month in and voila - my now 20month old precious rainbow baby

I've just finished 2nd dose of Clomid. Am now in the middle of the, ahem active part of the month, so fingers crossed.

Only side effects I've had are hot flushes. This has effected my sleep a bit, but on the plus side has saved on heating bills!!

It only seems two minutes since i was where you are right now....after several miscarriages, numerous dignity reducing tests, soul destroying timetabled baby making (any of this sound familiar ??) and approaching my late 30's we too were advised to take clomid, which we did, and 2 months later we were expecting...kept everything crossed and hoped like hell and we had a beautiful wonderful little girl...I remember the hope and dread before taking clomid, i don't remember any awful side effects....but if you are anything like i was, you'll be aware of every feeling, twinge, bubble and forthcoming ovulation that is created in your body anyway I wish you the very very best of luck, and I will keep my fingers crossed that there is a positive post in the next few months XXX

yes teacherwithtots I can relate to some of these, im sure more so once we have started clomid. i had soul destroying tests and a major operation this year, as after the intense interbal scans it was discovered that i had a dermoid cyst that was 13sm big in my right ovarie! now thats removed and we can now make love agian - things seem positive. I had my first natural period also a month ago... and due on this sunday... i kinda hope clomid does not need to be started and i am pregnant... but doctors seem to think that i need clomid to kick start me ovulating,.

teacher apart from the miscarriages - so sorry for your losses - I can identify with everything you said. Having just finished 2nd dose of Clomid I hope I continue to "copy" what you've said.

I was put on clomid after 2 yrs of unexplained infertility. One month later I got a BFP and now have 3 year old twin boys It did seem to kickstart things for me and after I had DTs my cycles seemed to get slightly more normal. I had a natural BFP in Jan this year which sadly ended in MC but it showed that things had got back to normal.

I didn't really have any side-effects other than feeling quite bloated around ovulation and being aware of it (whereas normally I wasn't). I remember 3 days before I got my BFP talking to a friend and saying I was sure it hadn't worked. I was temping and I couldn't see any clear pattern at all. I guess the clomid had messed with my temps. Just shows how wrong I was.

I struggled to conceive my first dc, tried for 2 years, was given clomid and conceived the 1st month.

I was told I couldn't conceive naturally and therefore took no precautions. 3 years later conceived ds with no help.

dd now 10 and ds is 7.

I have been trying again for 18 mths, no success. I am now starting clomid again. Have precription etc and will probably start taking it June/July. I am older now (39) and I am trying to be positive. But I do feel time is running out and really wanted a smaller gap between dcs

I?m on my 2nd round of clomid and so far so good, apart from sore breasts I haven?t had any side effects this time. The first cycle was quite different hot flushes, very bad mood swings and the most awful pains thought dh was going to run for the hills at one point. I?m now on the dreaded 2ww so am keeping my self and any one else who will listen busy obsessing over symptoms and signs.

Dolly99, I don't remember many side effects, some dull pain when ovulating.

now, im taking some hormone tablets to induce my bleeding as of tomorrow, which i start tomorrow for 5 days.

then am taking clomid for days 2-6 of bleed. I have not been advised to have scans and I know most people have?

also.... when is the best ovulation days? as I do not my cycle days, most say average is 28 days? but some say 34? would you say to do 10 days after first day of period for the best 5 days of ovulation?

After 2 years of trying we got put onto clomid and concieved ds on the 2nd cycle and dd on the 6th cycle. Would love more but think we've had our fill of clomid.

Fantastic luck to you! I didn't have a scan. My fertility consultant suggested we be 'active' from days 10 - 21. ( There's lots of differing advice) so we were on alternate days.

please can you let me know what dd and ds means? I have seen this allot?

my husband is keen to be 'active' every day, lol - men!

so days 10-21 from the first day of your period? so if you come on on 1st say, your first best day would be the 10th>?

It's very encouraging to hear these stories. You hear about clomid, and hope it'll be a wonder drug. I am not on it, but am thinking it's likely. Of course had hoped to conceive naturally, but have very irregular AFs, and the doc said I'm probably not ovulating. But hearing that clomid has had such good results means there is hope! Do not dispair girls!!

Dolly - Only been trying since Jan, when I came off the pill. But my cycle is only about 16 days, which is why the doc thinks I'm not ovulating. 2 for the price of 1 every month!!
I know that it may be the pill coming out of my system (although I was only on it for 4 years) and stress, so am giving it another couple of months. My mum and sister both had PCOS, so he'll send me for a scan next, I think.

It sounds like you've been put on Clomid as your ovaries have been through the mill a bit - that was a huge cyst removed! Bless your heart! Had you been trying for long before that was discovered?

we had been trying for a year, then decided to seek help. went for blood tests and showed loe progestrine levels, and then was sent for scans (internal and external) - this highlighted the cyst (and yes huge!!!) luckily i had keyhole as the surgeon was amazing, and they saved my ovary!

operation was end of jan, and we are strating clomid on tues on day 2 of my bleed. the tablets I started yest to induce my bleed are already making me emotional and sore breasts, and I have 4 more days to go on these... my poor husband... i said to him last night though, that he has to suffer some way, and putting up with my mental hormones is his punishment! ha! ...

let me know if you have any questions, as I know how it feels when your in limbo and not knowing which direction you are taking to have a baby!

thanks, dolly. AF arrived today - so a 17 day cycle. I've been thinking...I had irregular AFs in my teens and early twenties. My mum and sis bith PCOS, but I then went on the pill so it masked the effects of PCOS. Now that i've come off, I think that the PCOS is showing itself - short cycles and have piled on the pounds. I had planned to wait another couple of months, but was so gutted when AF arrived i think i'll make an appointment to see the doc sooner.

do you know how long it can take to get clomid prescribed? How long do blood tests/scans take? thanks.

Hi, I have a lovely 4 year old Clomid baby and a 2 year old who was conceived naturally. Recently conceived again with the help of Clomid but sadly just miscarried this week but will be trying again when everything settles down.

The thing to remember about Clomid is that it can work not only while you are taking it, but also in the month after you stop as your hormones are still running high. Hence my four year old DD, conceived in cycle seven after six cycles of Clomid. Sometimes, you just have to hang in there.

Physically, the thing I remember most about Clomid was that my lower abdomen felt very swollen until ovulation. It was nothing compared with the progesterone suppositories though; they made me feel like jumping off a cliff!

MIffles - I had my first doc appointment about a year ago - and starting clomid this week hopefully. (just have to hope I have a bleed). I had blood tests origionally, which showed low poregeterone, and then I had to have the same tests done the following month to make sure that these were low each month, then I was refered for scans (which took a while) - had scans, external, which highlighted some concerns, then was referd for internal scans which highlighted my cyst. I was then refered to the clinic in the local hospital and told I needed an op... three months later I had the op.... then had 2-3 months recovery. My hubby then needed to give sperm sample to make sure it was just the cyst that was the issue, and once this came back ok (he is proud of his swimmers) - we were finally prescribed clomid! As you can imagine a stressful year to say the least...
... but if you have PCOS and this runs in your family, then after some bloods and a scan this shows up - you wll get clomid pretty quick.
