Thanks dolly99 the flushes are pretty bad! Spots too! Glad that they will be over soon, today was the first day off the pills. Ok so every day then days 10 to 17 like the doc said should be ok? I reckon a couple of days either side may be good too?! Have bought the ov tests so will give those a go as well, keeping everything crossed! We are going away this weekend so will be all chilled next week!
I will go for the blood test it seems strange though that i have only been told to have one when people here seem to have them each cycle, treatment seems to vary so much!

Trying hard to be positive about the treatment and not apprehensive! So pleased about this site as it helps so much to talk to others who have been and are going through the same thing! X

Dolly99 · 23/07/2010 13:16

confu3ed - you need blood tests every cycle! on day 21! as this measures the levels! make sure you get these booked in! hopefully you will not need to go on another course! stay positive, stay relaxed, and have lots of fun! have a fab weekend!

Confu3ed,
I've also only been told to go for day 21 blood test once. My first day 21 was last week when I couldn't go anyway as I was on holiday in Scotland. I told the dr at my appointment that this might happen and he said it didn't matter and I could go the next cycle. Also, it is apparently the hospital policy only to give out results of any tests at the next appointment with the doctor, which isn't until the end of October for us, so I can't use the blood test results to know if I am ovulating or not. This is the same for the results of DH's sperm analysis. I could be taking 5 cycles of Provera and Clomid without knowing that either they don't work for me or they won't work because of DH's sperm count.

Dolly99 · 25/07/2010 16:36

stegasaurus - this is really not the process. and any bloods or sperm given for testing legally must be given to you.... esp in this case as then you know whats happening! i would go back to the dr and question why they have not given you the results.

Dolly99 my appointment lasted less than 5 minutes, the doctor asked me why I was there I explained what had happened and how my gp said I may need clomid, he asked ne how I felt about it I said I would like to try them, he wrote me a prescription for 3 months supply and exactly the same as you stegasauras he said have one blood test doesn't matter which month and I got sent an appointment for my next visit in October! I hope they give me the results when I phone them!! The odd thing is that if they don't give you the results then how do you know if it's working? It could end up being October the pills not working and you not having a clue!
Peoples experiences of fertility clinics seems to vary so much I know if you go private you are scanned each month to check ovulation and I get one test same as stegasauras which does seem a bit strange! I am just keeping everything crossed that it works quickly so the lack of testing will not make any difference. Be good to know if my progesterone does increase though as I was borderline at 31 before the pills plus I didn't get any ovulation signs. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

stegasaurus · 25/07/2010 21:58

Did anyone has blood tests on day 2 of cycle for LH and FSH? I am having that tomorrow (assuming I can leave work on time so I can get to the hospital in time). Will try and remember to ask how I can get the results.

stegasaurus · 25/07/2010 22:09

Another question: I missed going for day 21 bloods last month because I was on holiday. Just realised that I can't go on the right day this month. Day 21 will be a Saturday, so I thought I would go on Friday, but on Fridays the clinic finishes early so I can't go after work. The options are go on the Thursday (day 19) or the Monday after (day 23). Which is the best option? Or will both of them be no good? Does anyone know?

confu3ed · 26/07/2010 09:30

Hi stegasauras I was told you can have the bloods done any day from 21 - 23 as long as you tell the doc what day you had them it's fine.

Dolly99 · 27/07/2010 14:33

i would just go to the nurse on day 21, each month and ask for your levels to be tested as your on clomid, they csnt refuse this, nor can they not give you the results, the reason u have these is vital!as if 50mg os not working you need an increase! and as u say waitng until october is too long!

Hi all,

Just wanted to share my clomid success story.
Me and my partner have been ttc for 2 1/2 years. I was given clomid 100mg last year for 3 months after discovering i had pcos and also endometriosis. I ovulated on clomid abut did not fall pregnant. My gyn then decided to do a lap and dy. in Feb this year where they cut away my endometriosis and drilled my ovaries. I then was given a 3 months worth of clomid 50mg. The first month i failed to ov and the second month i produced a big fat follicle and ov about cd 11. And yesterday i found out i'm pregnant!! Its been a long hard road but we got there in the end, dont give up the faith ladies and much love and luck to you all. If anyone wants to ask me any advice on clomid im here
xxxxxx

stegasaurus · 27/07/2010 21:22

Dolly,
I get my bloods done at the hospital where I saw the fertility dr and they won't do them unless I bring along the request form he wrote out, so going along each month to ask for them to be done won't work. I don't know I could ask the nurse at the GP surgery to do it. She also might not without the GP requesting it. I don't have a GP at the moment anyway as I haven't had chance to register since moving house last week. I'm already taking 100mg of clomid anyway so wouldn't be able to increase it if not working.

Dolly99 · 28/07/2010 08:41

clomid can go upto 200! but not often used. I had my bloods done with the nurse at my local GP - I needed no proof or referal, just told her what the bloods needed to test and she did it! I wish you all the luck. Very frustrating that every NHS section varies!

Hello all-am a newbie-can I join please??have been reading your stories and found the thread to be reassuring and positive-am trying myself to be that way! Me and DH have been TTC 2 and a half years with no success-all tests showed unexplained infertility. We are on waiting list for IVF probably in sep/oct so have opted to try for clomid with IUI in the meantime-that way we feel we are doing something productive-on 1st cycle-now CD 9.

Just back from clinic after having 2nd scan-3 good follicles one side and 2 the other. Nurse said they would abandon the idea of IUI if there were 3 dominant follicles in total about to release eggs-so that is now my worry. Next scan is on friday morning and if all looks good IUI could be next week! DH has a more in-depth semen analysis planned for saturday. Feel so desperate now-hope it works for us tyhis time...

Sorry to be al ME, ME, ME-wishing everyone all the very best of luck and more happy stories please! xxx

confu3ed · 28/07/2010 22:28

Dolly99 I think you are right about the tests going to try my nurse and see what she says. I am just a bit concerned that they have done no tests but gave me the pills anyway and only one blood test!

Congratulations nicnic246! You definatly give me hope that I will get there in the end! How did you know if you ovulated or not? Blood tests?

Hi pumkinjoy and best if luck for friday!!! Are you having your treatment privately? Just asking as the scans and tests have not even been discussed with me but lots of ladies seem to have them, I wish they were offered as I would like to know if this is working or not!

pumpkinjoy · 29/07/2010 08:27

Hey-just a quick one as at work-
Confu3ed Yes we are going privately for this but on the NHS waiting list for IVF-sort of feel was forced to go private as I originally saw my GP last may and we are still only at this stage-everything seems to take so long...
Feeling positive about it all still-but feel I could change to a complete emotional wreck at any time! That's why discussing it all on here is such a great help. Think you should ask about the scans but it seems from others' stories the absence of them happens alot-maybe it's to do with the individual PCT. Anyway, chat soon and love to all xxx

confu3ed · 29/07/2010 15:38

Thanks pumpkinjoy! Treatment does seem to vary so much! I am also trying to stay positive and keeping my fingers crossed! X

confu3ed · 30/07/2010 12:19

Can anyone help? Got some weird side effects now, today and yesterday.....swollen tummy and sore boobs does anyone know if this is normal? I am on day 16 so the effects should have worn off now shouldn't they?

nicnic246 · 30/07/2010 19:12

Hi confu3ed, Thank you. I knew i ovulated as ive been lucky enough to have had scans done since ive been on clomid around the time that you would ovulate. I've been reading evryones frustrating stories on all the confusing blood tests. Its all confusing enough with the scans and ovulation let alone a blood test so i do feel for you all on that. We just need to know the days to do it you think it wouldn't be that hard in this day and age. It looked like i ov between cd 10 to cd12 which i thought was really early for me but since clomid makes your periods more regular that kind of makes sense! Just be aware also that part of the my side affects was pregnancy symtoms around the time you would expect your period these for me included BAD pmt very tierd, most painful nipples ever and swollen stomach so got my hopes those months when it was just side effects after all. The only difference this time was that i was getting cervical mucas still when your meant to be dry and also metal taste in my mouth. Oh and also one of the side effects when i took clomid one month was scary tunnel vision every night at the same time which i think was maybe the start of a migrane but when i went to bed it would be gone in the morning. I never used the ov tests but i think i would of done had i not of had the scans cause they are meant to be good i know many people that really rated them when trying to get pregnant. Sorry to ramble on hope this helps
x

pumpkinjoy · 30/07/2010 21:27

I've had my scans today at 0700!!-CD 11-not mentioned anything about blood tests but will ask on monday. Had scan today and have dom follicle both sides-one 12mm the other 10mm so they said this was 'normal' on clomid.
Confu3ed Hope you're okay and sending you all my love and baby dust! Keep in touch-it all seems abit quiet on this thread-have a good wend everyone xx

confu3ed · 31/07/2010 14:09

Hi nicnic246 I am even more confused today! I am getting a positive on an ovulation kit most days?!!!! Today I did not yesterday and the two days before yesterday I did though I mean what's that all about? Great that you found out when you were ovulating, I have no idea, no signs so dunno trying to be positive but really hard when I have no idea what's going on with my body! Makes it impossible to know when is a good time. Your side effects sound awful, tunnel vision, worth it though!!! x

Pumpkinjoy - That is great news, best of luck to you x
I have booked a blood test with my nurse on day 21 this month and will continue to do so each month, as I cannot go until October not knowing if I am ovulating or not.

xx

nicnic246 · 31/07/2010 16:15

Hi confused have you got pcos? Ov kits can give force readings when you have pcos and i think when you have taken clomid as well i think you can get a force one to. We used to do it every other day from after my period, as we were told its best for the sperm to renew that way. But on the month we conceived we did it every day. I reckon just keep doing it all the time. When ever i tried the ovulation kits it never once said i ov (this was right at the beginning before any treatment) so it could be good news for you and maybe you've produced more then one egg or something as you know that could happen on clomid you might of ov twice and thats why you've had all different results at different times so fingers crossed. Good luck!!!! Hey what cd are you?

confu3ed · 31/07/2010 21:40

Nicnic246, when I had a scan after my miscarriage the nurse asked me if I had pcos as she thought it looked like it, but it was never diagnosed. I think abandoning the tests may be for the best and just going with what the doctor said and trying for 10 days. Be good if it was a second ovulation though as if it didn't work last time it might this! I am on day 16. Thank you xx
