ha ha - no dh never made a fuss, our clinic was rather odd in that we done our sample at home, and had to get the sample to them in 2 hours, luckily was only 20 mins away... weused the pull put method and he had the cup ready... all very funny! moment killer yes! but like you say it has to be done! dh is very okay with that kinda stuff... i must admit the week df waiting for the results he was very very anxious,... asking what would happen if it was his 'fault' etc.... kinda makes them realise what we have to deal with everyday...should the issue lay with you...

well we were busy all the right days... i have blood test fri for 21 day blood test... so if its high after clomid we have a good chance of making a baby... we are trying not to get our hopes up... but its hard!

when is your appt with the doc for scan results?wed/thus? x

I went on Clomid earlier this year because I have PCOS. Worked first time around. Am now 19 weeks pregnant. I kind of had a feeling it would work first time around - not sure why.

No side affects from the Clomid at all.

Pregnancy however - now that is another story!

Dolly99 · 15/06/2010 20:37

emmyloo2 congatulations - fab news ... i kinda have that feeling... but not wanting to get hopes up.... aaarrrggghhhhh.2 weeks until i find out..... great to hear success stories x

Miffles,
Thanks for your information about ovulation tests. I looked at them in Boots and the packet said they were not suitable if you have PCOS but lots of people on here do use them. I haven't decided yet whether to or not.
I've now started on the Provera, struggling to work out how to fit taking it 3 times a day around my shift patterns and trying not to get overwhelmed by the whole thing.

Dolly99 · 16/06/2010 17:41

stregasaurus - i took mine at 7am when i got up, 1pm with lunch and 10-11 before bed! keep it simple!

I used ovulation tests and havs PCOS and it worked! i think it depends on how bad your PCOS are!

are you having any side effects to the provera? nice wwekend away?

Miffles · 16/06/2010 19:48

Yay - another success story emmyloo! That's what we want to hear!

Dolly - my doctor said he's happy to chat over the phone. He's in tomorrow and saturday, so hopefully will get to talk to him. I haven't had any blood tests yet, so want to get that arranged too.

I broched the DH sample topic yesterday - he was surprisingly fine about it. Agreed that it made sense before I had all sorts of procedures. Happy with that. Will ask the doc tomorrow. Thanks for the tip on how to do it - will suggest that!!

looking forward to hearing the results of the blood test on fri. Will be thinking of you.

stegasaurus - good to hear from you. let me know how you get on with the ov sticks.

stegasaurus · 17/06/2010 00:24

Dolly99: I work shifts so will generally be at work at some of those times. I start 4 nightshifts tomorrow night, so will be going to bed at 9am and waking up at 4-5pm then going to work at 7.30pm. Ideally I don't want to have to take it at work because there isn't always time to think about it and remember. There isn't always time to eat or drink or go to the toilet even in a shift if it is crazy busy.

I don't know if I am having side effects from the provera. DH suggested I might be more irritable because of it, but that could either just be me being irritable generally or him being particulary irritating! Will wait and see how it goes.

Dolly99 · 17/06/2010 08:22

Miffles - Let me know how you get on with the doc - he should refer you to a specialist, who will drive the blood tests, scans, lovely man sample, etc.... but from reading on here I am finding that there are a few different ways of getting the clomid, must depend on the nhs systems in your area....

blood tests tomoorrow - thnk we get results wed! if they are hugh and backs up the ovulation sticks that I have ovulated... then chances are high as we were indeed busy!

stegasaurus - can you have your phone on you? i set reminders in my calendar on my phone...

I was very emotional and had sore boobs, wasa tad down when im normally upbeat, the snalliest things were upsetting me..... i cried when i could not get the mayo lid off!!! he he! If you need any advice let me know, im a newbee too, but have finsihed 1st course and no the procedure etc.

I hope we are all on here sharing our bump stories! we must keep in touch - i find it really helps? do you ladies? x

Dolly99 · 17/06/2010 16:37

millymolly81 - this is our 1st month on clomid, we kinda hope for twins as we want two children, then we never have to go through this again! I have heard there is a 10% chance of twins... so chances next time would be 90% sure you wouldnt.... x

Miffles · 17/06/2010 20:33

ok...so things are moving on...spoke to the doc and yes, I do indeed have PCOS. Which is good, as that's what I thought.

I've got an appointment booked with the nurse next week to get: chlamydia swabs done, blood to check for rubella and blood to check mid-level progesterone (I think that was what it was called). That last one is meant to be one week before AF, but no idea when that is, so we figured just do it next week!! DH is booked to see the doc next week too for his check up...they give him a pot to take home, apparently!

Once all those tests are done and results in, then the referral will go forward to FS. The appointment from them will be within 18 weeks.

Still going with the supplements and wondering if they may be helping a bit. TMI coming up....
I started a pathetic AF last Tue (which would have been CD 17). It dibbed and dabbed and was kind of one tampon only a day. Kept on for a week on and off. Then on tue and wed this week (CD 24) took it up a notch to maybe 3 tampons a day(See, told you TMI!). Much more promising, and I wondered if this actually marked an ovulation!!! Dropped back again now, but I'm taking it as a good sign!

Dolly - are you still taking all your supplements? Angus Castus too? Or do you not take this when you're on the 2ww?

After your bloods tomorrow, you said results wed...will you then know if it was successful? Might you actually be told your pg? That'd be so exciting!!

And yes, find this all v helpful.

stegasaurus - hope you manage to figure out the timing of everything.

Dolly99 · 18/06/2010 12:44

miffles - fab news things are in progress, and all the right things. Prog mid needs to be on day 21 after first day of bleed.... so seen as you have bled i would do it 21 days after this?? make sense?

when DH has to take the sample pot home, does he have to have the sample with the clinic within two hours? if so this is what we did!

I am indeed taking all supplemets everyday, esp angus! i take them all everyday.

the blood test is to see if i have ovulated... and i used the ovulation sticks.. and it showed that i did... so fingers crossed! we were busy lots!

stegasaurus · 19/06/2010 17:23

Miffles,
When I initially went to my GP to see what could be done about my not becoming pregnant after a year, he told me to get some blood tests. I now know that these bloods should have been done on a certain day of my cycle but, like you, I haven't had a period in months so that wasn't possible. When I saw the specialist at the hospital he started me on Provera to induce a bleed, because he also put me on Clomid that I have to start on day 2 of my cycle. When that works and I have a cycle I have to go back to the hospital and get the bloods repeated there on the right days.

Dolly,
Good luck for next week. Hope you get a postive result. And, yes, I also find this thread/ forum very helpful, because this isn't something I can discuss with anyone in 'real life.' No one knows that DH and I are going through this process, so it is great to be able to share experiences and ask questions of people who have been through it before.

Dolly99 · 19/06/2010 17:47

no one knows of our 'issues' either, like u i find it hard to talk about, i talk to my hubby loada about it. but talking to women who share the same emotions and symptons helps me feel like im not alone!

prog induced my bleed, and then took clomid, then got the smile on the ov teste, you going to do these stegasauru ?

i am so nervous... and now freaking out a lil... been a long time comng being in this situation, feeling for the 1st tme like i could actually be,.... you no..... but hey, trying not to get hopes up.... arrrggghhh! x

Dolly99 · 22/06/2010 12:53

well i have called the doc for results... lady on reception says my level was 21... has to be over 30 to ovulate!!! so i obviously have nto ovulated! and im really upset! dnt get why I got the surge on the predictor sticks?!... have docs at 530 this evening to find out... maybe get 100mg for next month! .... i think i got my hopes up too much x

OP posts:
Dolly99 · 22/06/2010 19:55

seems the lady on reception was silly.... and selfish.... she had no idea what she was talkig about... my levels were a whooping 110!!!! eeekkkk.........

where is everyone???

OP posts:
Miffles · 22/06/2010 21:17

wow! that's great dolly!! What an annoying lady on reception - you must have had a really stressful afternoon if you thought that. Glad you got to see the doc so soon to get the correct information. What happens next? You're at day 21....so only another week, then can you POAS?

I've been here, but not much happening, so not much to post about. I also went to the docs today - had my bloods taken (and cried - I'm such a wuss!) and had a swab for chlamydia. a week til the results are in, then we get referred. Sigh. it all takes so long!! My DH also saw the doc and got fondled . He has a pot and must deliver it within 2 hours....tee hee!!

My last AF lasted about 11 days - not much blood at all, but still annoying. Have had 2 clear days, and then today have had blood when I wiped....I wonder if the smear/swab caused it. Rather annoyed, as I just cannot seem to have a normal cycle. But I must relax and let it be...that's why we're having the tests done and will see a FS about it. Sorry for the rant.

stegasaurus - how are things going?

Dolly99 · 23/06/2010 12:39

miffles - I no! I was in tears, i called at 930am, and appt was at 530pm - so a long time to assume i had failed the 1st round. day 21 was on friday. I ovulated late, on d16, so cant really do test until next weekend.... ohhh the waiting game! they say to wait three weeks after ovulation to test.

it does all take so long, but once you get the clmoid its all pretty fast! even tho the weeks drag between stages!

bless him.... did you use our method :p

rant away - thats what im here for.... i never had proper periods at all... had one after op, then never again, so took provera to enduce proper bleed so i could take clomid... they may recommebd this to you.

i remember a fw momths ago i was so cinfused by it all, but now i have taken the 1st round I am more clued up, so i can try help yyou.....

i got some pregnancy tests at lunch - eeeekkk!

OP posts:
Miffles · 23/06/2010 18:19

Ha ha - buying pregnancy tests! See how far you have come! Here's hoping AF stays away and you get a BFP.

I have heard that mc are more common in PCOS suffers. Do you know if the chances are more or less (or the same) if you conceive with clomid?

My bleeding has stoped again, so that's good.

Dolly99 · 24/06/2010 16:49

I got a positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im in shock! dh cried and kept cuddling me!

it does work!!!!!!

i dnt think there is any less or more chances of mc on clomid.... we have decided not to tell anyone until three months.... omg i am bursting at the seams wnating to tell everyone! noone knows we have even been trying - so will be a shock to all... x

OP posts:
Miffles · 24/06/2010 21:28

OMG!!! Dolly that is fantastic!! Oh wow! I am so so pleased for you. really really happy!! You weren't meant to be testing yet, either! That has made my evening. I'm on a number of threads and people are getting BFP here and there. But this one means so much more, as I know some of what you've been through and what it means to you. And so encouraging for me too!! Yay!!

Gosh - no one knows you've been trying, and you've been through all this already? How have you kept it a secret?! Most people know everything about my jouney!

Going for a reflexology appointment tomorrow, see if that helps to rebalance and regulate things.

Congrats again. That's amazing news. Congrats to you for sticking with it and to DH for super sperm!!

xxx

Dolly99 · 24/06/2010 22:01

thank you!!!! i no, i got the test which tells you 6 days before.... could not bare waiting! ha. thats what i wanted to tell you... after half hour of finding out i said to my hubby i need to tell you! as its encouraging and lovely to hear... i never told him i was doing it either - just did it. ha!

i just found it hard to talk about, and after a year of trying with nothing, and the op, and the clomid etc we just kept it between us.

are you taking the supplements still?

im still here to help and talk --- i find it really helps. x

SelenaD · 24/06/2010 23:07

Congratulations!!!!

Oh wow i'm so glad i found this thread! This is also my first cycle on clomid. I took 100mg from 3-7. I'm now cd8. Got some bad headaches, a little cramping, dizziness and mood swings! Its good to see so many success stories. I have a 7y old son after 4yrs of trying and i had a miscarriage of twins in 2007. since then i've been trying with no success.

I really pray that it works for me on the first try. I will keep you ladies in my prayers! Mind if i hang around a bit? You seem like lovely ladies to be friends with lol

Selena

Dolly99 · 25/06/2010 08:13

selena - no problem at all - i really like talking on here to the ladies, i call you my talk buddies to my dh - he he!

i was only on 50mg, on days 2-5 and ovulated on day 14.

I got headaches, cramps, dizzyness, blurred vision, mood swings, the lot! but wow it seems worth it now!

i ovulated at 110, anything over 30 is high, so twins are high. x
